No, I am not leaving EVE. Reason I'm asking is watching the forums: I've played EVE for a couple of years now and every patch/expansion has people raging or leaving. You have the "CCP fail" people, the people who just aren't interested who are disappointed in the content of an expansion, and then you have the downright insane ragers.
Thing is, I can't recall there being this many frustrated players over any other EP. I can't say that I don't understand it either, simply because this doesn't really feel like an expansion to me. The only change, has been the removal of ship spinning - since I don't load station environment. If you look at earlier expansions, there were always people who weren't happy CCP didn't cater exclusively to them and added stuff only for cavebwears to enjoy, for instance. But here it seems like the overall consensus is that people ain't happy.
Getting back to the topic at hand. I'm no supporter of listening to the highest rattling cans, but in the case of Incarna it seems like the amount of displeased people outweighs the number of pleased ones. This might simply be because those are the people screaming highest, however, there is no denying that the amount of people not happy is fairly large. Incarna is arguably one of the most anticipated EP to date, and now that it's out... Well, we have a thread with 20+ pages of people who isn't even using the captain's quarters.

So much fuss.
3 years of development.
And then this is what we get? A prison and a character with clonky controls which looks more like some project then something a professional gaming company would bring out?

Incarna sure is a bust, even the male toons have boobs.
My toon's bust is pointier than a pair of Madonnas.

Firstly Is not the whole expansion it will be added in, in stages.
Most of the people who like the game wont bother posting on the forums.
I personally love it and can't wait for all the new ship content after all these guys leave because the initial patch doesnt have everything.

I wouldn't say Incarna is a bust. I'm sure its the first step to something that will make eve much more interactive. Its a cool idea, but like the second poster I think that CQ at the moment is pretty much worthless. You can't DO anything in it really and it just slows down the initial loading...
So yeah, Its not really that incarna is a fail, its that we can't believe that CCP spent the last six months working on this... Players want their internet spaceships, and just judging from how my dram looks now they screwed up on that portion of the expansion too...

I dunno if it's a bust or not because I still haven't gotten it installed. Looks like I am going to start a whole new fresh install since the repair tool keeps fudging up when I try to repair. Really sucks because I have metered bandwidth.

Heck no. Incarna isn't done being implemented. This was a framework update, but it wasn't advertised as such. If they implement player owned casinos, pubs, black markets, etc. I think CQ can be pretty awesome. Until then, it's 'Do not load' for me, but the prospects are there.
The few actual gameplay enhancements are really nice. Agent finder is a missioner's new best friend. The info panel magnifying glass is great fun, and I hear the corp recruiting feature is good also.
I wonder if all the high sec players will flip as much of a lid when low/null sec and sov gets a facelift.

I won't say it's a complete bust, they haven't finished yet. That said, why they felt the need to rush this to market instead of finishing it first is beyond me. Secondly, I do have to agree that it seems like somewhat of a **** move on their part to develop and test this on quad core cpus w/ top of the line evga cards.

Wormholes were well recieved. Incursions were mostly well recieved too.
PI was so, so, but after the first iteration it was left for dead anyway.
Usually new content is pretty well recieved I would say. |

But still, CCP prides themselves in delivering a free expansions every ~6 months. Where is this new content in this case? I mean, obviously the captain's quarters, but I can't really say I think this is worthy of being called an expansion - what does it add to my gameplay?
I was pretty psyched and looked forward to Incarna, admittedly I thought "This is cool" the first time I loaded it up. Now, a day after, I'm asking myself what my incentive for actually having the extended loading time is? The new agent finder might be nifty. And the new fitting thingy is indeed cool. My problem is that those things are more like details which makes an expansion better, not an expansion by themselves.

While this might be true, I do believe the number of players actually posting on the forums is significant enough that their overall opinion might be representative of the average EVE player's opinion. Not everyone posts on the forums, yes, but this goes for both people liking this addition and people who don't.

The framework update came in Incursion 1.6 , that huge 500mb patch that added nothing, remember?
This is their environment settings, particle counts, pixel shaders, that are busting it for a lot of customers even on decent hardware.
Something is rotten in the state of Iceland.

Why people si so selfish? There is lot of players taht like the idea to see their character. But the real problem is that is a bit useless. There is nothing to do out your ship that you cannnot do, in your ship for the moment.

I think perhaps people have selective memories about "the old days", every expansion gets people complaining and a couple of threadnoughts, this is no different. In fact it's probably less complaining than usual considering the type of expansion.

Still can't play on my laptop all because of dress up dolls. Seriously it adds no meaningful content to the game in exchange for me being able to play while I'm away from my desktop.
Up yours CCP.

Professionals do not release broken tech demos as "expansions". It's a bust.

Its not finished yet - just imagine the LAG and horrible resourse use the finished incarna will create?
Right now, it's using twice the RAM and heating the display card by 20 degrees, just running ONE client.
Something's not spinning right in those codes scotty

The real world. It's the one with that bright thing in the sky, directly above your room in your parents basement.

I didn't see Incarna Pt.1 written anywhere. Nor any commitment to adding anything more substantial in any reasonable timeframe.
Today was the launch of the "Incarna Expansion" and it's a single room, a cash-shop and a flashy but inefficient GUI replacement. I'm pretty sure its brevity, and the laughable cash-shop, has cost CCP an awful lot of customer faith, reputation and subscriptions. They used to have a reputation as people who focused on just making a really "awesome" game which excused them being sort of careless, now they look lazy and money-grubbing.
It's a bust. Possibly the most impressive I've seen since the launch of APB.

Edited by: Chandler Urandom on 22/06/2011 17:25:33 If it wasn't clear: I'm talking about this expansion, the one that happened yesterday. You can say it's just the first iteration, but fact of the matter is that this is advertised as an expansion. If it becomes awesome in the future or not, means nothing right now. Captain's quarters would have been neat if it was part of a larger expansion, not a standalone expansion for EVE. Until now, I would've been willing to pay for each of the expansions CCP have released - even maybe PI. This? I'm not so sure why I would.

lol. I wouldn't go that far! :P That game just faded away immediately - which wasn't surprising considering it was compared to GTA and the like, and the beta was just plain awful.
