I'm just so disappointed in CCP. And I just resub'd the other week for a year. The bummer is I'm actually thinking that was a mistake now...

Just because someone got different opinion ? Really ??
Well you can try to explain why. Instead of it. It would be actually far more productive.
Nerves are frayed, some are tired, many have done the explanation many times and are simply tired of doing it. Doubt they meant anything personal by it.
The main over riding issue is that micro-transaction items require virtually no input from the sandbox to create. For example, a ship magically created removes all the potential game play that the production of that ship would have required from the sandbox.
This removal of game play, of value, is taken from the noob miner to the 0.0 miner, to the can flipper to the hot dropper and his 23 SuperCap friends out on a Sunday afternoon drive. Each micro-transaction created item takes a tiny bit from everyone, as more and more MT items are created, those tiny bits add up until the sandbox has no meaning.
Purely cosmetic vanity items, although they could have an impact on certain aspects of the sandbox, they have a far less value at a mechanical level, and thus, have far less mechanical impact on the sandbox.
Although some argue PLEX is a micro-transaction, this is demonstrably false. The ISK for which that PLEX is sold, was collected by someone in the game doing whatever it is they do. Thy put forth an effort and got a reward of ISK. They then trade that ISK for a PLEX. The guy who sold the PLEX now has the ISK, and the other guy has the PLEX. Nothing was added or removed from the sandbox, except the need for one or both of them to break the EULA. CCP profits and the players profit from PLEX.
The only ones who profit from MTs are CCP, and they do so not only at the expense of the $Cash spender, but of everyone in the game that now no longer has the opportunity to participate in the creation of the MT created items.
MTs are theft.
Worth reposting, since it's apt to be lost in the churn.
In other news, while it's fun to scream for CCP Soundwave's head... it's vastly counterproductive. While I really love some of Helicity's contributions to the game universe it's sort of silly to expect a major company to fire an employee for something stated in an OP/ED piece. Yes, it's likely the vision of Eve's future but you KNOW he's got c-level backing to put that opinion in that piece. CCP's corp. level agrees with what he's saying to some extent, or they wouldn't publish it. Even with the boilerplate tag line on the bottom.
You don't fire someone for expressing an opinion, you let them quietly resign and shuffle out. Hell, I'm fairly certain CCP didn't even fire T20, and that was a big PR fiasco.

I might as well add my $.02 to the litany of posts that won't be read.
Issues are I see them: 1) NEX: The cost of items in the NEX (or whatever) is irrelevent to me; I won't be buying anything there. I think it's more of an obscene joke, personally, and am enjoying thinking of people spending real money on virtual items ala Farmville. 2) BUGS: new ones have been introduced, and old ones still exist. 3) NO QA: put brutally, CCP's QA sucks. Been a professional developer for over 25 years and if I put out something personally or for an employer that was as badly tested and dished out at the last few updates, I'd be fired. Period. 4) New features that tax subscriber hardware that previously had no issue. 5) WALKING IN STATION: simple thing to do here, CCP: toggle a switch in code so it's enabled in Sisi where players/beta testers can play with it over time, but it stays off on TQ. I'm a long-time coder, used to working on complex machine code for telecom switching software: I know exactly what it takes to build global switches for software, so don't bother with the "we couldn't do it because of this or that".
CCP needs to rethink/restructure it's QA/testing/rollout procedures, because they are obviously flawed. Adding a new layer to the dev/rollout system won't kill CCP's income; it might even enhance it when stuff works (for the most part) when you put it out, getting you more income through player subscriptions.

