I posted a sincere view of my opinions somewhere around page 80 of the old thread... I won't type it again, here is the link if you want to read it.
Now with you releasing a dev blog about the issues of the last 48h, I found it very remarkable that you ignored the main burning question around which all the rage evolves: Will aurum be used for non vanity items?
If you have read the feedback in the thread from CCP Pann you can see this question has been asked over 3000 times. So please, stop commenting on the minor issues we can live with & be straight with us.
Anyways, all I can do at this point is fly one of my characters to Jita & join the protest there. I'm just so tired of being spoonfed the same no content apologies.. bah.

My Impressions Is this really how you treat your customers ccp .....
The newsletter it was discussing the issue of MT fair enough why were you discussing it ?? You told the player base that you were not going to introduce play to win fullstop you are caught out in a lie that dev blog basically says that you don't care what your player base thinks your going to go ruin eve anyway. Well if that is the way you want it fine i simply wont pay you my 1 month account has been canceled . i have 18 days left and that is as long as im giving this game .
Charging people like zed 99 bucks to get new people like me into this game is plain wrong no matter which way you cut it .
Personally i dont care about vanity items I dont care about dust or wod i want to play eve that is what i was intending to play but basically im not investing any more time into this game if you are going to make me pay to be competitive and to be honest that what this dev blog said you havent denied it so it must be true .
48 hours to be told "stfu people it is our game" I dont think any other game treated there customer base like this and was around a year later i hope dust can survive without eve and i hope wod is nearly finished because otherwise you are all out of a job.
Cya eve it been a fun 1 month but I think ill go spend my time and money on something else.

looks like zulu forgot his keynote speech video 1
the points of the key notes
1 - csm perspective and feedback helped alot - now it counts for jack **** and that's a shame we have and have had some very hard working player on the csm panel but ccp care not for it anymore they have there deal with sony.
2 - problem with messaging and miscommunication - the cycle continues this is down to ccp not wanting to reply to our question and sticking its head in the sand.
3 - lank of communication - this is the biggest problem ccp has and I think its down to the fact that as a company ccp doesn't care about it player base, you know the guy that fund everything from dust to wod to eve its self
4 - we've improved - going to use zulu own words here from A.T. IX we are calling this bull**** if anything you have taken a step back no make that a leap
5 - but we can always do better I would love if you did, just once answer the question we have non vanity item yes or no for aurum?

Originally by: Mukutep I don't understand why some people are cancelling their subscriptions on something that might happen. As of right now there are no MT's beyond vanity when I look. CCP hasn't said there's going to be. Agreed, they haven't denied it, but lack of denial doesn't mean certainty. Seems to me like people (as usual) have overreacted.
If MT's that are more than just vanity actually show up in game, I'll be first in line to leave. But leaving over an un-verified assumption of a possibility seems silly.
From the Fearless:
"Not all virtual purchases WILL focus on customization: some WILL simply be new items, ammunition, ships, etc. that can be purchased outright."
This is why. Zulu has come out and said "Oh it's just opinions!", but does that read as an opinion? It's a statement of what is GOING TO HAPPEN. The words "Might", "Maybe", and "Possibly" were not used. Let's say that you dislike someone, and you say "I hope a goat ****s you in your sleep."
That's quite a bit different from "I WILL MAKE SURE A GOAT ****S YOU IN YOUR SLEEP" which implies you're training at least one goat to perform that task.
All we got from Zulu was a bunch of fluff that didn't answer anything and only addressed a concern held by a tiny minority: The price of NeX items, while it didn't address the overall question of MT for game-changers. This tells me that they're simply not going to say anything, to pretend that we didn't ask the question, so they can introduce it later after all the angry people have either left or accepted the NeX system.

