I'd be interested to know from the speakers what they think players should be doing about all this right now. If the in-game protests and the forum threadnaughts are overreacting then what is a better way for them to express their displeasure and also to obtain answers (if that's even possible) from CCP. So far, the only real way to make an impact seems to be by unsubscribing which is pretty radical. Is this the only option available to disgruntled plyers?

i understand ccp might choose to go the rout of a cash shop with game changing items and its their right. And they might even come out on top in the end with that decision economically.
But how can they not see that it is totally counter to the idea of eve online as a player driven sandbox? i can not understand. How this idea could even take hold in the mind of a dev.
can they really not see the unfairness this adds, no matter how small is not the EVE we know?

In the devblog it seems like there saying the prices are the way they are because they want them to be rare items. Well they have certainly made them rare with these prices but do you think the prices are too high for something that should be rare due to price?

Edited by: Mos7Wan7ed on 25/06/2011 02:05:56 The pdf should be ignored as 2 office workers asked to debate each site of the the Micro Transaction sides.
The main issue as i see is that the transparency on CCP's part has vanished in respect to anything ambulation related since it was introduced.
the recent patch has introduced some things and not mentioned the removal of others... People are set back by that.
Players like the feel they are apart of the process. This time fundamental things have changed and done so without asking or at least informing the communality about the changes. That has cost CCP a lot of trust and makes players feel if they are being ignored. Edited by: BeanBagKing on 25/06/2011 02:01:18 Question for Eve Radio if your opening things up:
Let us assume that CCP will answer the question on everyones mind and state that they will NOT allow game changing items for MT.
What defines a game changing item/service? Something that isn't produced by the players certainly changes the game, but we've accepted clothing. What about a ship that's already in game, but now you can buy it straight from the store? Well I can get one of those in game anyway, just like other players. What about faction standings? That's nothing new either, a player in the game can get them, so does that break the game? What about storing more fittings? Certainly that wouldn't make me better than another player, but I think most players that used to be able to store more would be VERY upset about it. What about faction towers? Those are still in the game right now? What about a new ship....
My question boils down to, where is the line now that we have started this. I know where it is for me, I'd like to hear your thoughts though.
Edit, as a followup question, do you have any responses to this? http://hosted.corelicorp.net/micro.jpg

Edited by: Black Dranzer on 25/06/2011 01:58:13 I think that the obsession with "trying to get the right message out" is one of the things that's really hurting CCP now. I can't help but feel a lot of this outrage could be avoided if they just came straight up and told us what the hell they're doing.
I mean, even if they ARE going full frontal with Microtransactions, I don't see how blunt honest communication at this point could make things any worse than they already are.
Just Saiyan.

Great interview Bacon. This is like listening to professional AM talk radio.
Question for the panel: Where is the line where players (customers) have a say in a private company's direction? ANd equate this to the current situation with CCP and the ****storm

They are failing badly to address player concerns and whilst it is a strategy they have used before to douse the flames, I really dont see this one dying down. Its a competitive market and tehy have a niche if they throw that away some other developer will seduce us to a new sandbox.
CCP ends up sold and EVE dies a slow death until in a year or two it is closed doe to apathy. Ironic SWG closing was announced recently.
The rage shown here is still nowhere near the levels of the NGE-induced rage.
Not to say that this is light or anything, but I honestly doubt that anything could compare to what happened then.

great show. I DO believe CCP may mello but the game is going from 'emergent' to 'pushed'. Understandably some tweaks need doing to keep things moving.....but Incarn isn't it. It's a SPACESHIP GAME.
The real issues is if I have to spend REAL dollars to keep pace with others via needing to stuff for play. Clothes....no issue. Stupid prices sure.......but no issue. Don't do items that are necessary or cut time from DOING something.
CCP needs to move toward a player driven game.......or back to it. This game is fantastic.....Don't want to see it ruined. Would pay more per subscritpiton. (I have 5)
Thanks for the time

What do the CSM reps have to say about the part where Incarna launched on Tues and CCP is not responding to those issues by Fri? I am confused about the inability to come up with a response in this time frame.

