I'm curious ...
If for one moment it's possible to put aside the issues that so many are seemingly up-in-arms about (well at least maybe for one reply) I'd love to know exactly what is so attractive about rabble-rousing, bandwagon-hopping, ****-flinging etc etc.
Myself, I've never seen anything attractive in being part of a crowd and jeering at stuff, but that could just be my personality, or my age.
So I'm fascinated to know why YOU might enjoy it, if you do do it. I'd love to be enlightened, so please post anonymously if you like and honestly if possible.
Consider it a polite request for a little psychological insight into the phenomenon .. Cheers !
PS ... and Congratulations! in advance to anyone who posts something really cutting/ironic/smart/clever - I'll be following you guys up later as the second part of my project if that's OK :) . All generalisations are false - Discuss.

Edited by: Ghostwind on 26/06/2011 13:35:32 It's the sense of unity, across in-game differences, that drives them on. Unity within a community is good for all parties, no matter the objective - even witch hunts. In time they will forget the objective, and have a stronger sense of unity within.

Well, what a smart post. For one, do you really believe that people come here actively looking to enjoy the mess that's been caused by corporate big-wigs? If so, you're very out-of-touch with this community.
It's a protest for what people believe in, not for you seem to denounce as rabble-rousing, bandwagon-hopping, ****-flinging etc etc.
Maybe you could honestly look at it from a decent perspective instead of being a waste of time and energy.

I don't know if this thread is the place for a serious answer or not but here goes.
I resisted Hulkageddon to get the noobs in my corp -- and other noobs like them -- to stay in eve. The interview by gaming nuns afterward was a pleasant surprise. but the player quote here is why i did it.
I joined the mob on Friday because I believed the in-game actions would attract ccp attention and every ship helps. they DID attracted ccp attention the way these forum posts do not. they also attracted pcgamer attention which is soething ccp can't ignore like it ignores it's players. I left the mob when it turned into a riot. I did not join them again because Hilmar's letter showed they don't care what we do ingame so long as we play it. that's why i unsubbed my 2 extra hulks.
the protest had no leadership so it turned into a riot that tries to take systems down. if you look at the original thread that was not the goal. question for you would be why you would say things that are "cutting/ironic/smart/clever" at a time like this? all i can think is that eve isn't a unique thing to happen in your life but just another game to you. and that's ok.