Originally by: Lidia Zarmel I don't see 50% or more of the EVE player base quitting over the CQ problems. I haven't experienced any problems in relates to performance. . .. but I tested everything on CCP's test server.
Won't take 50% leaving over this "expansion" to hurt CCP. 20% would do.
I see a quick 20% loss followed by another 20% quitting after the next expansion when CCP keeps none of their promises. Aurum is going to be a net money loser for CCP. How the hell did they ever think $70 for an ingame bauble was a fair price? How much of their World of Twilight/DUST budgets are based on people FLOCKING LIKE MAD to those $70 baubles?
The only other situation I have ever experienced regarding a VERY UNPOPULAR unwanted fundamental game change that can be compared to this was the NGE. SWG had 250,000 subscribers at the time the NGE was announced. From what I was told later, they lost 100,000 almost immediately, was down to 100K total 6 months later and fell below 50K 2 years after the NGE. Today they are believed to have about 10,000 subscribers.
It it not at all inconceivable to think that EVE will fall in a similar fashion. If the subscriber loss is even HALF that (which is looking far more likely than keeping a steady or small decline at this point) it will still be enough to cause massive layoffs at CCP, cancelation of whole projects and the sale of the company.
If CCP loses 100K subs in the next 3 months due to Aurum/Incarna, it's GAME OVER. They won't be able to sustain their plans. And you know what, they shouldn't be able to. When you offend those who give you money they stop.

I think Pann might have mistyped (as she did with Nobel/Noble) and put that instead of NeX/Microtransaction. That's the chief concern atm, and of course there are the other more immediate ones and of course the longer tail concerns that many of you have mentioned here.
Just stop posting.
EDIT: and get us a dev with straight "yes"/"no" answers.
I think this has gone beyond any dev. This will need to be resolved with a press release signed by an officer of the company commiting the whole entity to a very explicitly stated policy. What exactly will they sell for AUR and what exactly will they never sell for AUR. No more "We have no plans at this time to..." type statements.
If Hilmar attaches his personal liability to it under penality of a big fat class-action and appoints someone to oversee him then maybe.
"of course the longer tail concerns that many of you have mentioned"
So Manifest? You know what the-long-tail is?
Then you'd know that you've already lost the glue that holds it together?
Why didn't you tell the Evegate team about the-long-tail?
Why didn't you talk about it when esculating the CPU/GPU cost so high?

Instead of an in-game protest, we should just do a day without logging in. Have as many people spread the word not to log in on 25.6.11. If we could drop the concurrent user number by a noticeable amount, it would be a nice blip on the graph for them to have to explain.

Dont make judgement based on what you read on forums. For about an year you got working game whatsoever.
Its the direction it could go which is disturbing, not the near future.

Hehe, something like this have slipped through my mind.
This can't and shouldn't be done, however. Starting with the fact that legal definition of such thing will be vague at the best.
But way more important, it screams of untrust and suspicion from both sides. It is like living with the gun pointed to each others head. May be thrilling for a while, but then I would ask myself - what forces me to do this stupid thing ? There probably are other places where we don't need guns.
tl/dr, if there is only suspicions, no EULA will help you. Better just to put that thing from it's misery and be done.

Better to have it locked at this point, until people realize what a request for parley is.

Originally by: Laserham Lincoln The prices in the Noble exchange are a surprise, but they don't have me terribly upset since I wasn't planning to buy them anyway. More importantly, whether a monocle is ten cents or a hundred dollars (or 100 isk or a billion isk) has no bearing on the core gameplay of EVE.
What has me very concerned is the apparent shift towards trying to be both a subscription model and MT model game. What attracted me to EVE in the first place is the player-driven nature of the economy. No matter how much money you spent on PLEXes, someone still had to mine the veldspar that got turned into the titan you bought. Same with standings, and everything else in EVE. You can turn PLEX into isk, but the things that those isk buy is player created.
A MT model ruins this. The moment you can transfer real money into things that affect the mineral market, PVP, or anything else beyond what your avatar looks like, you've compromised the basic tenets that made this game great.
If you pursue this MT model, I have no doubt that despite all the complaining on the forum, you will sell your MT ships and ammo and weapons, because for many people winning is the only thing that matters. I can only tell you that I will not be one of those people, and that if this comes to pass EVE will not be a game I want to play anymore.
This pretty much sums it up for me.
