Perhaps CCP's relationship with Sony puts them too close to Sony Online Entertainment. This about on par with the SWG's NGE.

Nah.
Anything can happen in the next few months/years.
-CCP could clean house and hire new people for a new direction.
or
-CCP could crumble and be bought out by another company.
Anything can happen.
If such a thing did happen one promotion gimmick would be to say, we still have your old account...come join the new EVE under different management.
wishful thinking yes, but better than nothing. And no, i wont be back until some positive, player enhancing changes are made....but till then, I'm keeping my stuff.
EDIT: Of course CCP could pull this one: We are cleaning out all old inactive accounts, so if you want to keep your stuff you better sub-up or you will be biomassed regardless.
That wouldn't surprise me. ----- A word from John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment -wiki |

Yes, because a company that vastly improves their games overtime is going to crumble because some change fearing simpleton is raging on the forums.

WOW.. okay I will admit that this wasn't the best expansion, but I sure do love all of the tears... my space ship is fueled by them.
But to say that this is a NGE level event.. Means you sir are quite ignorant, and most likely talking out of your ass... Having been around in SWG for NGE. I can safely say this is not a NGE event. So please... Double check your facts before post.
Thank and have a nice day.

It all comes down to $$$$.
For all the positive that you may see, if the majority see a negative and mass-unsub, then the verdict is in.
Loss revenue means: we screwed up even though we thought it was a good idea.
Happens all the time in business.
Of course, CCP could stay in business catering to the lowest common denominator player just interested in purchasing his way through the "game" and having pretty vanity items to buy as well as skillpoints, ships, standings, security status and all the other things that once required "grinding" to achieve.
All you need it to study Credit Card Use Lvl 1-5 under your skills.
In which case EVE will simply become the McDonald's of the MMO world. ----- A word from John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment -wiki |

Like grinding is all the honorable? All grinding does is keep people running from every fight they can't win because they don't want to lose their ships...

Grinding is part of the game investment..just like skills. it took that vet years to get where he's at, so he is entitled to his advantage. Versus someone who just purchased it?
It's not a mater of honor, it's a matter of gameplay and most all MMOs are long time investments rewarding players for sticking with it.
If you want to remove the "grind," that's fine...but you cant say it's the same EVE anymore. May as well call it something else. ----- A word from John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment -wiki |

Why would you do that?
Theres a chance CCP will be scared straight.
Simple canceling is really enough because they now have to actively persuade yto give them money again.

There is only way to really quit.
It involves finding a shady site/person who might possibly see real life value in your assets. Then arranging a transfer with that person.
When CCP Seerg comes a knocking you say, "gtfo your game is ****, at least it paid for these new pants I'm wearing"

I've been pragmatic about the different updates I've seen over the past few years. I realize that not every pilot will like every change and I've adapted. This time, it's not a small issue, this has a lot of players upset including myself. This time I did cancel my subs, one ends 26 june, second one on July 6th and the last on July 17th. Hopefully before then, CCP will see to reason and fix this mess.
"Cool, Ima gonna go get my 7th account in your honor so they don't lose anything because you left...." add to that 8th, 9th and 10th then because I'm leaving as well. Nobody can has stuff, I'm keeping it in case CCP fixes things, then I'll hold up my end and re-sub.

People can have fear of change if the change in unknown or the results of the change are unknown.
If there is any fear in upcoming changes then it's because CCP are not being fully honest about those changes. It may not be in their best interest at this time as it could result in more leaving.
It's much more likely that people are just unhappy with the changes and the know proposed changes that are likely to follow.
Should people trust CCP, I don't see why they should based on past performance.
