The word goose comes from the editorial, but he didn't use it himself. He did sign for the "yes" side, and he makes it pretty clear which side he is on when he advocates selling us more space for fittings. Remember, the things that used to be stored locally with no limit, then were moved to server side with a limit of 50? He wants us to pay money to lift that limit again.

Ok this is where you idiots start getting compared to that group of rather unfriendly people from a certain European country that decided another certain group of people weren't "needed" because they had different ideas and beliefs.

This is getting bloody silly
CCP Soundwave isn't exactly my best buddy right now and I'm pretty unhappy about the lead designer holding views like that.
However he didn't get to be in that position by magic. He's doing precisely what HIS bosses want him to do.
Calling for him to be fired is incredibly stupid, even by Eve forum standards
Direct your ire a bit higher up the chain of command mmmm?

Yes. His opinion is the opposite of what is in our best interest. We want to make it pretty damn dangerous for anyone at CCP to have that opinion.

I don't think he is a great guy. Probably like most everyone else in this world. Enjoys his job, and on account of his outgoing personality, he ended up a bit higher than he should be ... and was now used to play this role (without really understanding what is going on).
So, his bosses f%*& him up, but he went along for the ride willingly, and enjoyed it up to this point.
Fire him? Hell no! If Eve is to survive, give him a solid PR job. The kid's got potential (as long as he does some serious soul searching).
I think you guys are going after the wrong man.

There is a name you should remember; A. H, not a very nice man, leader of a "party" in a European country and had a bit of a thing against a different group of people. He used to say things like the tripe you are coming out with.
Having ideas is not a crime, should not be punishable by sacking and should not be subject to the approval of a low brow, antagonistic, and morally reprehensible idiot such as yourself.

I'm not sure if he actually asked his bank to fire his accountant over trying to sell him overvalued bonds or something. If he did that though, that'd be no different from what a lot of people did just very recently when their accountants doing just that led to the biggest financial crisis most people on this forums will have experienced so far.

They should put his head on a metaphorical spike for all to see.
Not because it is fair.
They should do it because they have zero credibility right now and they need to put a chilling effect on the people pushing for MT for power-ups that lowers the temp to sub-zero.
Without drastic consequences, the people pushing for MT will just start pushing for it again the second they can scuttle out of public view. |

About the same time it became ok to perform character assassination on, and call for the sacking of, an individual for having an opinion.

Fireing anyone is not the solution to the problem. Soundwave was only one of the voices inside CCP that are pro-MT.
The problem runs deeper than Soundwaves personal opinion.
I don't know what the solution is, but firing one guy sure is not.

You don't get it do you. This is acceptable because in the business relationship between CCP and its customers, he is one of the voices that want to shift the balance in favour of CCP. This is not in the customers' best interest, and not wanting to support that with our money makes perfect sense. This is how business works everywhere and this is what happens every time people vote with their wallets. I didn't come up with capitalism, but as long as we're stuck with it, this is how things are.

Edited by: Sovox on 24/06/2011 10:05:36 I say fire from EVE but not CCP tbh.
His views and ideas would by many be considered awesome by companies that think like him, SOE,Cryptic and about 100 other FTP MMO teams.
Maybe he could even head the new vampire MMO that CCP is working on, I am pretty sure he could turn that into a cash cow. After all the future of the MMO industry is all about item malls and cash shops. Eve on the other hand is an old game and people get used to the way it operates, and trying to take it into that direction would be a fatal mistake. I think people would just rather pay a hike in subs over a cash shop, i mean really for the past 10 plus years subs have been $15 USD a month for MMO's. So somebody has got to pull the trigger and raise sub rates might as well be CCP and let eve continue on its own path in MMO history.
EVE Online is truly a unique game and the newer models of generating money just does not fit in this complex and brilliant game.

No, you don't get it. It's never acceptable to fire someone over an idea, a train of thought. It just has to be made very clear that nobody wants his bull****. Crystal clear even... _________________________________________________

If you read my previous posts, I've never said he has to leave the company. My position is that I don't want him to hold any sort of power over EVE. If he goes to work on WoD or Dust I couldn't care less. I'm not playing these games and I don't have a business relationship with CCP involving them where he could work against my interests.

As I said before, I am clearly not in favor of the guy getting fired (not that anyone will ask).
But please, do tell, what makes it acceptable to fire someone?

Yes, I remember. So what? Everyone and their mother is doing it lately. And trust me when I say this is nothing compared to things yet to come.
Things change, roll with the punches. Or leave. You have options.
