Originally by: Holly Cleland Christ, when will we hear from CCP this is a total joke.
If previous form is anything to go by, they will bunker down until Tuesday then isue from trite "catch-all" statement about "listening to the players"... announce they are going to YET AGAIN, improve communications via the CSM (What a joke) and then wait for the furore to die down.
They've done it many times before, and it's worked.
This time, that MUST NOT be allowed to happen.
We will not go quietly into the night! ... |

But, if ever CCP decides to SELL that, SP, faction standings, then commitment and effort goes right down the tube, and it truly wil be he who has the most disposable income can effect in days what most of us had to work years to achieve.
I really love this game and hope this will never happen, but it kind of feels like the scrapping of learning skills may have been a step in that direction.......
"Eve is hard" has got to remain the core message.
Thanks.

See you all there.
Actually, it's sort of bad.
That would be fine, since Eve is bad.... But PO does not have the excellent playerbase to make it great. Not like Eve doe...did.
I don't think Eve started out with a big playerbase. You earn it.
Yep, earn it, keep its trust. We are Eve's content. We can be someone else's content. We move our wallets to someplace else.
Midas can choke on his Aurum apples for all the good it will do him. We the consumer are the arbiter of real gold, of real money, of real value. With out us, Eve ain't jack.
Oh sure NewEveDone may go on a few years, turn Eve into a theme park full of happy rides and pimped up glamtards, but that never lasts long, fads die, real gold is forever - We have it, they want it.
Choose.

Hi, everyone
As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market.
Then you are blind, go get us someone else.
You have to admit that some people are vexed about the high cost of the monocle... but not because they would buy one at 3/4 the cost.
I think Pann might have mistyped (as she did with Nobel/Noble) and put that instead of NeX/Microtransaction. That's the chief concern atm, and of course there are the other more immediate ones and of course the longer tail concerns that many of you have mentioned here.
I personally find this response Manifest uttered OUTRAGEOUSLY insulting. Mistyped? You must be really tired, mister. I didnt fume with anger before yet, but do now!

For those who are fed-up with CCP's attitude, Perpetuum Online Devs and GM's respond to players and are a friendly bunch. Game itself is similar to eve in 2005. While its rough around the edges Im sure with extra players devs will make a great job out of the game.

The basic gameplay experience is still the same on the 25th of June as it was on the 24th. What has changed, through the coincidence of several events that I probably need not recap in detail right here (just listen to the EVE Radio panel recording), was a significant change in the underpinnings of the play. Although I'm sure it's been true for a long time, this massive PR failure has laid bare in a striking way the relationship that exists between CCP and the players. The happy assumption that the players were invited to come and experience a thrilling, challenging sandbox game and that the people who shaped its rules ultimately agreed with the community's vision -- that they were, despite being devs, fundamentally our fellow players/enthusiasts in the sandbox (if not friends brought together by a shared love for a hobby) -- is rather rudely dashed by:
Quote: I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say.
That landed in our laps after the reversal on MT policies and disregard for the CSM, the wtf $99 idea, the flop that was AT9, the poorly-optimized CQ release (why not wait until you have a complete product to release anything?), being "shown the door" when opting out of CQ, the absurd NeX pricing, the Fearless leak, and Zulu's "have a nice weekend, jerks" non-devblog. In general, I'm not easy to offend, but after the fourth or fifth time a friend flips me off and tells me to go eat **** in one day, I start to wonder if they're not joking.
Some folks will argue the EVE is a product and as consumers we have a choice to purchase it or not. That's true, but it's not the way I think a lot of people look at it. It's not how I look at EVE. Rather than a product, many like myself see EVE as a shared project. EVE gameplay is about creation. It's about making what you will of the cluster--carving out a corner of the sandbox for yourself. What you do in the game, even what you say, matters. It is unlike any other MMO on the market and for a long time the dynamic that existed between the company and the customers felt more like a partnership than a transaction. The community and the devs were creating something unique together. CCP still has a chance to reclaim that image, but they've got a steep slope to climb to get back to the top of the hill.
Metaphorically, the rich kid who lives in a huge mansion with a fun park in the backyard invited us over to play, and for a while it seemed like he genuinely liked having us there and the fact that it was his house and his toys and his rules didn't matter because a sense of friendship trumped all that. Then one day, we overheard him telling his parents how he really felt about us and the opinions weren't very flattering. So, there's a choice to stay and keep playing because the toys are neat, but in doing so, you go on with the knowledge that your "friend" really isn't.

