You used plex to buy aurum instead of game time.
You are no longer able to buy game time with that plex.
Now you have to pay real money for game time to stare at the virtual hole in your head.

When you buy enough monocles to fill a hauler then u run it into a gatecamp for ****s and giggles, then you're rich.
Buying a 1 bil item and flashing it as a sign of your wealth is more like a ukranian flashing his 5 year old Nokian cellphone to impress to the local townspeople.

To be honest, 1 billion isk was a lot of money in eve around 2004 or so, but not so much in 2011...
These days to even register on the radar of the truly rich, it starts out at the 100 billion mark and keeps going up from there, with the truly high rollers in the trillion isk mark by now....

I was laughing loud, when i encountered this.
Not because Johnson Scythe obviously bought an ... 'exclusive' ... item. No. It's amusing because he overtrumps the 'haters' in an elegant way.
I suppose, just *this* was worth the monocle price.
@ Johnson Scythe : Have (furthermore) fun with your monocle. 
@ all others: Let us him having fun with it. He can afford it. It's like those rich people possessing for example 40 Porsches or Ferraris. Because they can. - And, by the way ... he - direct or indirect - gave money to CCP - and this is a benefit for us all. If CCP gains more money, they have more resources to develop Eve for the future.

Maybe the guy didnt even have to lift a finger for all those ISK either, but has a bunch of alliance slaves working their collective asses off for his moon goo income, and thus his monocle?
Frankly, my personal guess is most of the people that actually buy one of these have enough isk to not even notice a billion missing, and didnt work for it themselves either.
