With this leak, we can clearly see that CCP dont intend to work on EVE anymore, but just milk us, the gamers, until we are all dry. And the CM are only here to buy some time until the deed is done.
I joined EvE because of the relation between the community and CCP. Now I see that CCP just want to be exactly like others company, and dont want to do a good job, but just making fast money, even when there is more and more players coming in.
I seriously consider to quit. If they do as they say, this game will lose all its fun very soon.

CCP wont listen. They treats us like dumb kidies who will blindly spend their cash anyway. Well fu CCP !
If you dont understand that we want you to actually work on your game, to make it better, then you will continue without us. You are ruining your games with that sims-like **** and paying content.
This is the last warning guys, you are crossing the red line.

I'm shocked. It's exactly what i feared this game was becoming. I won't unsubscribe now but im itching towards that. Guess what CCP devs? Any bad move its -1 less paying your bills here.
You guys are SO doomed for dust and world of vampires. You have no idea. You guys really thought a 300k player community would bend over to your will and pay a montly fee AND microtransaction? You guys think too high of yourselves.
Wake up CCP. You are not Blizzard. You mess up with your ONE game and theres nothing else left for you in gaming industry. Nobody outside EVE knows what is CCP, what is Dust or World of Vampires.
NOBODY. Wake up now, stop Microtransactions for good if you want to keep paying your bills at the end of the month. You caused so much damage that nothing less than critical will be tolerated. You guys might think that some players will pay for everything no matter what, youre right. these are the addicts.
But thy are not enough to keep the game population healthy. And when a MMORPG population takes a dive in, its the end. Check all other games in this genre that are striving to survive.
You guys had had a niche for 8 years and decided to slit your throats. Call the medics for emergency repairs and put the game as it was before ASAP before you die from blood loss.
Exactly. CCP dont get how serious this is. They are messing with their game, with their fanbase, and ask us to take it with a smile.
If this continues, it's the end for CCP.
And Blizzard may have their share of weakness, at least they take their game and customers seriously.

FU CCP, never been treated like that. You litteraly insults us.
I wont pay any more for this game. That's it.
I think from now on you are willing to make things your way, without gamers. Well, hope it works for you.
I will do the same and continue without you.

He atually believes Eve is an extension of the real world. He actualy beleves he innovated microtransactions into existence, and he actually believes he is changing the world.

Originally by: Norian Lonark I would say most people who care about the game are opposed to going down the MT for non-vanity items route. The majority of posts where people have come on to complain about the protesters don't even know what the complaints are about.
When the community that has spent years playing the game, not only playing but contributing by writing guides, making movies, writing applications etc. (making this empty sandbox a virtual universe) is replaced by people who just want to pay for convenience and who will leave when the next new game opens the soul and core of EVE has gone and it will be an empty shell the same as all the other failures.
4 years and never a thought passed that I was going to unsub. I was even going to reactivate my alt this week but with this I am now just thinking why bother. EVE was a wonderful vision and a wonderful framework which allowed an amazing community of passionate players to create a unique gaming experience, why on earth they are looking to destroy this and turn it into a soulless clone of everything else is beyond me.
I completly agree on this. As a MMO oltimer (i started in 1999, with UO), I know that ultimately, what makes the value of a MMO isnt the game itself, but the community (of course, having a game with deep gameplay helps a lot). A good community is the hardest thing to achieve, and it can totally change your in-game experience.
The anti-protesters and CCP dont get what's at stake here : it's the grip the community has on this game, the bounds that links this community to Eve's universe. For this community, Eve IS NOT like any other MMO. The gamers are a huge part of this game's success. And making of EvE a wallmart-online, is in total contradiction of the comminity's view about this game. CCP is stealing the game from us by doing this.
If you don't get all this, you dont get anything about this protest.

You'll all still keep raging and protesting. Because you're idiots.
Maybe you should actually learn about the protest's reasons, like :
1. CCP dont work on the game anymore, they simply wants to add a shop in it, and Incarna is its premisces. 2. CCP dont communicate with the community, since they have no interst in answering the gamers wishes anymore (but to make quick money with the stupidest of them).
The protesters' concern is that CCP is by-passing the community, which is the main value of any MMO. If the community has no grip on eve's universe anymore, then it also have no bound.
That's why there are protests. Not Incarna, not the monocle, not the AUR, but the lack of trust, the lack of love, the lack of concern about Eve, the gamers and the future of this community.

What would making me come back to eve : 1. NO P2W whatsoever. 2. New content soon (and i dont talk about Incarnia useless crap).
I want the devs to show they believe in this game as much as i do. Because Incarna/AUR is showing me the exact opposite : basically, CCP tells us the game is dying anyway and they want to make as much money as possible before it ends.
And, giving what they have done in the past years, it will take a lot of efforts to show me that they now care about the game and commuunity.

