I found this quote interesting..perhaps CCP should listen to their bedmate.
We've learned a thing or two with our experiences with the NGE and don't plan on repeating mistakes from the past and not listening to the players. ųJohn Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment
Taken from the Star Wars Galaxies wiki page.

One other game comes to mind.
TRIBES: VENGENCE
The developers never listened, the game FLOPPED, they said the same thing. They regreted taking on the franchise.

There is also no shame in admitting a mistake and planning for a good resolution. People respect you for people open and honest on stuff like this.

Don't plan on not listening to players is a double negative, which means they plan on listening to players. Go back to first grade and learn basic english before posting please.

Of course he didn't mean it. If he did he'd have offered Pre-NGE at least on alternate servers, which they never did.
Not to mention they did the same things to their EQ/EQ2 customers. First the introduced servers with RMT on them, said that the RMT shops would be on THOSE SERVERS ONLY.
Then about a year later cash shops showed up on EVERY server with no prior notice.
MMO publishers don't tell the truth often, nor do they keep promises. Just like politicians.

Same happened to EQ2 when SOE added MT and simplified the game. It's on the verge of death now.

Nonsense. It's obvious that the great mind of ccp soundwave knows best and players are just there to buy imaginary clothes for sweet, sweet $.
Players are stupid. Company knows the best, because the company develops. Players just care for the game. Caring gets in the way of doing business.

It's great if he actually means it, but over the course of several SOE games I've learned one thing above all else: John Smedley doesn't give a **** what players think. Not before SWG, not after.

Um..OK, but this wasn't about another game or game company. It was about a quote I highlighted in reference to EVE's direction.
But thanks anyway for moving my thread to die in OOPE. --- So should this guy be fired or promoted? |

Like it would not die in the dredge knows as GD. If you pilots really have the sway you think you do then start telling people in game to start reading OOPE. It is nothing new to have these threads moved here and in the past many threads have stayed alive significantly longer in OOPE then in other forums so meh.
That being said, listening to your consumer base is always a good idea for a company to do.

You sir are absolutely right. I stand corrected.
OOPE should have a wider audience.
@CCP Navigator: I retract my statement. Have a nice day. ----- A word from John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment -wiki |

I was there for the failcascade that was the NGE. I watched as Sony, CCPs new buddy, destroyed the game I and many others loved. I see the beginnings (middle?) of the same thing happening to EVE now. The same. Exact. Thing. Refusing to listen to what the commuity wants, internal documents expressing disdain at our opinions, lack of development on the core features of the game.
Maybe I should just go back to Asherons Call and wait for SWTOR or something.