Sorry, doesn't do a thing for me.
When players who have been around literally for years, many from the beta-testing stage, up and leave, you have a serious problem. And it's not within the playerbase.
Originally by: CCP Zulu In almost the same instant as we deployed Incarna - which by the way is one of our more smooth and successful expansions...
Since when? What dope is Zulu smoking? It should be banned as it causes quite the hallucination. CarbonUI broke the game for many, this breaks it for many more. I used to easily run three clients on my laptop which was designed for hardcore gaming. ONE client under CQ literally causes it to heat up enough that I can't touch the keyboard. Framerate drops by a factor of ten, from 250 FPS to 25 FPS while simply standing still in CQ. No other game or benchmark program even comes close to the amount of CPU and GPU load EVE Online now exerts on my setup. This is primarily my work computer so I will not take chances on losing it to bad coding.
Internal memos: Yep, not to be leaked as there's always something that someone won't like about it. In this case it's 50,000 someones, your current playerbase. I guess it's easier to kick everyone out of the sandbox and start anew after changing the rules midstream. 50,000 active players means a lot of cornflakes to pee in BTW.
Monocles/clothing prices: Not an issue. Never was. Won't be buying any. Only those with deep pockets IRL will go for the bling. The problem with this is that it does open a can of worms and we can see the future of pay to win killing the current playerbase who have invested YEARS into the game to have it swept away in one simple expansion.
The Senior Producer chiding us for having opinions and calling out 'CCP the greedy' when the rules change overnight: Originally by: CCP Zulu Seriously, these people were doing their jobs and do not deserve the hate and s.h.i.t.storm being pointed at them.
True fail and the nail in CCP's coffin. First off for the use of profanity on a public forum. If he can't see that most of the screaming is toward 'CCP the greedy' as a company then maybe he needs to take a walk outside while you quickly change the locks on the door. He should take all like-minded employees with him. It's the EVE Community as a whole that made EVE what it was two weeks ago. It's greed that has brought it down so low that it may never recover.
Licensing fees for third-party apps? WHY? Counterproductive. Unless you EXPECT them to turn into paid apps.
I too worked in a company where some individual members cared what happened. The supervisors really didn't give a rat's ass. They still don't. I quit a year and a half ago and have been running my own company ever since. My old one? It's always in the news for some new "problem" that's developed or that's been uncovered. 99.9% of their problems were and still are from poor, greed-tainted supervision. Me? I make enough to get by. I'm happy and so is my customer base. EVE was a nice distraction but now it's a chore, threatens my laptop with destruction and is no longer headed down the path which was forged for it back in the early days. It's hit a tangent and to have the Senior Producer address us like street scum is unacceptable. I'll miss the friends and enemies I made in the game but that's life.
Let me translate this for you: -1 pending subscription, -2 PLEX accounts, -1 yearly subscription. I wish everyone well in whatever job they may find after this debacle. And if there is no job to be found, maybe they shouldn't have been at CCP in the first place. JMHO.
BTW, the blog really addresses nothing. Waste of disk space and bandwidth. Again JMHO. I don't think even a Polaris Damage Control Unit is going to help this time.

All right then. I think you brought out the blogs out in the wrong order. The blog stating that capsuleres will never be able to buy an in game advantage regarding flying spaceships through the Nex probably should have been out first. I hope to see that blog real soon....
The pricing policy on the vanity items is a stroke of genious in my opinion. If a monocle did cost about a quarter of Plex or so we would see them everywhere. Pretty lame i think.
We all turn our heads when we see a multi billion faction battleship taking a tour of the local stellar neighbourhood. Some would probably check out who the pilot was and what corp and alliance the pilot is flying for.
The same thing could happen when a filthy rich pilot enters a seedy bar in Jita 4.4. A character customised with a bunch of vanity items would get noticed. Everybody would know that the guy is a rich bastardà.now he approaches me and asks if he could hire you to perform some ôspecial undercover servicesöà. for a fee of course. I look greedily at his monocle and I think that I better listen to his proposal, thinking that he looked me up because my rare Jove wristband attracted his attention.
The social gameplay possibilities are great and I think the idea is brilliant. Well done CCP

It's truly disappointing to see that the message just hasn't gotten through to CCP that we really don' give a rat's *ss about NEX prices. Yeah they are stupidly expensive but let the idiots who want to pay them do so. Comparing them to a RL pairifjeansisjust ludicrous.
The issue is MT changing pvp to pwt (pay to win). The spectre of the ability to buy yourself better standings or even advance your SP is just not acceptable to most of that have earned that. Earning things and making stuff is what MyEVE is all about. Take that away and you are messing w/ my favourite hobby.
I, and apparently many others, don't want that EVE. Just the fact that you are discussing it internally makes us livid as you would make iteasy for somebody to come into out game and by simple virtue of their wallet, be able to take their new dreadnaught and take over a system.
We are really disappointed that things are going to end this way and are willing to gonthedistance with it.

This is ridiculous. The monocle was sticker shock, let it stay no one cares THAT much. This is about game enhancing for MT and the total disillusionment we are feeling because of this. I would have hoped you (CCP) would have at least TRIED to do something in the way of reassuring your fanbase but you haven't.
And yes, I think the people who are making RL threats are ******ed as well. No I don't want anyone of you to be hurt in any way. Most of us don't.

Ughhhh, the Zulu never went on to mention if the items will only be vanity or affecting items. Not only that, the way he compared Japanese designer pant's next to no name brand. What the **** is that? Really???
During the time when CCP first brought out the thought of micro transaction items. A few of my mates talk about quitting the game once the subscription runs out. At first, I thought they were nuts. But, at this given moment and CCP attitude towards the community. Not to mention the licensing fee's to API development. I'm starting feel like it's a really good idea after all. I have really enjoyed Eve for 8 years save for one detail, namely the unbelievable rudeness of arrogance of some of the CCP staff, particularly that of some of the individuals whose role it is to serve the customer base in a pleasant, courteous way.
This doesn't apply to everyone at CCP of course, and I have had good experiences as well from time to time, but I would suggest that management have a think about who they put in front of their paying clients.