Sorry but I have to disagree.
CCP is already inured to the constant *****ing that occurs on the threads...if we're calm and rational they'll take that as acceptance.
I'm normally a proponent for being calm and objective and destroying an opponent with cold logic but we have quite a thick skin to get through here with CCP and if they're going to listen they need to HEAR us and they won't unless we SCREAM!
That said...the personal attacks are still out of line.

We want an answers for the following:- Do you plan to add MT for SPs MT for ships MT for any other ingame altering items (implants and so on).
If yes to any of the above and you are breaking the game mechanics of a sandbox by bypassing the fundemental elements. --------------------

cool, here's a question. How can this distance between players and CCP perceptive come to be? I've been an eve player for a few years and I have a personal idea/concept of what ccp corporate culture is like (amateurs). But this recent focus on mt seems to suggest external influences. Are there, to the best of the panel's knowledge, external influences atm at work in CCP's policy?

The problem is no longer if game altering MT's will exist because clearly by CCP's actions that's the direction they would like to move. As long as the items are balanced in the market and available through second hand purchase the effect won't be game ending.
The issue now is where will the line be drawn on these transactions. The documents speaks of things like faction standings for MT. If CCP would just come out and say that skill points, standings, and the like will never be touched through MT then I would re-sub my accounts right now.

Edited by: Nocte Eisner on 25/06/2011 02:00:31 Edited by: Nocte Eisner on 25/06/2011 01:59:08 At this point it's going to take a solid response from someone who is accountable for their words and the only person that everyone is really interested in hearing from is Hilmar. They're tired of the fluff, condescension, and half-baked attempts at placation. As was mentioned previously in the show, asking someone to simply reiterate or reconfirm a prior promise isn't a huge request. The fact that CCP has found themselves unable to say a mere three letter word (yes) in response to a question over a verifiable promise from the past is discouraging at best and tragic at worst.
The truly sad part of this is that the uniting and galvanizing of the Eve community didn't come in the form of Fanfest, an Alliance Tournament, or an amazing innovation in the game...it came at it's potential farewell bonfire.

Edited by: Regime Caretaker on 25/06/2011 02:01:30 I wonder and ask, how much of this outrage has to do with the mood and tone set due to increased accusations of RMT, hacking of forums, source code leaks etc? In a way creating a perfect storm where the mindset and mood of players was already in a very negative place.
And in addition. The difference between PLEX and aur is that a sold PLEX is potential bought by a player as a means to keep an account up and continue playing so it serves a tangible and very valuable purpose.

Can I just say that I sympathize with CCP in the sense that the rage against their game is likely very hurtful to those who have worked hard to produce this game? As one who has tried to look positively at this situation and who for the most part has been pleased with incarna I have been most concerned with the vitriolic rhetoric and can't help but think that many at CCP are just as fed up as I am.
I think a lot of valid concerns have been brought up but its important for us to realize that CCP is under no obligation to answer and any answer we receive is a bonus.
Could you guys please address the playerbase and ask them to tone things down for all of our sakes? Personally, I am proud to be an EVE subscriber but feel as if the players enjoy stomping on it and suppressing others from joining. A civil forum is the best way to get CCP to respond not devouring them.

I don't think people are basing their stuff on things they "hear" ? The newsletter is there, Soundwave is on the good ol black and white, relaying the most recent real money -> game items group session with whatever else greedy game corp is doing it/planning on doing it.
I mean, that is how it's coming off anyway. I don't care if it's a internal discussion doc for throwing ideas around. Hes being very very enthusiastic about it.
For my part though, I don't think it's too late ever, as long as he just face it and reply to the questions posed. The newsletter is for real, how real is the enthusiasm, how approachable is he to changing based on player view.
