I have 4gb ram, quad core cpu, good vid card.... I load my 3 clients as usual, 20 minutes later I still have 100% disk access.... can barely even move my mouse and even my TS3 hot key won't work while loading eve.......
So I close 2 accounts barely.... I disable station view (Incarna features).... I open my two extra accounts and they snap open immediately and disk access stops.
How the hell could CCP ship these changes? The feature is kinda cool, as long as you just don't want to play the game or have any use for your computer. This is BEYOND ridiculous. I have hella invested in this game, including my Titan account, and I'm still considering leaving this game if it stays this absolutely ridiculous. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS 20 minutes of solid hard disk access before ending task EARLY, has no excuse.

The solution is simple. Never, ever dock again. Ever.

Check that you don't have any of your clients at the log on screen. That lags the PC even more for some reason. Just a thought. ;)

Trouble is, it doesn't look that good. I mean the room is pretty good, but my character looks average. If I look at my character and open my Character Sheet to compare with the pic of my character... the pic is 100 times better looking. Plus the movement controls are utter crap!
Note: I know your statement that I quoted was sarcastic, but I just wanted to make my point.

My character looks absolutely horrible ... and that's if he shows up at all. 9 times out of 10 I just have empty space.
My rig - Core i7 930 @ 3.6Ghz, 6 gigs of ram, GTX 580 video card ... I think my character should always show up. Even when he does, his head has some dusky grey metallic looking skin color, and just looks awful all around. Even if the rest of the stuff going on wasn't so amazingly terribad, that alone is laughable.

There is your problem right there.
While docked, Captain's quarters uses up to 1.5GB of memory, at least on my machine. (1.5GB * 3 = 4.5GB) Oh course things are going to be laggy, your computer is going to use your HDDs paging file (virtual memory) to make up for the extra memory needed, which is going to run your HDD non-stop.
People really need to learn to get by without using multiple clients at the same time. Nothing in-game requires you to do so, unless you are anti-social, which if so you shouldn't be playing an online game anyway.

Yes, the lighting is horrible, and the major problem with the character is they are completely emotionless in the Captain's Quarters. Give them time, and that will be fixed.
How would you have the movement controls improved? "Press W", "Hold Left-Mouse Button", and move mouse in the direction you want to go seems pretty basic to me.

Except:
1) It's good strategy. Hauler alts, cyno alts, market alts, carebear alts, etc, all of these are useful even to players who have friends in EVE.
2) CCP encourages players to buy multiple accounts (power of two promotion, etc). But oops, now you can't run that second account you bought because we released a beta test (at best) of Incarna! -----------

Imagine how much ram it is going to need when you go in an area that is bigger then a small box with multiple people on screen at once, like 50 players being rendered... --------------------------

I dont know. I have played a lot of games, and none of them have felt this bad to move around. I mean if your mouse isnt in theright position your character drifts to the side when he is walking, i thought my guy had one leg shorter than the other.

1.5GB times 3... yep that explains it for sure. Captains quarters doesn't look much more complicated than a Halflife 1 map, so I have no clue what the memory is being used for. geez