Edited by: Anansi Ink''Tmi on 25/06/2011 17:35:31 My thoughts on the matter:
When I read "Monetizing social acceptance in online games" I had to ask, where is the fun in that?
At no point did anything I read about anything that will enhance the player experience while playing the game other than A) role playing a pirate versus a golfer and B) preying on my desire to keep up with the joneses.
At least the golfer owns his clubs/shoes/caddy/tee's/hat/gloves etc. I don't really "own" a spaceship, you are just selling me the experience of being a space cowboy. At the end of the day, CCP owns everything.
I do not play a game for that, I play it to have fun and blow off some steam of real life, but I do not play a pirate. I do not want to have my wallet picked at every step of the way so the company to fund other projects. Don't change the game mechanic that will force me to dig into my wallet to play other than my $30 monthly sub.
Initially, I thought that CCP really cared about their loyal community, really cared about the customer base. After what I read in the newsletter, as well as the arrogant responses from some of the community management, I am starting to feel differently.
My question is: What are you going to do to show loyalty to your customer base, CCP? Are you going to ignore us, hoping it will blow over? Are you going to depend on the pereto principle that 20% of your customer base will make up for 80% of your sales. That 20% will buy your overpriced t-shirts and goofy monocles, paying for ships, skills and faction standings to keep up with the joneses.
I will not be part of that 20%, I just cancelled both of my accounts and speaking to alliancemates that intend on doing the same.
CCP has until August to fix this or I am out, for good this time.
How I propose you fix this?
1) Keep all MT's to vanity only. Are you going to lose some revenue from offering stat changing items as it said in the newsletter? Yes, but you will make it up in the long run by having more subscriptions and a growing, loyal fanbase.
2) NO SHIPS, MODS OR SKILLS FROM AUR SALES. Do not make this a pay-to-win game. New players are already behind a huge curve because of the time elapsed between vets and latecomer. Do not spike the pool with chlorine. Chlorine is a cleanser, a sanitizer. If you are working with chlorine, then kill bugs with it, don't use it to further sales. A clean, bug-free, well running game will sell more in the long run and just run longer.
3) Make CQ an option on entering a station. Enable people to just do a quick jump in/jump out feature. For all those people who are just changing a ship, playing station pvp games or just like spinning, give them the option to use the old station setup.
4) APOLOGIZE! I'm sure that a public apology would go a long way. Lift any bans ie: Helicity Boson and others that were banned for trying to speak their minds in this mess.
5) Listen to your fans. What do they really want? We want content. We want to enjoy the game to its fullest. A cash shop is not going to make EVE any more fun if I am playing space cowboy in $1000 jeans. But if I had a pair of $1000 jeans waiting for me at the end of this mission, plex, wormhole site, incursion etc. it would motivate me to play more. The carrot on the stick approach always works best in online game. Heck, Ole' Blizzard has built an empire on it.
I really can't think of more, this post is already slated for the TL;DR pile. But if someone from CCP does, I hope it makes some sense. After reading everything over for the past day or so I wanted to say my piece without too much emotion behind it.
Good luck CCP, I hope you can recover from this.

Even if they did say ok no we won't add those things..
What's the point in staying really.
They will just "feature creep" them in..
Either way, this is here now and comming later.
There is a wall, read it, and stop running or you will just run into it and cry after.
This is like telling politicans not to do something, they don't do it, then they creep it in later bit by bit.
You are all wasting your breath and time with this issue. Eve is no longer Eve, it is Entropia.
They don't care if you leave in masses. The new business model accounts for that.
Eve (Entropia) is now like a huge revolving door, new players come in, get mugged by the game, they leave..: repeat wrinse laughter.
This business model actualy thrives on the revolving door mugging model.