This is a very interesting presentation. Everyone should... MUST watch it!
This presentation will tell you why EVE Online WILL have a Cash Shop WITH GAME CHANGING ITEMS beyond vanity ones!! It shows that the business model works and why it will work in EVE too.
This is scary as hell. Well, it conforts me in the fact that F2P games are evil.
But i really hope Perpetuum wont fall in this.
There should be at least one MMO that respect its community no ?

Edited by: Govinda Sertan on 26/06/2011 23:38:37 There is a single reason for all the problems there is between CCP and the gamers fanbase :
1. Why do they stop caring about what we say ? 2. Why didnt they make any major effort to fix bugs, upgrade the game the past few years ? 3. Why they will only force Incarna-like features and online store from now on ?
Because they have changed their business model years ago. They dont intend to be user-friendly anymore. They dont intend to take advice from the community (CSM is an illusion of that).
They follows a new strategy : more and more and more paying content. And who cares if 5-10 % players go away, when the remaining will pay 2 times more than before to continue playing ?
It sure is sad. But consider the fact that now, even if they want to, CCP cant change their business model now. They are engaged. It's over.
TL;DR: expect more and more BS to buy time in days to come. And more and more 1000$ pants.

1: Us eve players dont pay the bills? We also make it impossible for CCP to introduce new people to eve (eve has ALWAYS been harsh to noobs, but now with goons and crew its even worse). If we dont help them grow, why would they listen to us? You think this is some sort of co-op? They have a company to run afterall.....
2: You obviously missed the dev blogs explaining all the work and code needed to go into getting incarna here? All the stuff about fetching data and stuff outside python and allowing c++ modules alot more freedom... If you lot bothered to read some times.......
3: again, READ THE ****ING DEVBLOGS. READ ABOUT TEAM BFF AND 0.0 IMPROVMENTS. FFS.
TL;DR : READ THE ****ING DEVBLOGS
1. Comon, this is how the gameplay works : the oldest are the strongest. What can anyone do about that ? Oh wait I know : what if you can pay your skills with $$ ? 2. Who care about the work to makes incarna : it wasn't worth it AT ALL from a gamer point of view. And everybody knows Incarna is just a 3D interactive windowcase for the new NeX store. 3. WHO ****IN CARES !!! Their strategy to implement P2W is so obvious now ! And it will makes the hole game pointless !
TL;DR : Who cares what CCP says, since what matters is what they DO : crap crap crap !

Quote: Bottom line: Code written in Stackless Python can only execute as fast as your fastest CPU core can go. A 4 or 8 CPU big-iron server will burn up a single CPU and leave the others idle, unless we span more nodes to harness the other CPUs, which works well for a lot of the logic in EVE which is stateless or only mildly reliant on shared state but presents challenges in logic which is heavily reliant on shared state, such as space simulation and walking around space stations.
then later in the blog....
Quote: If it forwards it, this happens in-place off the GIL; Machonet/Python is never invoked. This means our Proxies can route BlueNet packets entirely in parallel, and without the overhead of thunking to Python or de-pickling/re-pickling the data. How effective is this? We're not sure yet, but its somewhere between "unbelievably stunning" and "impossibly amazing" reductions in lag and machine load for systems where this is applicable. Seriously we can't publish findings yet, we don't believe them.
They had to do ALL this crap to make incarna work, which turns out to have MAJOR benis for us who like spaceships. Seriously READ THE BLOG.
Yep, that's what i feared : no point as been made here.
Yeah they worked to make Incarna, but again, for what purpose ? What gamer actually asked for a "Sims-in-space" extension to Eve ? Seriously : it's so useless, ineffective, badly optimized, that it's a shame. And the fact you get a door pic when you desactive shows what we can expect for the future.
Incarna is only the top of the incoming iceberg : the new AUR-based economy.

Quote: When EVE was young, development focused on helping players to do what they wanted to. When players began forming ad-hoc alliances, CCP introduced formal alliances. When players began using secure containers and logged off industrial pilots as supply depots in deep space, CCP introduced modular starbases.
Somewhere along the line, this changed and CCP began cultivating an adversarial relationship with the EVE playerbase on a strategic level. EVE players have shown little enthusiasm for Incarna, EVE Gate, and other recent projects, and CCP's response has been to try to force players to use them.
http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/26/eve-evolved-the-day-that-eve-online-died/
CCP has clearly changed his objectives. I can only guess its new objective : to launch a new AUR-based economy.

Edited by: Govinda Sertan on 27/06/2011 22:10:04 MT is only one of the main issue. The second one is the fact they dont care about their game anymore.
CCP is actually focus on 2 things :
1. WoD and DUST developpement. 2. Milking Eve gamers till they are dry, because the above point is requesting more money.
So yes. Eve is basically a farm now. And we are the cows.
Consider that all the money that gamers are putting in Eve since 2 years, is only used for developping other games and implementing AUR-based economy.
That's the reason i am mad. The game actually needs lots of attention due to tons of bugs, lag, and lacks of upgrades. And it wont get it any time soon, considering CCP dont care anymore.
