What a joke Incarna is, all this time and CCP come out with CQ which isnt even finished, pushes people's computer hardware harder than before and is dull and boring.
Bring back the old ship spinning backgroud.
Now CCP introduces clothing lines and a ridiculously overpriced monicle. Whats next, ships, modules, implants or faction standing increases ?
We already pay a monthly subscription fee and now on top of that there's an option to spend more money on a game.
Are there any games where you have the developers putting both their hands in your pocket ?
If your going to use two hands how about giving us some enjoyment and a curtesy reach around.
My accounts will go inactive, I have three and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Maybe when CCP get their act together, and stop squeezing the life out of the game I may re-sub.
Fix the issues with the game and stop adding fluff to impress the peasants.

Edited by: spellbound spirit on 24/06/2011 10:18:13 I'm just wandering if CCP knows that their business is on a edge of a knife at this very moment. @ CCP - you went too far with spending our $$ on features that should bring you more casual players rather than keeping existing ones happy. IMO CCP calculated that if they loose some more dedicated players Incarna features will bring them equal numbers in casuals. They will literally have to pay for that mistake, as EVE has virtually NO CONTENT if it's stripped of it's dedicated playerbase. If 20% of dedicated WOW players leave, regular players wont notice, if 20% of dedicated EVE players leave(with their 2-3 accounts) everyone will feel that. I've been paying sub fee hoping you will fix my game and give my back some good fun solo/small gang 0.0 warfare, I'm not alone in the world so if you spend that cash fixing mining that's good, but if you're spending it on crap I'd have to additionaly pay for, that's a bit too much. It will be a funny day cause what happens now will be either fall or rebirth of EVE Online. oh and it's summer - there's no better time to leave a MMO...

greed vs deliverance = risk vs reward
When you start going into microtransactions and set yourself rules ie "dollars only for vanity" you should hold onto the rule. If you start going further you're going to get greedy(like any human would) and mess up the game quite fast. Key word here is greed vs deliverance. If you get greedy on us we require some payback... either by us pulling out the torches or by you giving us content.
If you go the way of cash for items of power it will create unfair environment. That is the main concern for alot of people including me. I'd also stay away from charging players to get useability/playability... talking here about extending 50 ship fittings limit. Sure it is extremely effective way to FORCE players to pay but if you force someone he's going to be quite unhappy about it. Do you want your players to feel they are making a bad deal?

Well, fear no more! You can now pay to sov! Call it: P2S. P2S is the fastest, and most secure way to have your alliance have sovs! It's only 100$ per month! What a cheap price!
And what do you get for this ****loads of money? You can sov an entire constellation!
But wait! There is more!
For an additional price of 15$ a week you can now: SOV in low-sec! That's right! You can get whatever you want, for a monthly 100$ + 15$ a week.
What a cheap offer, am I right!?

CCP why did you do this? I would gladly pay Ç2-5 per with my subscription, than see the game become an unbalanced game where the rich just simply buy their Aurum ships and implants and become the best in the game. I am disappointed, mainly because I thought CCP wasn't like the other companies. I thought that CCP cared about their community, that they valued their input. Perhaps you do, but you value your own forthcoming more, your chance to get more money is more important. Are we not feeding you enough?
Just keep the microtransactions to vanity items, I don't care if someone has a monocle or a skirt or a hat with a tuba on it. I just want to play my EVE ships. I'd like to see everyone be able to advance equally and not those with a fatter wallet be able to just come in, buy everything and shoot me in the face with better items that I can not afford. I know people can buy PLEX and do the same, but they still have the same items available as I do. Aurum ships? Paying for more fitting space? Uphill battle?
You may win the battle, CCP, but you will not win the war. I hope you give me reason to subscribe again, CCP. I really like this (formerly) unique MMO. Microtransactions puts you right beside APB: Reloaded and Combat Arms. ________________________________________________

I never got to experience any MMO company self destructions before
Now I am right in it :)
It's awesome fun to see a company destroy itself, really it is,
The fun part is, the people running the company just cannot see it.
The next thing on my list of TODO's is to watch a real live train wreck to compare it.

