This dev blog does not address the important question at all.
Will you be selling items for Aurum that affect gameplay?
This is the crux of the issue. If Eve is going to gradually move towards a "pay cash, win game" model, people rightly want to know that's what you are planning. No-one wants to spend years of their life building up to great things in game through hard work, co-operation and sacrifice, if some idiot with a trust fund can come along and buy the same thing with dollars.
Eve was/is a game world where you guys at CCP wanted to move everything to player-created, making a virtual economy that depended on the carebears and the pvpers living in symbiosis. What has happened to that vision? Is it being washed away by blind ideology that games should be driven by virtual goods sales? Eve is different, don't ruin it by trying to make it conform to a model that doesn't suit it, please.

1. What Fearless is and the nature of its content 2. The pricing strategy behind the NeX store
I do realize there are other concerns you have and those will be addressed, but doing it all at the same time would make the messaging tricky and muddled and not allow for a focused discussion. I understand a lot of the frustration going around but if we want to discuss then we need to do so in a constructive and focused manner.
Thanks, Arnar
we have tried telling you things construcivly for months, you do not care. its very clear your only intrested in milking the cash cow.
screw the price of the MT shop. its of no importance and tbh it really only shows your greed, but currently gives no one an advantage so who actually gives a ****.
you quite clearly have lied about the direction you want MT to go and what your willing to sell for for cash.
incarna is a dog of a patch and for you to call it succesful only shows your lack of ingame experiance and knowledge.
1.incarna and CQ should be optional and not detract away from game fucntionality. both of these points need adressing quickly or you will loose players.
2. no in game advantage, items, services or products to be sold no matter what you charge for them
address these 2 points and all will be well. dont address them and your cash cow will wander off down the street and die to a passing MMO and you will be out of a job. was that construcive enough?

Keep up the good work CCP. A lot of people will look back in 6months and realise how silly they were.
Yup, for even having kept subscribed after Dominion, Tyrannis and Incursion. I was willing to put some trust in this company, even letting them have 18 months. I feel stupid and used in retrospect.
Overreaction show we care. We made CCP. Now we're breaking it.

You do understand that deflection will feed the discontent... it will feed the dissatisfaction. If you wish for a focused and reasonable discussion you should start by using those criteria on your communications.

Only way I could afford an expensive PC was to have a pricing plan from 18 months no interest, is CCP going to offer something like that for the vanity items? And possibly whatever stuff they add for Micro Transactions? /sarcasm

Linkage
Well, was I right, or was I right? Nothing was addressed. It was a weak post to make it seem like the issues are being considered, yet, none of the issues are really being addressed at all. However, one thing that does suprise me is the "F-U" undertone in the blog. Seems that CCP's idea of diplomacy it to outright tell their entire community to stuff it where the sun don't shine. Way to go. You got your freeloaders... erm... sorry... CUSTOMERS mad as hell with poor design decisions and outright contempt for them, and then you basically put out a condescending blog telling off the people that put that pay your salary. Good job.
I don't like the future path that seems to be planned out for Eve. The fact CCP are unwilling to confirm or deny the notion that this RMT scheme is going to expand to game-changing items means they're hiding something. And I can guarantee that if any such scheme where real money = exclusive, game changing items, SP, or anything else that would giving people with deep pockets an unfair advantage over someone who's been playing the game by the rules for years, I'll be out of here permanently. Spare me the "You can buy PLEX" with ISK story. With the nber-nerf of 80+% of null sec space, very few people other than top-level alliance leaders and botters will be able to generate the kind of ISK required to be able to buy these high end items - at least with the current pricing scheme you have in place.
So good job. 3 of my 5 accounts will be going inactive when they expire in the coming weeks. It's pointless to "cancel" them, as they'll still be "live" until the sub runs out. Your unoptimized spaghetti code won't allow me to run more than 2 clients at a time - even on a relatively high-end machine - so I have no use for the other 3 accounts anymore. My 2 main accounts have a few months left on them. I'll see when the time comes whether it's worthwhile renewing them at all. And with the apparent direction of Eve, I'll probably be looking elsewhere for my pew pew fun. And rest assured, that won't be with Dust. I refuse to touch anything that has Sony associated with it. Please don't make it so I have to do the same with anything CCP does.

