Bear in mind that the EVE implementation on a Mac is not native. Basically, there's a bit of Windows emulation software (Cider) that translates some of the Windows-specific stuff (e.g., DirectX graphics) into Mac-usable stuff. With this being the foundation that Mac-EVE is built upon, I am doubtful that it will take advantage of any OSX Lion features that aren't automatically applied to all programs; if CCP has to program extra to utilize Lion-specific features, I don't think Mac-EVE will use those features.
Will EVE run on OSX Lion? I think that's a question for TransGaming and Cider, but I feel confident that OSX Lion won't break anything with respect to that.
This is all speculation. Take it with a grain of sand.

Eve runs as well as it normally does under Lion. I don't experience any new or different issues with the current preview.

I guess the other question about Lion is will it fix the SM3 issues with the ATI GPU based iMacs and Macbooks - at least those support SM3 under any other circumstances but of course the new Eve client doesn't recognize it?

Apple supporting its old hardware in a new os? Sounds not like their usual approach of evilness to make new hardware more attractive. So I would not count on SM3 supporting drivers in lion, except when they want to sell lion again for 150$ per update like they did with leopard, THAN this would be a killer feature for a lot and thus implemented and in a later update removed again. Why a forum in the year 2011 still has no automatic double post merge which can be done even with javascript mostly is beyond my understanding. |

Thanks Nelyn. I've got the same machine and the same red textures/yellow hands (with shaders set to high). Don't suppose you've noticed a performance boost as well? (wishful thinking) |

Didn't noticed performance boost, maybe few fps more in space, but CQ still very laggy. |

In regards to Apple's new OS, Lion, I have not experienced any serious problems running Eve. The Captains Quarters is a bit laggy, but overall I have not seen any downgraded performance.

Full screen support requires some coding changes with the app from what I've read. Apps that support it get a new control on the far right of the window title bar.
Also, yellow arms are fixed for me too but CQ is still really laggy with high shaders.

Running fine under Lion, and crashing in Character Customisation just the same as it always has. The only difference Lion has made is that it has totally screwed up the Active Directory logins on my computer, not changes at all to how buggy EVE is.
Plus I had to do a fresh install thanks to the Lion upgrade, so I know my caches are clear.

Can't say about the 3000s, but the previous ones (with Nvidia 320M) runs EVEà well, fine, for small amounts of "fine"
It works for character maintenance ù updating trade orders, industry jobs, chatting, moving a ship or two ù but not or any heavy-duty activity. Hell, it doesn't even cause any major core meltdowns in the character creator or in CQ, but it's not exactly the optimal system for thoseà
So if you can find some tests that show you the performance of the I3000 compared to the 320M, that'll probably help you answer the question. ùùù ôWe want to try this thing called micro-transactions, but we don't know what it is. Can anyone explainà aw screw it, let's just do it! What could go wrong?ö ù ÇÇP |

Edited by: Etioki Otumone on 25/07/2011 18:21:36 EVE seems to work on my old Air with Lion.
1,86 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM, NVidia GeForce 9400M, 120 GB PATA HD.
This is a fairly slow setup, but it works in space. I have CQ turned off, of course. Framerates are not sensational, but it is playable. No crashes so far.

Lion works. Inverted mouse scroll-wheel is a little annoying though if you have natural tracking enabled.

Lion works ok for me, but there is small problem. I tend to put my iMac to sleep rather than turn it off. Resuming from sleep results in EVE running at 6-7 FPS at the login screen, docked and in space. Only if I reboot (or a cold start) will it play at the regular 30-35 FPS.
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro. Old but adequate.

Unlike you guys I do have issues with EVE on LION OSX. It crashes randomly sometimes with error report and others with no reason whatsoever. Also quite often in game if I'm using EVE voice it will for no reason boot me from voice and eliminate the option for me to rejoin unless i relog. These damn problems are forcing me to return to playing the game on windows which i was hoping to avoid since playing this machine.

I had the same problems with the random crashes. I updated Lion Os X tot 10.7.1 and it stopped. The only thing I now still have, is that I get dropped out of voice chat.

The game work fine in Lion but now the Eve voice will NOT work that makes eve very difficult to play in fleets. Can hear can't talk.
Please fix this CCP as I know i'm not the only one.
