CCP have recently been delving into the realms of micro transactions - allowing the purchase of in-game items or services for real life currencies
Exclusive items such as t3 ammunition, unique ships and skillpoints have been mentioned as possible ideas.
Many other games (such as WoW, LOTR, Star wars galaxies) have tried this idea of purcahsing in-game items with real money and most have caused catastrophic rifts within their communities.
some of the player base saying:
Quote: "I pay my subscription fees why should i now have to invest more money to keep up with the competition who are spending all their hard earned cash on guns etc etc"
While the the rest would say:
Quote: "Im now able to spend my cash on these new items because i don't have enough time to grind for items/ can't be bothered / like to support the gaming industry"
The problem with micro transactions is those who are able and willing to invest capital into the game have the option of doing so to gain the advantage they want while those not able/willing have no choice and have to live with the uphill struggle of keeping up with those spending their cash.
My stance on micro transactions in eve:
Quote: I pay my subscription fees everymonth via the in-game plex system which is great, plex itself doesn't influence combat or any other aspect except for maybe a few market prices here and there and allows those without the time to afford more expensive items which anyone who grinds for their isk can still get. The issue with items such as skillpoints and ships is those who have a lot of real life currency will always have that slight edge over anyone who doesn't buy these 'special' items. I have no issue with introducing aesthetic items such as clothes, ship skins etc because they don't impact on my gameplay, sure they look great but that pink megathron is just as good as my green one. The risk of adding gameplay enhancing items is huge, the impact on gameplay could be tiny or it could be catastrophic, and i feel there is no need to even try to meddle with it becasue its just no worth it in the end. I'd like to hope ccp change their plans and reconsider anything that could cause these clashes between the 'cash spenders' and the 'non-cash spenders'
Im interested in seeing what other peoples views are on the idea of micro transactions in eve so post away and let ccp know how you feel

Micro transactions will ruin the game balance!
Therefore: NO!!! on micro transactions!!!
Also, CCP already charges a very plausible subscription fee. Charging for anything else (especially, when threatening average gameplay!!) is just greedy money-whoring behaviour of big $$-grinders that don't give a **** about their playerbase, or even their game. They want to milk their cows, no more, no less!!! Also, consider that alot of players HAVE to have multiple accounts to play the game well (Supercap pilots with cyno alts, industry moguls, etc. pp. They already pay twice, tripple, quadrupple or more money than an 'average' player!)
For everyone who thinks Aurum was just implemented cause of vanity items... HA HA (Nelson voice). ---------

I would stop playing the game if I would have to pay for MT in order to keep up with the others who do. Subscription fee is enough.

Don`t know about MT ruining all games but sub model does not mix with MT model and especially not in extremely competitive game like EVE. Sure if your game is free to play with decent access and is fun, charge away. If you already demand a hefty sub fee for access I don`t feel like paying extra, especially with your stupid alt-demanding mechanics like cynos and manifacturing and so forth.

I agree absolutely, micro transactions ruin games. If we can't earn aurum to keep up with our competition that spends their real money to advance themselves in an exponential way, then many loyal players will fall away because you're ruining the game with god-mode ships bought with real money.
NO MICRO TRANSACTIONS CCP!!! NEW EDEN SAYS NO!!!

I have been here since beta, and I seriusly would stop playing if this was implentmentet. The plex system allready exists, so there is no use of micro transactions. players getting a more advantage over other players becos they have a huge benefitter in the background that ca afford to hand out t3 ammo to all it's support ships in a fleetfight is simply wrong. If people dont have time to grind for isk, they allready have the option to buy isk via the ingame plex system, that works like a charm.
If people wanna pay 80 EUR fra implant eyepeice thingie, cool - let them have it, but buying faction standing, t3 ammo, skillpoints, uniqe items, ship loadout slots, implants that boost x% for xdays.
All this is a no-go.