What?
That's it?
This pretty much confirms it in my mind. The number 1 question being asked remains completely unanswered.
Will you be allowing Microtransactions for in game items such as ships, weapons, etc???
Clearly, Zulu's lack of a straight answer on this means CCP is leaving the door wide open for that option. These game-breaking MT's are coming and I will be leaving. I have already cancelled my subs. One dies in 4 days. The other in two weeks. The third in a month. Those cancellations remain in effect until they guarantee no MT's for real in game items!!!
Since this is likely not to happen, it is time for me to find a new game and a new game company that actually values its customer base instead of talking about us as cattle to be manipulated for their money in their company rag!! Too bad. CCP had the promise of being a gamer's company in an industry full of corporate bean counters.
Sad day indeed for the gaming community.
Dex was here.

This non response defensive pat on the back, self congratulatory, comtempt for your consumer, arrogance laden half attempt, is exactly why software engineers should NEVER EVER engage with the public they abhor.
I speak from 20+ years of real world experience and have to thank you for showing us that 200+ pages of rage didnt even make a dent in the detatched shell of a room uou live in.
Thank you again also for making certain my money does not fund another free lunch or cup of coffee spent on a CCP product.
I will however, take the equivalent amount of time i spent in eve letting anyome who will listen in the media, twitter, facebook and street corner that CCP is exactly like sony with swg only worse.
Ps sony just announced star wars galaxies closes forever in december. Im guessing ccps fate will repeat theirs as you were both equally out of touch and are incapable of understanding.
When management asks you what happened and you are polishing up resumes just remember this moment as the one turning point where you poured gasoline on a raging fire.

So let me get this right, by your logic everyone who plays eve must be rich and wears 1k+ pants?
TBH I think you're just going after all the cash cows that throw up 12-48 Plex at a time. You want to incurage this behaviour even tho you pull in over what? 40m a year to run this game on outdated software and source code? Like wow you finally upgraded the servers. It costs what? 3-6 million a year to run eve? Maybe if you spent less money on advertising this game all across the web you would make more of a profit??
Hell maybe you should put the money into hiring another 100 employees who can help fix all the balance issues with the game and all the stuff you trashed since 2006?
Last time I checked as well the economy in most areas is not that great yet you feel fully confident in yourselves to relase stuff in game for 64$$
Stop screwin up my game. I refuse to accept the fact that people may be able to by skills in game when I've spent months training for them. I refuse to accept the fact that some stupid eye piece costs more then my fitted Bhaalgorn. I refuse to accept the fact that you are destroying this game and trying to dumb us down to the mentality of other mmo players. But tbh I can refuse all of this as much as I want but It don't change the fact that this is what you're doing.
Older players and long term players control the economy of the game, what will you do when you flush them all out and the games filled with kids full of mt dew?

Dear Arnan, I congratulate you with your probably very successfull effort to become world famous in 'marketing bloopers in the 21th century'.
You have raging customers yet you find it necessary to congratulate yourself in the first paragraph for a job well done. euh...right. that will smooth things over.
You have an internal 'think out of the box' leaflet. Ok. Always good to have ideas tested. And indeed that's not company policy. ofc the little trouble is that you kinda forget to mention clearly what the conclusion of all that brainstorming was. What is the company policy?
As for pricing...don't think that is actually a problem. The right price is what an idiot will pay for it. Or something like that. Most people will therefor never shop at your place. Making a brand is hard job. And people will buy brand-stuff. But not if it makes them look like idiots. Perhaps you would have more success if you would sell starship paint. You know ...since this is actually a starship game.... give people some Red Baron - Red on their ships. Something one actually can show off or look at in a hangar instead of clothing that is irrelevant in a space ship game.
Now for myself I have some small extra issues. And I totally understand that you find this minor items, since they actually are about the playability of the game and not about uselesss things. I would kinda like to know if I get my original hanger back. The doctor says that staring at a wall will lead to a serious depression. Apparantly one gets an urge to smash it with ones head. Oh and my eye doctor says that trying to distinguish between an salvager and a tractorbeam can seriously endanger my eye sight. So any chance we can get some old/better icons? both on the action bars as on the targets.
PS. How much does that pay, Senior Producer? Just in case 'they' decide to send you on a promotion tour for that book I mentioned and there will be a job-opening. I don't have much skills for it, but it's clear CCP has a policy of 'learning on the job'. So I probably have a shot.

