And if you are going to sell Special Ships and T3 Amoo for AUR you will brake the Game !!!!!!!
The EVE Community will not accept this !!

Wow, I just read the devblog and I must say I find it has a dishonest feel to it and is most disappointing.
I did however find it hilarious in that it mentioned real life pants, considering that they are selling imaginary computer-game pants at several times the cost of actual real life pants. At least CCP still have a sense of humor (oh wait, he wasn't making a joke). He put... creatures... in our bodies... to control our minds. He made us... say lies... do things. |

Dear rioting idiots,
This week has seen nothing of obvious significance to myself to unfold. In almost the same instant as we deployed Incarna - which by the way is definitely the only reason why I'm even bothering to answer you driveling idiots - an internal newsletter with rather controversial topics addressed leaked out. To further compound the rage there was a clear and rather large gap in virtual goods pricing expectation and reality with pretty much all of you. Iæm going to address both these issues right here. Which are not anything you care about because that's all been answered before, or you just don't care about.
Fearless
Fearless is one of our company values. Itæs also the name of an internal newsletter that has been designed and developed specifically to catalyze discussions on controversial topics. One of the biggest elephants in the room these days, only for the gaming industry as a whole, is virtual goods sales and microtransactions. Something EVE has never had, never wanted to have, and was planned to not have.
Therefore we dedicated an entire issue to exactly that topic. Itæs worth mentioning that the topic of the issue was "Greed is good?" as a way to ask a question that would then be debated back and forth and often exaggerated purposefully to draw contrasts and make points. The result of that is now widely available on the internet.
(snipped)
(snipped pricing nonsense analogy)
We will gradually introduce items at other price points, definitely lower and probably higher than whatæs in the store today. We hope you enjoy them and are as passionate about them as you are of the current items that are for sale. Because they will all affect gameplay because **** you that's why.
I hope I have not addressed your concerns and done nothing to solve the issue at hand. We're peacing out for the weekend, thanks for a great expansion release!
Thanks,
Arnar Hrafn Gylfason
Senior Producer of EVE Online

CCP doesn't not think EvE is a game. They said so at FanFest. They believe EvE to be real. No. I'm not kidding. They said that.

Shall I keep saying this until you figure out that, due to your PR-Leak and fiasco, you need to reassure us of this? And not some half-assed promise...
If so, i'll happily repeat it: WILL AURUM/DIRECT-MT STAY RESTRICTED TO VANITY ITEMS ONLY? WILL AURUM/DIRECT-MT EVER SPAWN ITEMS OUT OF THIN AIR?

Surprise, surprise. A devblog full of self serving vapid trash about your new "gorgeous" product. A devblog that took you TWO days to write when the community is in UPROAR, with nearly 200 pages of responses to your frankly weak request for calm and poor communications.
This devblog gives us nothing, you have not addressed our "concerns" at all. You've just glossed over them. Gone oh well "LOL GUISE, INTERNAL NEWSLETTER, MY BAD". It's really confusing to me that you would have to put all that into a newsletter in the first place. If it's not representative of company opinion, why is it printed in the company newsletter? Why not have a meeting where there's less chance of your slimy money grabbing plans slipping into the wrong hands? I guess I'm old fashioned.
What about the direction of AURUM? And the direction of EVE in terms of Microtransactions? You never even mentioned the one thing that is driving the EVE community to it's biggest showing of collective rage since I started playing. What about CQ? Are you sorting out performance issues? Is it staying optional? The questions are all endless and unanswered, you should see, there are 200 pages of them.
As per your assumption that we're all soooo angry about the price of the clothing, you're clearly blind. The monocle has become a symbol of ridicule. Clearly, you know this and you know that the prices are ridiculous. Have you EVER bought a $1000 pair of jeans? I know for a fact that I never have. I'm not vapid enough to put my entire self confidence into a piece of material stitched by people earning 20 cents an hour. And that's REAL clothing, this is PIXELS.
It's really insulting to your customers for you to consider us only interested in your hyped up pixel Barbie closet if it has the extortionate price tag it has at the moment. I like to consider EVE players to be quite savvy and I can tell from the reactions of so many people unsubbing that we have had enough.
Your company is completely blind and it will be your downfall. This devblog could have saved you but it's another steaming turd of lies, delusion and insult.

