I'm an old school gamer. Been playing games since wolfensein 3d, doom, heretic etc. In my eyes gaming has gone down hill in the past couple years (since consoles really) but rather than turn this into a console bashing thread I'll say what I wanted to say.
CCP in my eyes has generally been an "old school" company in that their business model is what the old school devs did for their games. CCP went in different directions from everyone else in the market.
Instead of a grinding xp based system, they went with a time based system Instead of multi sharded servers, they went with a single shard, etc etc etc
Now we have this 180 degree turn and the things we all hate in other games are being added into eve. MT are evil. Gaming companies do it and force it upon us. The only reason I think they are remotely successfully with MT is because today's generation of gamers who didn't play original games when gaming first came about have no clue that this is evil and are shelling out mommy/daddy's money for crap such as DLC.
CCP, you've put probably one of the worst changes you could possibly do to EVE in game. You've now gone down the path that all other companies have gone down where as in the past you did things differently to stand out.
Is this CCP's NGE (Star wars galaxies reference)?? It may very well be.

You can shove your apologies up your asses. All what counts now, is action being taken, as in:

Likely also the smartest thing.
Before the cashflow eats too deep.
It would also mean they would get to keep the money that people paid for subscriptions and PLEXes while not having to provide any service in return, so it could save the personal wallets of the company owners...

QFT. If they'd stopped at selling only vanity items and hats and **** it would've been OK. But they progressed beyond that and started letting players buy uber items and letting servers sell "premium" memberships that were basically "Valve-sponsored hacks" giving people everything from unlimited ammo, insane speed boosts (Heavies running around faster than Scouts) and other incredibly gamebreaking **** (soldiers/demomen rocketjumping across the entire map, unlimited perma speedcloaking spies etc). I stopped playing TF2 awhile ago because of this ****.

The answer should be no. This is the following day, a simple no would suffice. Why haven't you said no yet? Vanity and all vanity we don't care what you do or charge for vanity, but don't touch stats, no new none-paintjobbed ships, no new ammo, no new drones.

Profits, CCP are what you get for maintaining a loyal customer base. Loyalty and trust are gained by being forthcoming and honest. We want to be proud playing EVE O. We are not your typical instagrats kid who wants its and wants it NAO!
You blunder like a little kid most of the time but we look upon it endearingly. Your playerbase is just that resilient. However, fail to heed our warnings and you will be in trouble. That shiny bright fire is not something you want to touch.
We play the game day in day out. We have the practical experience and know better than you how things will turn out (Sorry to say it but it had to be said). So take our advice on this abomination/travesty/monster/crapsack our universe is about to become. Look at all the WAAARGH! These people care deeply for this universe. You aren't going to encounter such love from the audience you intend WoD and Dust to cater to.
Build upon that loyalty CCP. Do the right thing and and we will take you to the sky. Do the wrong thing and we will all die. (Well metaphorically)

Just to throw in my .000000000000000000000010200101002 of a monocle here ...
CCP is avoiding the newsletter issue like the plague. They will divert all attention to the Monocle fiasco. As an aside, it must be handy to be so inept, when you get called out, you can distract attention to any one of the great number of frackups you've committed over the last 2 weeks alone!
The will avoid the newsletter because they've been caught red-handed lying to the community .. AGAIN! No MT - well only vanity MT - well only 2 week test of ships for AUR ... and on and on ..
Proof that CCP has been lying is this newsletter combined with some little mentioned game changes over the past few months: -Stored fittings .. 50 limit was pitched as a convenience to us .. now we know it was a set-up for MT -Faction Tower BP's disappearing .. sure to reappearing soon in the NeX -Sov Changes have been announced as an upcoming expansion .. sure to be tied into Aur rewards as CCP Soundwave envisions.
CCP, you lied, you got caught .. you don't get my money anymore.

my 2 cents. I left bigpoint gaming because they became the 'model' for choking every penny out of players they possibly could. What was once a great fast paced game you could play competitively for 10 bucks a month in the course of about 1.5 years had players spending as much as $100 US per week just to stay competitive.
It utterly ruined the game and many of us left and came to eve. If you want to chase money, start downsizing, because in 2 years you'll likely have 10,000 folks logged not 40,000.

