Edited by: Happy squid on 22/06/2011 13:35:50 Ok, so there's a lot of issues the Incarna patch and sure i get that, but do explain to me, why my cpu went from using 5% CPU to 30% CPU in one patch? That's 25% increase, and while it doesn't get any warmer, it's still quite annoying seeing as my fans are working harder..
Something i noticed is, while running everything on high, it's at 30% If i then were to turn it on performance or memory, (In the automated settings) It STILL uses 30%.. I also tried turning it to low and turning off most of the things, and it's still 30%..
It's using upto 950 000kb each while running the games..
My physical memory is being pushed upto 75%..
My current Pc is ATI RaDeon HD 5800 Series
Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.7GHz
6GB ram
Why is it all going to hell? -_-' The heat isn't an issue at all since it's as low as it's always been..
**Edit** Note this happends WHEN im running only one account aswell as two accounts, tried booting one of and only using 1 with low settings, still no difference.

Actually Im having a very similar problem.
Im using a 5870 but for some reason the gfx card never runs at more than 30% load no matter what settings i use in game high or low detail. I also experimented with the overdrive section in CCC but saw no difference. One strange thing.. I turned all sound off and gained 10fps for some reason.
The the cpu usage has gone from 30% in the old client to 75%-85% now. The ram usage is at a little over 1gig but thats to be expected im sure.

The thread 'Incarna blew up my pc...' has a lot of people trying to work this out, and some possible reasons as to why it happens, along with temperature issues also.
As far as we can tell at the moment, it's simply that the Carbon rendering engine is just a resource-hungry monster that wants to eat all your processing power and RAM. For some it simply makes their computer work harder, for other it tries to turn their computer into moon goo. -------------------------

yeh i had seen the other thread earlier and ive been keeping an eye open for others its just that i hadnt seen any other comments on the fact that the gfx card seems to sit at 30% load no matter what you throw at it.

Just updated the 'incarna blew up my pc' with theory-crafting on this issue which may at the same time provide an answer as to why other issues have been happening. -------------------------

Seems there are an extraordinary amount of problems with ATI cards. Now I'm sure that conspiracy theorists could go on ad nauseum about this. The fact remains that it seems this patch was designed to work much better with Nvidia cards. Granted Nvidia does seem to have some kind of partnership with CCP now. But CCP has to realize that many players are using ATI cards due to the lower price point and because the the trade off in performance really isn't noticeable by most people.
So is it so crazy to think that Nvidia designed the technology to run better on their cards vs. a competitors? No of course not.
Still I'm sure that the players put more money per annum into this game than Nvidia has over the course of it's life. All I can hope is that the programmers are working to fix this problem.

its not a case of it not working on the ati card and it running at massive loads. The strange thing is that it doesnt seem to be using the card at all. 30% is hardly anything.