Is that dev blog a joke? Or has the whole CCP Staff lost their ****ing minds .....
Did they even read any of the posts in this thread? 19x Pages full of people raging against MTs and against CQ and against even the IDEA that MTs for anything else than vanity items will get implementet.....
Right ... 1000$ Jeans well thats a good real life example ..... But if I buy a stupid 1000$ jeans I actually own a 1000$ jeans (not that I ever would) but spending 60$ on a piece of virtual glass?
Anyways that isn't what the main rabble is about
It's about CCP lying to the players about what they were going to do ....
Right it all starts with an ishukone watch scorpion because "code is broken ... sorry can't request scorpion in NeX" ... then it moves on to ammo, slots for fitting (yeah they must take up a lot of space (server wise) so that you have to sell them for 7$ or so a piece (also probably very heavy on the database)), etc. ...
The problem with that internal newsletter is that it very well shows that you treat eve as a cash cow and openly state that you do so... Also you are freely playing around with the idea of implementing non vanity stuff ... even that idea is forbidden.... You promised the playerbase there will be no non vanity MTs and by clearly thinking about them you make us question the validity of your promise ....
I'm really disappointed to see what has become of this game in the last 6 years ... I've been with you from almost the beginning and I've looked upon the recent changes with sad eyes ...
Why won't you listen to the mass protests of players and a thread with 19x pages that tell you that you ****ed up big time....
You post a dev blog that is basically "Don't worry all is fine ... That internal newsletter was just that ... internal so don't worry eve is going to be fine hahah hahahahahahahah ........ (*silent retreat*)"
It reeks ... it reeks of greed CCP
Please don't let your lust for money overtake what EvE embodies in its fundamental values
I'm personally a fan of combining various genres of games into one universe (which is why I was hyped when you announced dust) but since it seems like you want to make it so that you have to spend lots of money on that game (not a subscription but it basically boils down to even more money you have to invest imho) so that you can start milking that aswell .... I really don't get it ...
If you don't change the way you do things ... I'm out of EvE even though it breaks my heart to do so

Congratulations, you just did exactly what a corporation should never do in a credibilty crisis: you blew past our concerns and justified your actions by stating that your corporate goals had been reached.
Good luck with your new revenue stream and your new fanbase. The old loyal one is leaving in droves and the new one will follow just as quickly when the next flavor of the month MMO hits.

Eve has afforded a very devoted community the last 8+ years because the players were made to feel they were part of the progress and growth this game has had. So on that note let me say the following.
We have higher expectations of CCP and those that represent it because we have been your best advertisement and many of us have multiple accounts which we have paid for year after year now.
A leaked document shouldn't have had to come out in order for CCP to have to face the community with it's plans. We've been very supportive in the past and have tried to step up with suggestions on how to improve things to appeal to people that play the game and to also help you bring new memberships to continue to support our beloved Eve. Shape up and be honest with us and resolve to include us with your potential plans moving forward and we will continue to support you.
Incarna.. Sorry to tell you guys but you rushed this expansion out and it wasn't ready. I personally have no need of the CQ and was annoyed when my in station ship spinning was no longer an option. To have to stare at a wall or turn on a memory and resource hog, well I guess staring at the wall was my best option. You guys need to slow down and not push so hard to put out a product that shouldn't have passed Q&A testers. Many said it wasn't ready on Sisi. What logic was there behind deploying a product that was no where near ready?
As far as the store items, I could care less about any of that. I think it's wrong how you're handling it but personally I pay enough with my multiple accounts and I refuse to spend more to support DUST 514. If you guys want that to work you had best get used to the idea of it not costing players more money when things are tight for everyone right now.
You guys are looking at your wallets but not after the customers. Remember that right now a great many that play are on tight budgets and adding yet another cost to play the game is not likely to go over well.
Either way, what you guys do from this point on will be reason for people to stay or leave. I would advise including your community in future plans and working with them because from here on out, everything you guys do will be subject to scrutiny and lacking trust in CCP.
Take it for what it's worth.. I never have trusted you guys because your customer is wrong until we say they're right mentality has always wore on my nerves.. |

Edited by: Laxyr on 24/06/2011 21:31:45 This dev blog is a piece of non information. I expected nothing else, you need to calm the situation down by all means necessary. Now if that story about the "intentionally exaggerated writing" is true I do not know. I do know that you could have hardly let this newsletter stand on its own, making you look like greedy douchebags and all... even if it was true. Again, I do not know but we would have received the same kind of prefromed information in both cases.
And no, you did absolutely NOT ease any of my concernes or adressd any of the issues raised in this thread. You have lost your credibility. The only way to restore it is complete disclosure. What are your future plans for EVE in detail? What's the next step of the NeX Store. Your community relation has taken a serious hit here. Do not make it worse.
You better get back into another meeting... and quickly so.

Perplexed Did he really wrote that? Did he compare real life items with pixels on screen? Pixels that you can create once and copy at nauseum? Unbelievable. On the other hand nah, it is not unbelievable, it just shows the mentality of some people with monocles. Yeh true, you don't need to buy any clothes ingame but on the other hand you dont need to play this game too.

Ok Guys,
I managed to stay out of this until now. I understand all the feelings involved. However after reading the blog post I couldn't resist. The fact is I'm not worried about the article. Sure, it was a suggestion and no they didn't say they aren't going to do it.. but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
To quote the blog : "People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop."
So with that logic (The logic that says since you pay large amounts for clothing in real life, you should here), we can apply the same logic to pay to win items. So if I wanted to go out and AUR my way to a nice new faction battleship... it would only cost what... a couple billion dollars USD?
Monocle - $60 USD Designer Quafe Jeans - $300 USD New Plasma Screen For CQ - $5000 USD Navy Issue Raven - $500,000,000 USD
CCP's logic on NEX pricing based on real world values - Pricless.