Originally by: Azelor Delaria I've stayed quiet on this fiasco for long enough. I managed to see one of the CCP call me stupid.
In high school, I was called "stupid", not because I had a learning disability, but because I lacked common sense.
In boot camp I was called "stupid". As enlisted, I was called it. Now here I am, at 25-years-old, a full Captain in the United States Marine Corps. Who's stupid?
I expect a petulant child to come along and call someone he doesn't like a name. But for a company who needs us to survive saying that we are "stupid" for not falling into lock-step and doing exactly as we are told? We decide to use these forums and come together as a community, which is what you wanted since day 1 (at least your claim).
We come together, as a community. This is the first time I think I have honestly see griefers and carebears come together and say, "WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH YOU???"
World of Warcraft has an RMT system. However, those don't give you benefits in game. You get a sparkly pony (YAY!!!!!!!!), or a small companion animal. There is nothing that you can buy to give you a massive advantage. Everything is gained through your own actions. Say what you will, but at least WoW hasn't fallen to your level. Then again, they have a solid fanbase that hasn't been constantly **** on by their developers.
How many times have you lied to this community? How many times have we been told, "We are looking to build a relationship with you. We want you to trust us!" To be honest, the only relationship you have been consistent in giving is (not really) surprise buttsex.
We want things fixed in this game. We want issues that have been brought up for years addressed. We want you to stop with this Incarna BS and fix something, like hybrids.
AND WE WANT YOU TO KEEP YOUR GODDAMN WORD.
Tell me: if you lose EVE Online, what do you have? DUST? Wasn't that supposed to be set in the EVE universe? So what happens if EVE dies?
And what stops your competitors from pointing to EVE and saying, "Do you really want to play that when it's destined to fail?"
What about WoD? Your competitors are being given all the ammo they need here.
You have decisions to make, and you have something you have to do. However, integrity is like virginity: once you lose it, you can never get it back. At this point, you have to work for our trust. You have to not only support this game and show us it's still worth playing, but also that you as a company and as people are deserving of our respect and money.
What you do speaks so loudly that what you say I can not hear.
This post has to be quoted again and again an again. Btw, thx for giving me a 30 day forum ban on my other account for asking to free Hell. You think i care? youre wrong.

CCP, read this. Then read it again. Then delete all of your phone contacts to Sony Entertainment.

In on page awesome!
And with the risk of repeating what others said in the previous 100+ pages...
For me, having had the honor of following CCP from a very early stage, seeing how developers worked tightly with players to progress forward I'm _NOT_ suprised one bit over the view from CCP, as it was just a matter of time, after all you are a company, with the goal to make money (unlike most 3rd party developers in our community *hint hint* ) - so I'm not going to try and argue with you(CCP) on that note.
From my point of view, you're(once again CCP) is trying to save face by like not telling us what you have in mind in the fear of players leaving, and I think from most of the players view we only want you to be honest.
By lying to us, or "modifying the truth" you are seriously just stepping on our trust. Sure, honest will most likely lead to players leaving as well, but how CCP has presented itself in recent time isn't really giving any kudos in my book anyway. Be honest and we get mad, but you will still have our faith and trust, lie to us and we will be mad and not eager to give you anything, which tbh only gives you bad PR.
Now I don't claim knowing much about PR or how to run a company your size, but the general "hmm" tells me that being honest and losing 1000 paying customers would be better in the long run than lying and losing 500 players now and get a really bad PR event.
I think CCP is awesome, and I have nothing but faith for you guys since you are doing an outstanding job for us, but I must say, your communication has serious flaws, and it has not always been like that, maybe you grew to fast and it's understandable that it was easier to communicate with us when there was 20,000 people, compared to the what 500,000+ now?
But remember, in the end, we are paying your salary with our subscriptions. Talk to us, that is what we want, we want to feel a part of how New Eden progresses, be it with or without buying Monocle's instead of our Armani watches, we want to be a part of at least trying to push it in the right direction - not getting fed with lies and general "what we think you want to hear"-statements.
Keep up the awesome job, and that goes to ALL CCP employees, we want nothing but to be a part of the epicness you create.

