Your playing on half a client. Its gutted so it takes up less room so it downloads quicker. There trying to balance things out and see if gaming modes are actually fun and doable.
Keep at it man its hit and miss. Yesterday I played a dozen matches. My PS3 locked up after my first match and after my last match. Sometimes you get locks a bunch sometimes you dont. What are you doing telling us?! Go report the damn problems at https://forums.dust514.com/ and make note what you were doing and when it happened and maybe it will help them track down these problems. This is a beta, its not an accuse to why things don't work. It's the reason why you should want to even be in it. To make it better. |

C'mon now Mr RSB, you are one of the most prolific interactees on this dust portal forum
It would be crazy to believe that you don't have an alt in DUST. And if you do have a character in dust then you KnNOW how much posting about the bugs, locks and hard freezes is going on
If a modicum of that traffic gets reflected here it can only serve to amplify how concerned the player base is for the progress and momentum (or lack thereof) of beta development currently underway.
IOW: it's not Harden The **** Up, it's Hurry the **** Up- this beta needs polish, progress and production. And it needs it now |

Been in the making for about how many years !?
People bought ps3's for this game.
Ok you are right why play a beta and then rant.
But then why release a half baked game with a working RM to AUR system ?
i been getting my hopes up for quite a while on this game and meant to state my dissapointment.
and i must say since last week the crashes have reduced a lot.
ty for your reply Diametrix
oh and btw it would have taken a ccp employee 15 mins to go thru the same bugs as i have over the last month orso and make note of it himself. |

You do know that these bugs only affect a small minority right? That's why there is a beta, you need a large sample size to get any meaningful data about the rare and difficult to reproduce bugs.
Also any and all aurum that's bought in the beta is refunded in full every time their is a wipe, including the final wipe when the game goes live - basically buying AUR now gets you better value for money than if you buy it at launch. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

They haven't released the game. They've released a /beta/. To a small group of people (If you don't think it's small, you've got the wrong sense of scale for these things.). By their very nature, Betas are buggy and unreliable. And trust me, it's better than it was. They've been making substantial improvements with each release. I AM OUTRAGED THAT THE BETA I AM PLAYING IS BUGGY AND INCOMPLETE. I HAD BETTER GO ON A PUBLIC FORUM AND RANT ABOUT IT WITHOUT EVEN GIVING ANY SPECIFIC DETAILS OF THE ISSUES RATHER THAN ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTE FEEDBACK TO THE DEVELOPERS SO THEY CAN IMPROVE THEIR PRODUCT. Thread Cleaned.
As many have said, DUST 514 is in BETA. This means that there WILL be bugs.... that is why it is called a BETA. You can help resolve them quickly by reporting them in the appropriate forum (https://forums.dust514.com/).

Thanks for the formal reply isd , and yeah sure a beta is a beta but inviting all eve players and all former eve players to join does sound like a release to me and my statement on the rm system still stands imo.
eve is not a beta and it has a ton of bugs.

How many EvE players actually have a PS3, or are willing to buy one just for Dust. Some but not many. And we basically created Dust with our subscriptions. I think it's perfectly acceptable they allowed all eve players to partake in this new corner of the universe. Just as we can test every expansion early on SiSi because we are subscribers.
...Plus EvE is a social machine. Us spreading the word about it is far more effective than CCP buying ad space. |

It's a beta release. Even says so on screen.
Inviting Eve players on is just inviting a larger beta test group. FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ Blueprint calculator, invention chance calculator, isk/m3 Ore chart-á and other 'useful' utilities. |

I would point out that oddly (atleast for a system that is suppose to have a single spec) there seem to be a large number of varying results people are having.
As speaking from personal experience, the game runs relatively smoothly (a little lag playing in US primetime, but to be expected living in the UK) with only a single lock-up in the past 2 months. In-fact I would point out that DUST 514 right now is actually more stable than Battlefield 3 in terms of system freezes or glitches.
This is not to say there is not still room for improvement performance wise, particularly on enclosed maps that seem to have the lowest framerate performance due to memory limitations of the PlayStation 3 (something that Square-Enix with their Final Fantasy XIV ARR fanfest presentation echo'd being a serious issue with trying to provide what modern MMOs want to on the platform)
I would recommend that if you have an older PlayStation 3, you may wish to trade it in for a modern one as recently the old 40, 60 and 80GB models have been having large numbers of issues with modern titles. This unfortunately is a sad fact of Sony product quality, where their consoles particularly early releases tend to have short shelf lives require refurbishment or replacement.
One thing you can do is try to dust out the inside, as this can often cause overheat & freezing issues on many consoles. While this is something most of us do with our PCs on a regular basis, often we forget that Consoles are for the most part very similar devices that need the same maintainance to keep working properly. |
