new update requires a decent video card, is there a way to turn off the update and still play?

Edited by: Salient on 22/06/2011 21:31:12 In the graphics settings tab, uncheck the "load station environment" box. It's horribly optimized considering that MMOs have been using 3D models in similar environments for more than a decade.....

Yup you can, but they plan to remove that button. (Which would be stupid).

I don't understand you...
I can play with CQ on 3 years old DELL laptop that I use at work. On medium details with low shaders and no antialiasign, but smoothly. At home I run CQ with my GTX 260 on 2 screens (huge sum resolution 3360 x 1050) using hi settings (everything on HI & best) and I have minimum 26 FPS.

So what are u using? Riva TNT 2? ____________________________________________ Character creation using 2 screens |

What you have to understand is some of our fellow players play on what are, in computer terms, ancient relics of the far distant past. Unfortunately, the game is finally maturing to a point where they will be forced to upgrade or stop playing. They're (justifiably perhaps) not happy about this. --Vel

I also got a geforce gtx 260 with all settings on high but no AA on a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and always get little "laggs" when i'm in fight with npc's ... i tried other drivers - tried to set the graphic details lower - no effect ... i have no other programms running! This is very annoying and i don't get it fixed ... half a year ago (i quit for half a year) everything worked perfectly

Those with extremely old graphics cards which support shader model 2 will have to upgrade. I had an ultra old dinosaur which I allowed my friend to use to get on his account when he would occasionally come over to my house. It doesn't matter if you want to disable CQ, the client will refuse to load at all if it detects you can't handle shader model 3 or better.
It's unfortunate, but that's gaming, computer and otherwise. Eventually you have to upgrade. Luckily, for people using really old systems, you can find agp cards that support shader model 3 on newegg for relatively cheap.

dude a cheap $50 gcard would get that old pc working again. most cards support shader model 4 for years now.
