Hi sorry for the caps but i feel moved to do so.
Recently i waited for Incarna and when it finally arrived. I was both relieved and disgusted.
As u all are more then aware the cost of in game vanity items is not a joke, its Eve Universes biggest scam.
The improvements to the game are over shadowed by CCP's obvious contempt for its player base, I will not go into details but $70 for a half pair of glasses is what i am driving at.
Anyways, obviously the pricing was made by an accountant or managerial position, with its aim of extracting the maximum of cash out of Eve players.
Well my suggestion is fight fire with fire, for every monocle that is sold, I suggest, that many of us that have more then one account, let their subscription lapse on their alt in protest.
If this become a zero sum game or even hurts CCP bottomline, I believe they will be forced to listen to their players and not play higher then mighty untouchable company, that many of us have already encoutered in rl.
I understand that this is a sacrifice on ur part, and I am not suggesting that you lapse ur main, we all know what sp means to us, but letting ur alt lapse i think will make the pain a little less and hopefully force CCP back to the negotiating table.
I will not do this on my own as the gesture will be pointless but am suggesting that if things are not rectified within 2 months, that this boycott becomes active in September.
I am posting here to see if there is any support for this idea.
Please I am not interested in why you think CCP and Eve is great, i did and to a lesser extent do but this move literally shows not only contempt for their playerbase but the poor and needy.
To rectifiy this matter I believe should offer refunds of items already brought and rethink their pricing strategies or donate all money so far raised to charity.
Please X in this post if u feel that, if the worst comes to the worst, u may participate in this boycot.
Kind Regards,
Jedi

The only thing that will get CCP's attention is a class action lawsuit, and there's no basis for that. Anything else is just brave forum chest-thumping.

Ok you can let your hauler alt expire and haul your ore in your retriever if you want, but you try to tell those of us with capital, supercap, jump freighter etc alts to unsubscribe.
That is bad strategy. Not gonna happen.
I used to plan campaigns for a living and ya know what you CAN do? Get them bad press anywhere and everywhere. That will hurt their wallet more than unsubbing a few accounts. I don't care enough to help. Best of luck to you

Fair is fair. CCP allows cheating/scamming in game, why would they think it's a bad idea to get into the act? They are simply walking in the same shoes as us..I applaud them for being so forward thinking. In the USA, companies rip people off daily, but they also vehemently deny any wrongdoing while doing so. CCP has stepped out and said, this is the world now, we live in it, why shouldn't we profit from it?

Don't want to pay a lot for a monocle? Ok, don't.
What is more stupid? Putting out a vanity item at a high price that some people will pay, and others won't, thus making it special, or calling for a boycott because you think the price is too high?
Best of luck with your efforts.

Maybe OP should quit already with mains and alts.
I do not find any problem with aurum shop prices. High price = every one is not able to buy those => plex total amount used for aurum shop is less than if every one could afford and therefore plex prices do not sky rocket and players have still possibility to buy plex to pay game time.
And i think that ideas like OP has are quite close to violating eula, expecting to see some moderation here.

Just don't buy any items through MT. Simple as that. I sure as hell won't.
And now, just to play devil's advocate here - how do you propose that we monitor the sales of monocles in order to drop accounts and coordinate who drops their accounts?

Its CCP job to monitor it ;), 300,000 subscriptions, i cant c anywhere near that many buying monocles. Going from the plex tank after incarna went live last night, i recon that uptake so far is a relatively tiny percentage of subscribers. Probably much less then CCP envisioned it to be.

But again the statement for eve remains
'You don't have to buy MT items'
But lets explore the possibility of having to buy a item, for Example a faction POS with micro-plex.
Use ISK, convert to plex, convert to arum, buy POS.
How different is that to:
Use ISK, buy POS?
Infact, the richer get poorer (PLEX prices go up), that faction POS (or sub) will cost more. The Poorer become richer (many sell PLEX for ISK) more expensive PLEX means more money for people who do MT.
So given the above paragraph, can someone point out the evil here? All I see is more of a equalizer between the rich and the poor (both in and out of game).

The difference, my man, is in the first instance, plex is used which costs real life cash and lost to ccp, the get richer, in ur example for paying out some au which has a value perscribed by CCP. And in the second case isk is merely transfered between players, there is no loss and no exchange of real money.
So in summary case one is real money, case two is internet spaceships.

You are not getting it are you?
This is a calculated move, are you too obtuse to see what is happening?
EVE is an older game, it cannot survive in a competitive market the way it is, it has to follow a successfull business model.
So, to fix it we get CQ + AUR.
What this will do is:
1. Force older players to rage quit willingly or adapt to the new rules and shut up. 2. Bring in new users who know nothing about the eve economy and charge them more for vanity items.
The game mechanics will also be simplified in the future, count on it, this game will get a lot easier to enter and play and open up to a massive multiplayer audience.
CCP is a business, not a game.

Oh i am getting it, if ur willing to lie down, u'll be the one thats getting it, well if u have any real life cash, the audience for this game will always be niche and predominately male. Ur fantasy of everyone buying into it will neither exist within the eve universe or real life. A niche is a niche and any semi decent business should realise they should cater for there customers not somebody the liked the look of as they pasted them in the street.

CCP is a business, not a game.
If they try this, EVE will for all practical purposes be dead in a year.

Really do you have any numbers to back that up? How has this been working out for CCP so far? They are nearly bankrupt and deep in debt. Yeah good strategy for a business.

Maybe, they need room for WOD after all. What is impressive is the long run and the dedicated player base with 7+ years of game play. I can't think of ANY game that held my attention for more then a few months so they definitely have something unique to offer.