Clothes, like everything else should be made by the players. A system needs to be put in place for this. Using rl money to buy pixel clothes will have limited success and never justify the development expense imo.
CCP would be better served to add clothing manufacturing and in doing so would create more professions and add to the content which would attract cutomers that are more in tune to the social aspects of mmo's. We could use some of them for sure.
Now that we have avatars are we going to have to buy everything with rl money that may be needed by them? That will never fly.
If we are going to have avatars then put in place systems for players to craft itmes for them.

One year ago, there was a dev.Let's call him "CCP shadow",who wrote, that there would be NO MICROTRANSACTIONS IN EVE,BUT VERY PROBABLY IN DUST" later we got the promise of "you'll have to wait 18 months but it will be worth it"
We on the other hand informed you, what to us, the playerbase is important to make the game awesome. but mostly got ignored.
INCARNA is a mess, and you know it.Nowhere near Awesome. But rather menacingly painful for Our Hamsters, and our characters look not even close to our portraits. At least this girl here.(And actually, all of my characters). Knowing how you behaved at Fanfest, and seeing your "Fearless" brochure now, how can you think,i would believe you devs one bit. The itemshop and 99$gate reek of desperation and ruin. But were just the straw to break the camel's back, it is an insult to those, that love the game for what it is primary (internet Spaceships).Yes i rooted for Incarna, the idea itself is not bad, but i thought, you'd actually deliver on "excellence" and "no feature left behind".
You lied from the get-go,so it appears to me. We are asking word from CEO, CFO CD, whoever has actually something to say.Just please don't send us a Dev, to sing Lullaby's that is just another insult.

Originally by: Poetic Stanziel I quit LORD OF THE RINGS ONLINE, not because they implemented Free-to-play or microtransactions (even though I chose to subscribe), but because they started to design inconvenience into the game, and then sell options and items to eliminate that inconvenience (instant transport stones, etc.). They even started removing core components from the game and then selling it back to the players (i.e. relic removal on legendary items.)
They were making money doing that. They have larger plans to continue doing so.
I do not want to play any game where developing inconvenience into a game, simply to sell the elimination of that inconvenience back to the player, becomes a design principle. That is the DEATH of a game.
I had no problem quitting LOTRO. I'll have no problem quitting EVE if it appears this is what is happening. So far, the microtransactions have been vanity, and that's fine and cool (although the prices are ******edly expensive), but if CCP Soundwave's opinions (vis a vis The Newsletter) come to fruition, then I am outta here.
(And it also irks me that I have to have a negative reaction to CCP Soundwave, since he won me over during the tournament. Even if he's a super funny guy, he still has some super ****ty opinions on where to take microtransactions.)
This. Cosmetic transacions are fine at any price. Great even in that we can use a lot of isk to get it. Pricing is fine.(not that I would buy)
But, we are worried about where it fgoes from here. The idea of aurum for fittings storage, or ammo or standings....this is wrong in every possible way. Never mind the LOTRO examples where the game is a pain to play without it. This view is re-enforced by the newsletter.
This is what I have a problem with. it never stops with just cosmetics.I don't want to have to pay a sub and extra costs just to enjoy the game...I simply won't and the very istant I have to pay RL extra's for something in game that is not cosmetic i will not pay my subscription. No rage post, no whine..I will simply go. ______ Hello WoW players. Look at your toon, now back to me. Ok I have a plan for CCP!
1) Rub face on ground like shamed Japanese man 2) Close Eve to reduce bleeding and turn off the heavy servers. 3) Disconnect DUST from Eve and get it to market to cover depts. 4) Wind up any development and sell off the old assets. 5) Payout the team that remains. 6) Form up anyone who remains who isn't a ****er and has ideas that aren't ****. 7) Create another game company in 6-7 years.

I dont think you managed to really understand what the uproar is all about.
How about this:
Put a vote up on the "Ad displays only once"-place in the login screen:
1. Shall CCP remove all microtransactions from eve forever? Yes/No
2. Shall CCP keep developing games towards the playstation demographic? Yes/No
3. Shall CCP focus on implementing features the player want or features the game designers want? Players/Game designers |

TL;DR it highlights that while CCP was publically and repeatedly telling us they weren't going to use microtransaction system and weren't going to sell advantageous items for RL money, the exact opposite was actually true.