Charging dumb money for cosmetic items is stupid from a business sense (as no one will buy them). However, I don't really care and I'm laughing more at the people who are complaining about vanity item prices and the whole concept of the Noble Exchange at the same time. If you don't like the principle of $$$ for space pixels, then why do you complain about how much of it is required to buy essentially useless items?
IMO the concept of Aur for buying non-cosmetic in-game items like ships, guns, etc is fine as long as those items can also be bought via the GTC->Plex->ISK route for the same price or cheaper.
Of course, we, and CCP, know that isn't the end game for the Noble Exchange. Rumours (some with more credibility than others) continue to circle that CCP will be making non-cosmetic "power" items available that can *only* be bought with Aur. That is unworkable under the current "sandbox" model. It might be ok for a year or two, as the prices will restrict $$$ investment initially. However, eventually someone will assemble a critical mass of wealthy players into an alliance that will steamroll the rest (assuming most of the playerbase haven't unsubbed by then). |

Edited by: Khanid Voltar on 24/06/2011 10:24:43 First of all I would like to state that these are my own opinions, and may not represent fully the breadth of views that are held amongst your player base.
I learnt a long time ago there was little point in forum raging at CCP about a new feature, buff or stealth nerf. Examples of this could be 'Walking in Stations' way back to when it was first announced, the speed buff, or the abolition of ghost training with 1-2 days notice. And I guess with time, for the most part i have been able to see that actually these changes have actualy benefited the game, however much I may regret the change.
For that reason, after 4-5 years of hype, I was actually quite looking forward to seeing CQ in all its glory, even though I didn't want it and could see it was a poorly (if at all) disguised excuse to develop a WoD engine using Eve Dev time.
Do you remember way back when one of the best things about Eve was the close bond between Dev's and players? OK the players reaction to the T20 incident may have acted as a catalyst towards the expanding gulf between Dev's and players, but lets be fair CCP's reaction of banning Dev's taking part in 0.0 alliances seems to have have led to a complete lack of understanding of how godda** awful the Sov replacement system has been. Nor has there been any attempt to iterate it or explain how it will be eventualy when Dust comes out.
Anyway that is neither here nor now, I only mention it as an example of how things once were, and how things are now.
I don't really have a problem with vanity or non-vanity Micro-transactions (I know I am in the minority here), as long as they can be traded for isk. I have a problem with them being indestructible (OK that's fine for Dust, but for Eve it entirely breaks the immersion factor for me - I can die and be podded and lose my implants, but I retain my clothes?
Really?
I do however have a problem with Macro-transactions, which are the MT that was introduced with Incarna. I won't go into the detail of that as it has been explained many times before. Simply put your NEX items look so expensive it really looks as if CCP are trying to fleece their current player base, and force them into a shop (aka CQ) to buy stuff. And you know what? If the prices were more realistic ,your playerbase for the most part would have aquiesed (see Jade Constantine's post re: bling etc). I had certainly bought a plex or two to convert into Aurum but after seeing the Nex prices I decided not to.
I guess most of all that is my problem with CCP (note: not Eve). CCP seem to see their player base as a cash cow that they can milk as much as they want to fund other games.
That newsletter... it is worst example of PR I have ever seen in my life. You see so many companies IRL that start off small and focussed, then grow and need to change their ideals. Break promises that were once made. It happens. CCP does not exist to entertain me, they exist to make money - we all understand that business isn't personal; it's business.
Anyway I am waffling and I apologise. Effectively I am pointing out where CCP once were CCP now is. If you want to milk and mislead your player base that is your perogotive; many if not most large businesses do. But don't be suprised one day when that upwardly trending graph of subsrciber numbers starts to plummet, because you are effectively selling our loyalty for RL cash.
And as soon as a decent alternative comes up you can bet your bottom dollar that people will leave en masse. They have lost all faith in CCP as an ethical and caring business.
The only reason most people are still here is that there is no alternative available :yet:. Why be loyal to an organisation that shows no loyalty to you?

Fire the person responsible for establishing a business strategy which exploits your subscribers rather than provides a worth while service?
What's more likely is that there's going to be an extra level of security preventing any further possibilities on leaks. Having said this, my opinion is to make this mewsletter of your a PUBLIC newsletter from now on. Present the playerbase with a more clear view of what's going on behind the screens and what everyone behind the marble desks is concocting, prior to releasing it.
The CSM is the voice of EVE, they are the ones that represent us. It's tehir job to listen to us and relay the information and feedback they get from us to you (CCP). In order to make this work you will have to shine a light on what ever it is that you are cooking up behind the screens and actualy give the player bace something to discuss with the CSM so they can do their job and represent us.
It's not fair to them to be elected and than be forbidden to communicate with the people they are representing about what's going on behind the screens. I say, truely make the CSM the voice of the community tehy are suposed to represent and stop having them be barricaded in their movement to do their jobs.
