Okay, I think this is complete crap:
So we got walking in stations and all our avatars look insanely crap in the lights of the CQ. So I guess most people remade their characters, at least thats what I did. When I was remotely satisfied I had to clone jump and BOOM there i am catapulted back to the very old base look... This forces me to go through the change-progress again (possibly 5 times...).
Give the option to make a choice when changing characters: Permanent or current clone only. Of course I understand that NEX Items can not be on every clone. But it should not be too hard to make the permanent all-clone-redesign to exclude NEX-Items.
And lets be completely honest: I think even a full redesign for characters should be given for quite some time, so we can actually see the REAL appearance in station and not the almost always better looking appearance in the editor...

Oh god bump for relevance.
It does not even remember the clones but instead goes back to your very basic style (the one you had pre incarna) everytime you jump....

I agree. It's a pain in the rear. I hope CCP fixes this soon.

I completely and unquestionably endorse and/or support this product/service.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I strongly suspect lazyness or lack of incentive within the ranks of the codemonkey army at CCP to be the cause of this inconveniancy. Afterall, Mr. Hilmar made all these amazing short clips on 'Excellence' and 'CCP Deliver' over the last two fanfests, surely that wasn't just all hot air!
All joking aside though, this issue does bring up a much more ugly problem within the development of the very character creator and recustomiser. CCP, in all it's glorious obsession with it's CARBON code framework, completely seem to have failed to mold the Carbon code to fit EVE's unique needs.
Let me re-itterate that, Incarna does not even FEEL like a part of EVE Online (the game). Incarna does not make me FEEL like I'm a capsuleer, it makes me feel like I'm just watching the game through a screen/from a balcony. This is because Incarna has not been tailored to EVE. There are no features that would be EVE exclusive. Nothing in the Incarna instance relates to the rest of the game that we did not already have before. The fact that we cannot save our appearance across clones is a result of this.
In all honesty, the Character Recusomiser is the big bad boss in all of this mess. It was pushed out on pretty much no notice, as a neat little feature prior to Incarna (quite a bit prior to, actually), and it was NOT itterated uppon when Incarna arrived.
If CCP had thought things through, they might have found out that having to go into a completely seperate instance from Incarna to change your appearance is a tedious and unnessesary thing! Afterall, we were able to change our T3's subsystems without needing to swich instances. How hard would it be to just make putting clothes on your avatar as simple as dragging it from a closet onto the actual avatar in the 3D space? That's how many used to fit their ships.
I'll state it again. Incarna does not feel like EVE, because it does not share any of the functionality of EVE. There is virtually nothing within Incarna that couldn't have been reskinned and labeled as content for WoD, or even DUST. Hell, it could even have been retextured to be sparkle ponies and you could have made MLP Online.
Just because you have a flexible framework does not mean that it's gold right out of the box. You need to refine that ore into an ingot, and then forge it into a beautiful work of art for everyone to appreciate it's true value.
What we expected was this.
What we got is this. |

Especially that part reeks of "half done before release". Since it's possible to save the character appearance anyways (otherwise we would be bumped back to a standard look everytime we log out), why not let the appearance be copied to the other clones as well, apart from that NeX apparel which is dropped together with the originating clone?
The cherry on top would be to make the appearance saveable and loadable. Just like jumping into a clone, go to character redesign, choose "use premade redesign", and 'lo, you're back into the looks you've made for yourself some time earlier.

While we're at it I'd appreciate being able to give Snoop Dogg his head back and get the tattoo I asked for. I don't even

I would be satisfied if it would remember the designs you had per clone. Then you only would have to redo it up to 5 times. But everytime you jump to a clone (even one you redesigned already) you are back to the very base of the Incarna launch.