@CCP Zulu
The tone of your posting to the Eve player community was openly insulting. That may have not been your intent. I'm sure it sounded much more sincere in Icelandic. However, in English it read as *****y and dismissive - to your customer base.
Really now, what were you thinking? Who runs your PR department, Hosni Mubarak? Did someone say, "We must crush these digital peasants or they'll walk all over us."? They're not an annoying mob you have to put down. They're your customers.
CCP has an evident internal business culture problem when it comes to dealing with the member base. You may not like or respect them, but they're the audience you chose. If you plan on being in the gaming industry much longer you need to turn that around.

Yuor blog explains the reasoning behind microtransactions which are a money generating feature. This I have no issue with its a business development line whihc you have now tested, felt the wrath of the community who will in turn settle down once some more reasonably priced items hit it; your also correct with these being vanity items therefore who cares unless you have too much isk or cash. In which case the cash/isk sink works.
I do not feel that CCP have address the whole CQ issue. How does this improve internet spaceships wars? and how does it improve the sandbox which EVE was always supposed to be? These questiosn should be asked about each development for EVE. The dev resources for this are not cheap and it seems to be that in terms of commiting resource to keeping people happy pushing boundries CQ has not delivered.
The underlying carbon technology has been a great development now please use it to make EVE great again...more internet spaceships please.

Are we going to hear about the other complaints?
About Zulu's comments
'Fearless' - If you publish it, you are responsible for it. The dragging of people through the mud is a direct response to something that they were responsible for saying. They said it, you published it. As a company you are responsible for it as well. CCP is just as much to blame for them being put in the line of fire as the players who are attacking them are. You, CCP, owe those employees an apology for the bus your just threw them under.
'Price point' - For vanity items I could not care less what you charge for them. The fact that you started with such a high price point on a few items has done nothing to keep people from saying you are greedy. Get up from your chair, walk around the building you are in, then walk back in and think about what I just said. Your initial start to what was potentially a lucrative market was horrible and deserves the mass ridicule that followed.
This blog post is really a non-answer in my opinion. Its only purpose was an attempt to get players off the back of the CCP staff that are being targeted by the player base as 'part of the problem'. The reasons the players are angry for the most part was not even hinted at in this blog:
-No 'golden ammo' or items that cannot be received in game via game play. (no 99% resist 8/8/8 battelships for 10,000 aur only available in NeX) -Vanity items only preferred -Make CQ an optional thing, bring back the hangar and give us a button to load it if we want to go in. -Stop removing functionality. Drag and drop, right click on ship to do things, etc. Don't make this is BFF for some other month thing either, get it done now. -Dual graphic detail levels. 'in space' needs separate settings from 'not in space' -Make considerations for players with alt accounts. This latest version is a resource hog, and because of it I have cancelled both of my alt accounts. If the footprint of the game is going to be this large then I see no reason to bother signing them back up. Last month $45, next month $15. I know I an not alone on this and it is up to you to decide if the NeX can offset that cost. Oh, and if you think you can, please let us all know that. -I would appreciate it if you would stop using us as beta testers for every update, the reimbursement policy is such that when you do these updates I don't dare use any expensive ships (no I will not buy a GTC to replace it either).
Incarna right now is just a framework and it crippled computers and angered a lot of players, how can you expect it to hold any weight? As I stated above, I am speaking in the forum and with my wallet. Your turn.
