A week ago I logged in to eve and wanted to do some pvp. So I logged in over at battle clinic bought several 30day plexes. I then logged on to the eve website and sold them for several hundred million isk. Flew out to jita with a character I had recently bought on the eve website with plexes sold that had the skills and faction standings my old main didnt and and opened the market.
I decided to go with a dramiel, its basically a super powered faction ship stronger than your normal non-faction ships but I paid a big premium for that. Since I had the cash I put a few choice special faction items on it, the items are often called deadspace items that are typically out of the price range of, poorer players but luckily I had bought the plexes to sell. Since I was using auto canons and had the extra isk I decided to buy arch angel faction ammo which while expensive is slightly better than the cheaper republic fleet ammo the vast majority of people pvp with.
Since I had brought a stronger than normal ships I was able to jump and kill multiple rifters as I roamed lowsec. However eventually I got a little too ambitious and got destroyed by a thrasher when i when after what ended up being a bait ship. Still pretty normal day in eve.
Tuesday I read the forums about the new patch and found out that with this new aurum stuff and what some internal memo said people could potentially buy special ships with special ammo that would be better than what was currently available even worse they could use the aurum to get standings without having to run missions. This is unacceptable I dont want some one getting aurum to have something better than what I could get, ccp is ruining this game.

If you have to buy ISK to play this game, you are doing it wrong.
Any opinion you may have to offer is null and void.

Close but no cigar. Nobody NEEDS to use PLEX to aquire Dramiel with nice fittings. Just takes a bit of grinding or nice scam...
With aurum items someone has to fork RL currency out to CCP for creation of said ship. Not to mention they might do it in a way that also circumvents the market and manifacturing side of EVE.

Hey I have an idea.
Why don't we all go play on Sisi instead?
There we can get spawned effortless items without spending our $$$ on it. Why waste your cash for what is free on Sisi when they are gonna break the manufacturing side anyway?

Not a fan of the name. Aura, Aurum, Au - confusing. ISK sounds ok, but doesn't actually make sense. Kredits isn't spelled with a K, and Interstellar isn't two words, it's one. Really, it should be IC.
Also, and I've mentioned this before - AUR is way too inflated at the introduction of the currency. 3,600 for one item?? Even if you wanted to keep the insanely high prices, 1 PLEX should give you 100 AUR, and the price could be 110.00 AUR.
This all smacks of laziness to me. Last minute drunken laziness. Where's that supposed PHD in economics?
I'm willing to give CCP the benefit of the doubt, but as of yet they haven't made any official statements. Every day this goes on without official response is another day it festers and gets worse.

The exchange rate between isk/PLEX allows anybody in Eve to purchase items in the Noble Store with Aurum without ever having to spend a dime of RL $$.
Perhaps at some point the amount of isk needed to purchase a PLEX will go through the roof and RL $$ will trump in game isk generation.

In a game where a monocle is 60+$, youre worried about a glut slightly better ships / or different colored ship destroying the market values current ships? If anything what will happen is this, Several fancy ships bought with destroyed plex, price of plex rises, in turn the price of everything rises as people try to earn more to pay for the subscription plex-> plex are now worth more and new people go and by plex to sell.
Unless ccp is going to sell extra powerful ships at prices near or below what their nearest market equivalent are worth in plex/isk this really wont have much of an effect on the actual market. I.E. Lets say we use for sake of ease dram price at 70m, plex prices at 350, and of course 3500 aurum per plex.
The dram is 1/5 the price of a plex and therefore actual worth about 700 aurum, if the fancy golddram for aurum is 350 and is better then yes we have a huge problem, however is fancy golddram is is 6000 AU or roughly half a monocle then its equivalent isk value is 600 million isk. For a ship thats marginally better I doubt you'll have many takers.

The difference is that with plex, you bought a ship that took time and effort to create. Someone ran missions or plexes to pick up the dramiel bpc, then someone had to make the ship itself (which taps into the mining aspect of the eve economy), and then someone put the item up for sale on the market. If you were to buy the dramiel from the NeX market using aurum, the ship is created out of thin air and you bypass the eve economy altogether.

At this rate we'll probably have to pay extra to get on sisi.
edit
Oh man, shouldn't have said that...

Aurum is latin for gold. It's the reason why gold is called Au on the periodic table.

Edited by: Shigeru Potatomoto on 24/06/2011 17:14:50 Technically, you can buy that monocle with only isk too.....
Of course the PLEX buyers only have themselves to blame if they're mad about this. It doesn't matter whether or not the playerbase sets the price, the bottom line is they set the standard, they took the shortcuts to their overpriced e-peen boats and they showed CCP that people would spend real life money for an edge in a video game!!!
So yeah, when those AUR dramiel killers come out and everyone is flying in them, remember that you were the prototype....MUWAHAHAHAH!

It is not evil as stated above you still use ISK if you remember correctly that is IN GAME money, if I buy plex with my ISK I am given a choice now to use it for in game time that GASP saves me RL $$, or I can by something off the noble market. I want to state the fact that IF they do go the path of giving you t3 BS and guns, ammo for the noble market I would back this hate as it stands now it is pointless and without merit.