Apart from the fact that Zulu's blog didn't adress anything, many people seem to like to overexagerate and troll here. When I look around the ingame chat channels it seems "the player base" couldn't care less. While I agree, MT for non-vanity stuff wouldn't be too cool, let's not pretend there isn't any "advantage for rl money" stuff happening already: If you were rich and crazy enough (and found somebody to sell the modules), you could sell enough PLEX to get an officer fitted faction ship at the price of a Titan (speaking of which, you could get a Titan as well, if anybody was selling one). Of course, you shouldn't be able to buy the SPs for said Titan as well. But hey...what difference would it make? Let's face it: One can sell a ****load of PLEXs and buy a Titan char (again if somebody sold one). So I don't see much difference to the MT for SP issue...If someone thinks he (or she) needs to waste a lot of rl money to cheat, let them...There is one thing they cannot buy and that is experience that comes over time. And a cheater won't enjoy the game for long anyways since there is nothing left to gain if you get everything instantly. And last but not least, let's not ne hypocrites: How many of you older (and rich players - ingame that is) could play EVE for free because of all the people selling PLEXs for ingame advantages? Oh and I almost forgot...you still can ban possible future SP cheaters from the community. Upon application to your corp demand their API and cross check with their age. If things don't correlate, ignore him or her. |

I have seen a few posts along the lines of "people cancelling subs are just alt postings and bluffs," and I just want to say that for me this is no joke. I am not a big name player but I have (small, infrequent) posting history over the past 1.5 years or so, and I have poured a lot of my heart into this game, sometimes making use of 6 accounts, though now I am down to 4.
I have watched the forums and CCP news closely for about 2.5 years now and I never thought it would come to this. I have a hard time believing that the people who doubt a dedicated player would quit over this have actually kept up with EVE over the past few years, and have actually read the source documents in question with this whole fiasco.
A week ago, I was mildly looking forward to Incarna and things to come, but the newsletter and CCPs response so far confirms the absolute worst fears the playerbase has has about CCP for a while now. We have all suspected that CCP might be going rotten, but most of us have been willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, and wait and see. Well, we have waited, and now we have seen.
-4 accounts. Can't say I'm very sorry about it, though, after seeing how low CCP has really gone - and all without us knowing it, until now.

I think it's more likely that CCP has hired one or more game designers that worked for SoE, or they're BOTH hiring marketing managers from Mickey$loth.
Nothing specific. Just pretty much everything Sony does. Once upon a time, they made great products. Then they hit the top and expanded, getting greedier in the process. That's when the culture of "**** our customers, we know better" seems to have set it. As a result, everything they touch seems to turn to **** in some way, be it their hardware, software, or services. Anyone who's had to deal with their customer support knows that they give very little support, usually blaming issues on the customer to pass the buck of responsibility. Their communication with customers is poor at best, and usually unsubstantial when they do communicate. Sound familiar?
If I had to guess, I'd be willing to bet that Sony has made a substantial investment into CCP now that Dust is PS3 exclusive, perhaps even becoming shareholders, and are somehow pushing this issue to further monetize Eve and anything else CCP produces.
I really wonder if there's anyway to find this out. If I find myself permabanned, then I'll know that I've hit a sore spot by bringing up this connection. lol

Edited by: BR Link on 24/06/2011 23:15:41 What a ridiculous statement.
Comparing in-game clothing to real-life clothing is pathetic on the face of it, yet alone supporting the idea that people give a **** about the "status" buying more expensive clothes affords. People shouldn't be held responsible for "doing their jobs"? Were they forced to write what they did, or were they (as stated elsewhere) their opinions? If so, anyone who puts an opinion out there should be prepared to have it criticised - particularly when prefixed with such a provocative question.
Edit: Btw, devs should beware. The next direction most companies move in after "**** our customers, we know better" is "**** the experienced staff, fresh management knows better".

Originally by: CCP Zulu Pricing structure People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50? What do other people think about you when they see you wearing them? For some you will look like the sad culmination of vainness while others will admire you and think you are the coolest thing since sliced bread. Whichever it is, it is clear that by wearing clothes you are expressing yourself and that the price is one of the many dimensions that clothes possess to do that in addition to style and fit. You don't need to buy expensive clothes. In fact you don't need to buy any clothes. Whatever you choose to do reflects what you are and what you want others to think you are.
I can understand that and expected that answer, however my concern with that is "what" stick you are measuring your pricing structure with. Should we expect that when ships are added (and at the rate it's clear that they will one day even if it's just a shuttle) that they will cost thousands of dollars, because that's what we pay for cars and boats (i.e. if a ships only costs $100 then how does that justify a shirt costing $20, what is you scale of balancing prices)? |
