CCP knows it to be true, you'll hang out to see if it really gets bad, because you've got too much to lose. If they lose enough subs, then they'll roll it back because you'll return.
You're pawns, make no mistake.
A month from now, you'll forget you were mad about any of it. CCP teaches us early, blue pill anyone?
Thanks for staying around, thanks for paying CCP, you're a great cow.

I canceled, and I feel GREAT. Except for why I had to cancel. But it's nice to have revenge, no matter how small.
Try it. It's hard at first, but then you realize you have more time, more energy, and that World of Tanks is a lot more fun. At least there they are honest about gold ammo.
DOWN WITH CCP!

I am quitting on 3 of my 5 accounts. The interesting thing about eve is that there are SO many people that have multiple accounts, even simply "cutting back" is enough to make a big difference.

Edited by: Apollo Gabriel on 25/06/2011 03:52:21 It wont matter, if 20% of us quit, that's 72,000 accounts ... the remaining 80% will spend more than they lost.
We did it, we built them a self sustaining community and they don't need us any more, we're obsolete. They will get their money, as those who stay will pay more.
Eve will then grow, who cares if people stay, they will pay.
Hilmar was clear, if they pay, they approve, period.
I quit over 48 hours ago and I've been questioning if it was right ever since...
I am now without doubt.

Please, for the sake of all of us who want CCP to see reason, quit on all of them, at least for a short while. I know it's a lot to ask, but unless they learn humility and the importance of honesty, well, this game is done for.

I don't think you know what a 'pawn' is.
Also, very many players have canceled, and the pay to win aspects haven't even happened yet. So, you are wrong. I myself canceled one account and am paying entirely via isk bought plexes on the remaining, whereas previously I paid subs in cash just in principle. CCP gets zero cash from me.
The irony is I was actually looking forward to buying vanity items from the MT store, foolishly assuming that CCP would keep its word, and even more foolishly assuming they had the business sense to price microtransactions in the micro range.

CCP picked the wrong bunch of people to try to play a social experiment on and we will turn this company on it's head and make certain it's coffers bleed dry.
im not even angry anymore, im looking forward to the challenges to come.

No, I think I do. There are massive plex stockpiles. It is for this reason CCP designed Aurum to be a plex sink. Every plex that gets actually cashed at this point ads nothing to CCP's bottom line. CCP only makes money by those who purchase new plexes with $ via them, and with the way that is going, there's not a lot of that being likely.
A plex purchase that is not used for gametime is effectively a loan made to CCP that has never been returned. There are many such plexes out there. I am using some of these plexes on my account, rather than holding them for speculation or trading them out as commodities.

No bluff at all, accounts will run for 1month and 2months respectively, and won't be resubbed unless Hilmar himself tells us no game-changing MT.

Anyone that does not like the way the game is going and just sticks around because of the time invested in their character needs their head testing. What's throwing more money and time into the character going to achieve?

We live in interesting times; in fact CCP is the kind of company that if things get repetitive we instinctively crank it up a notch. That, we certainly have done this week. First of we have Incarna, an amazing technological and artistic achievement. A vision from years ago realized to a point that no one could have imaged but a few months ago. It rolls out without a hitch, is in some cases faster than what we had before, this is the pinnacle of professional achievement. For all the noise in the channel we should all stand proud, years from now this is what people will remember.
But we have done more, not only have we redefined the production quality one can apply to virtual worlds with the beautiful Incarna but we have also defined what it really means to make virtual reality more meaningful than real life when it comes to launching our new virtual goods currency, Aurum.
Naturally, we have caught the attention of the world. Only a few weeks ago we revealed more information about DUST 514 and now we have done it again by committing to our core purpose as a company by redefining assumptions. After 40 hours we have already sold 52 monocles, generating more revenue than any of the other items in the store.
This we have done after months of research by a group of highly competent professionals, soliciting input and perspective from thought leaders and experts in and around our industry. We have communicated our intention here internally in very wide circles through the Virtual Economy Summit presentation at the GSM, our Fearless newsletter, sprint reviews, email lists and multiple other channels. This should not come as a surprise to anyone.
Currently we are seeing _very predictable feedback_ on what we are doing. Having the perspective of having done this for a decade, I can tell you that this is one of the moments where we look at what our players do and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change.
We went out with a decisive strategy on pricing and we will stay the course and not flip flop around or knee jerk react to the predictable. That is not saying nothing will change, on the contrary, in fact we know that success in this space is through learning and adapting to _what is actually happening_ and new knowledge gained in addition to what we knew before and expected.
All that said, I couldnGÇÖt be prouder of what we have accomplished as a company, changing the world is hard and we are doing it as so many times before! Stay the course, we have done this many times before.

Actually,
I unsubbed this account because of CCP's "attention" to the game and their generally ****ed up attitude about their player base. While I may keep my second account (see how they respond), this account will definitely not be reactivated. In short they just lost 50% of their fees coming from me...permanently.
What it comes down to is that their behavior made me realize that I really didn't want to invest in a second account for the "value" I was getting. I'm sure there are others in the same situation that are reducing 2, 3, or more accounts down to one. Good luck with your cash flow CCP.

No actually I won't.
I'll quit if they introduce non vanity items, helll I might just quit regardless.
Quick poll, anybody watching the plex market in Forge region? It averages 2000-3000 a day, it tanked the last 5 days, not the best of a predictor... but something is going on, and it's not a good thing.

Thats so very true.
Because it is after all.. a Game. Have fun playing, then play the Game. If not, its simple.. leave.
Enjoying the game, having fun playing it.. but leaving for another reason tho.. why make it more than what it is? You own nothing, other than the memories and enjoyment of the Game. That really is all that should matter. There is more in rl to get a fuss about and spend emotional energy on.

That is one of the tragic things about this. The RMT rings will win this war more so than the players or CCP. People don't understand PLEX completely. And RMT will continue onwards if they slay their dragon (MT stores).. the ****storm that is null continues on its slow deathspin.
People need to liberate themselves from more than just CCP.. they need to do so from other players that have hidden motives and are pushing the right buttons.
Truly do make it about yourselves, people.. remember it is only a Game. Have fun playing.. if not, play elsewhere. It need be no more simpler. ---------------------------------------- Treat the EVE markets like you are its Pimp.. it is your 'willing' employee to fondle n use n abuse as you please. |
