so long story short is:
No to gold ammo but that doesn't mean we won't sell ummm... gold ships with pre built faction standings.
Grrrr.. it seems to be another stall tactic. Sound humbled (not) and call in the CSM (who they completely ignored previously on multiple occasions). Now they can hide behind the wall of silence until after the meeting.. add a couple days for editing... add a few more for the Non Disclosure..
basically let the masses go "hmmm maybe its working" and then pull the rug out in what? a week? a month?? as soon as they get dust running?

it is all in the semantics. I haven't trusted CCP Zulu /Zulupark since the massive Carrier nerf thread. CCP is trying to buy time. Originally by: Rob Paladon this is ok.. just wait the results of the meeting. Let stop the protest for a week to see the results to show them we have fait. If not.. we start protesting again.
I disagree, if anything I hope people keep the protest up, they are either a) going through the motions of a PR excercise but actually still don't give a toss what the players actually think. Or b) they are really rattled by the scale and nature of the protests.
Either way, to stop now would just send a signal that penning a few words which amount to nothing more than a 'we'll get back to you in a week' is enough to shut everyone up. I say we protest harder, louder and a with more passion, lets really drive the message home. (Obviously aimed at those agreeing with the protests).

"However, just to prove the point of the Fearless newsletter and give you a further understanding of what it is then there are no and never have been plans to sell "gold ammo" for Aurum."
I think this is CCP saying they will not sell items that affect game play, but it is worded so poorly, I am not really sure. You would think, after 4 days of outrage, CCP would stop tripping over themselves and be as crystal clear as possible (maybe this is as clear as they can be).
I did kinda chuckle at how he was annoyed at the breach of trust within the workplace. I mean, how dare the workers of CCP put the players, and their product, before the company.

To the people worrying about the phrasing "Gold Ammo" - Blame the CSM. That's one of the terms The Mittani's been using for "pay to win", so its likely that CCP were told that they must address that point. So they probably appropriated that phrase from them, rather than using it to be deliberately misleading.
I'd expect clarification soon.

Not the final word on the situation but more importantly CCP has been forced to respond, they are now begining to communicate, and the have brought/summoned(lol) the CSM to Iceland. For what its worth I think they have at least taken more than a casual notice at the rage that has been directed at them over this weekend and have been forced to at the very least give the illusion of wanting to work with the player base. I predict that CCP will (reguardless of what they really wanted to do) will be most apologetic, say it was ALL A BIG MISCOMMUNICATION, throw eve24 under the bus, assure us nothing more than vanity items for rm and offer concilatory items dirt cheap to appease the alliance banning.(remember you heard it here first....lol I hope) |

Originally by: Agrapena Uh, the CSM are the go between for the players. So I would expect yes, they matter.
You seriously buy that? Mittani said it himself when he was running: The CSM has no power. They can recommend and advise until they're blue in the face, but CCP has no obligation to actually listen to them. Moreso, historically they never really seem to have listened to the CSM. Ask former members why most of them stopped running for CSM... it's a JOKE. It's a few free trips to Iceland to grab a few beers and pretend they're representing the players. Some CSM delegates still try (and I commend them for that), but ultimately it's just a gimmick CCP uses to calm the masses.
And frankly, I'm f***ing tired of it.

CSM already told them everything they should know, so I don't see a point in all this.

Well there you go, no gold ammo.
What about gold ships? :heh:
Really though, Dear CCP, I think I speak for most of the playerbase when I say that as long as you assure us that non-vanity items in the NEX store will never be a thing, most of the pitchforks will disappear pretty quickly. Personally I also think that the pricing scheme on your clothing items is insane, but since I don't care about the WoD, doll dress-up part of EVE in the slightest I really don't care too much about the price of your e-shirts.
I'm still a little ticked that basically this entire expansion consisted of a poorly executed attempt to begin beta testing the WoD engine in EVE (in which you also managed to completely screw up lots of UI elements and core, outside-station game mechanics), but during the AT broadcast Soundwave made a pretty big deal about "changes to internet spaceships and 0.0 in general" being the next big thing on the chopping block, so it sounds like we still have something to look forward to in the not-too-distant future. I don't think people are going to unsub over you guys using EVE to help develop your other games, but they will unsub over the implementation of a pay to win model on top of our existing subscription fees.
I'm pretty sure the CSM is going to tell you guys more or less exactly this. Please listen to them so we don't all have to quit EVE Online: A Bad Game, which a lot of us have grown quite fond of (somehow).

It would have been so easy. He should have said that they're not offering anything but vanity items.
Didn't say that. Needs the CSM to come up with a way to introduce them without causing more rage.
Very transparent.
Bye.

A victory for the players and the CSM then? Looks like it, but hopefully this whole crisis has smacked some sense into CCP management and the CSM can make some important adjustments in the course this game is heading and putting some serious deadbolts on Pandora's box of microtransactions.

Let be honest folks, this is a good response and the best under the circumstances.
CCP have now called the CSM for an emergency meeting and will hash out details and specifics there that will clear this matter up either way. Either CCP will take a stand and force it or there will be comprimises with MT and Incarna.
For me the ideal situation is :
1. Allow disembarkment from ships, not straight to Incarna 2. Arum purchase vanity items only. All other game items are purchased via plex/isk. 3. Arum will never be used for standings/skills or other in game advantages.
I have not played for 2 days because I felt terriable about the game. My accounts have game time beyond the CSM summit, so I lose nothing by waiting but continued sub is very much dependant on how this situation is handled.

Playing for time...that's it? Transferring the heat to the CSM...
And the question is still there, will there be non vanity items in the NEX Store?

My account will remain unsubcribed for now at least. Although I am interested what will come from the meetings with the CSMs, are those CSMs pro or anti non-vanity items for instance.
Why do they need to clarify what type of goods will be ok, if they had taken any interest in the forums during the last few days they should already know.

"In Fearless people are arguing a point, which doesn't even have to be their view"
Oh right, magazine comes out with people trying to argue a point. Suddenly because the mass does not like one of the views being argued it was not even their view at all! They are just arguing it!
Also, redirecting all *****ing to the CSM so you can put your fingers in your ears again next time you chat with the CSM? Nice tactic. Instead of having to listen to thousands of people *****ing you'll only have to ignore less than a dozen.

To be honest we need more than stalling at this point. At least an extension of the meaningless "no gold ammo" to "nothing more than vanity items".
When my time runs out I'm gonna take a break from EVE for a couple of months and see what happens, I don't think that's a bad general policy.
EVE subscribers are already paying for a bunch of deeply dubious extra projects, if we let them charge us stupid extra prices for the trickle of stuff that they are investing back, then the game is just as doomed, it just might take longer to die.
Look at it this way, the Aur store prices are indicative of the amount of money that CCP intends to get out of us. It's no good saying that we just shouldn't buy them, if no one buys them (and realistically they won't) then they will find other things to charge us for and those things will be the stuff that our subscription fees are paying to be developed.
