Would people stop the protests if CCP were honest even if you donÆt like their answer?
I was in jita û both my clients just crashed so taking a break :) I would stop if I were told the truth.
If CCP are planning pay-to-win and will not be swayed no matter what, there is no longer any point to protesting. I would un-sub and play out my remaining time.
If they had planned to introduce pay-to-win but are prepared to revisit the idea then I would stop protesting.
If they have no plans for pay-to-win then I would stop protesting.
CCP is getting bad press and IÆm not happy about that. I do love eve as many do and that is why we are so passionate about it. Honesty is always the way to go. Anything else causes all kinds of grief, as IÆm sure you have all noticed.
Continued lack of answers only fuels the fire.

Edited by: Eleena Wolf on 26/06/2011 22:05:46 If ccp does not respond soon, the protest keep going and the negative press won't stop. Then protest won't matter, Eve dies one way or another.
At which point I will be asking if they plan on selling to another company or making it open source.

I say 'no.'
It's like throwing a tantrum. Players have realized it's fun, gets them attention, blows off some steam, and makes them feel 'responsible'. They'll just go from one cause to another from now on.
CCP's lack of heavy-handedness ... their failure at not immediately banning, gagging and biomassing any possible opposition, has probably ruined the game far more than any decision on MT's or newsletters.

tbh.. i've had 7 good years in new eden and i will continue to support CCP in whatever they chose to do, all the protests are nothing more than whiney school children not understanding that micro transactions are the way forward.
atm there is something like 4k scumbags un-subbing due to a leaked internal email which has no bearing on the game as confirmed in a blog by CCP Zulu earlier, they think they have CCP by the nuts and are squeezing for more...
Had the vanity items been cheaper, half these scumbags wouldnt have krept out of the gutter and would still be enjoying eve for what it is and blowing sh*t up.
Dont stand down to these idiots CCP, stand your ground!

There have been issues before with no 'throwing a tantrum' This is entirely different. This is about the future of eve. If CCP want to ban me for protesting then i really couldn't care less. at least i would know where they stand regarding players concerns. Edit: Well that doesn't make sense lol. we already know where they stand on that one.
If they were up front from the start this probably wouldn't have happened or at least not on this scale

Is that like a voluntary revenue reduction measure? The 4k ppl that unsubscribed so far is already a hit to the bottom line. It's not like they can afford to ban and biomass the 60k that participated in protest at some point along the line. Eve only has 300k user base, it's not Wow.

Because since everyone else does it, it must be okay, right?
What's it like letting people stomp all over you? Is it fun? Is standing up to something you disagree with just too hard? ________________

I left school years ago and i'm not whining.
lol. we know the letter means nothing it's the lack of answers regarding it thats the problem. I couldn't say to you they are going down the pay-to-win road but the evidence at had suggests they are.
We don't care about vanity items! they can up the price for all i care! Hell if we could modify our own ship skins i would probably buy one.

If "stop protest" means "re-subscribe my 3 accounts" - no, I won't do that with at least 2 of them: I have to save some money for RMT shop.

I think it would need to be a SUSTAINED DIALOGUE.
Both words being equally important.
There would need to be a CCP presence. And acknowledgment, THE PLAYERBAE IS IMPORTANT.
Right now, the feeling is "Screw you too, we are in charge fu"
And they need to fix that ASAP.
Whatever they do, it has to be sustained, not just some devblog that perpetuates the problem.
Open up a Survey, Forum threads, CSM, EVERY CHANNEL THEY CAN, to show the playerbase "YOU ARE THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT IN ALL OF THIS."
And then stick with it until there is some sort of conclusion.
Right now, it just feels like they are being VERY deceptive. they have plans to do FULL BLOWN CASH SHOP, and instead of having HONOR, they are doing it in a very cheap and "sell out" way.
Theres NO WAY they **** off their entire playerbase and attract a different playerbase. Theres just no way.
Someone might have gotten that idea to emerge in their brain. But theres no way a bunch of Casual players all come flocking to EVE because now they can buy ships. Its not gonna happen.
EVE Sucks without a community. The COMMUNITY IS EVE.
And they are trying to sacrifice the community for P2W dollars?

i would stop protesting if they answer " THE " question,as thats what this is about,
if i didnt like the answer.. ie they were going with game affecting micro transactions,, then i would most likely play out my time till i think the game is too damaged,,
however i wouldnt bother with endgame content like sov holding or anything needing a longterm active comitment, Trust in the Rust |

Nothing in eve's history has compared to the tempest of many things coming together all at once. There might be threadnaughts about balance and other issues. But I feel the circumstances and reaction are both volatile but in a sense deserving of one another.
If such an event were to occur again then perhaps nothing was learned on either side.

I agree. Our passion comes from our concerns for the future of eve. I've been around just over 2 years and the player base hasn't increased on a massive scale since then. Eve's learning curve means it's not for all, so loosing it's players can't be good for CCP.
perhaps their plan is to turn eve into an arcade shooter and port it to the PS3... Kiddie friendly

I'd quit. Eve would die as it would have lost what makes it great/different than any other game out there. Things in game are player created, not bought by $.

Unfortunately the founders of movements aren't the controllers. Fortunately the type of protests going on don't need any single leader and so even if some people stop without the answer to the big yelllow question, hopefully enough will continue until it is answered.

To those who insult the protesters, I am ironically not one, I'm sure you're looking forward to the P2W features that people are protesting to prevent. As for me and my friends if P2W comes to pass we intend to ****, PILLAGE, and BURN any who buy them. Continue murdering them till CCP informs us we are Griefing and then Hire Mercenaries to continue our work.
Or I just goto Perpetuum. I honestly don't care unless they actually enact Pay to Win.
------------------ Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the forum. Doing so will result in the release of Aur to purchase p2w devices. That is all! |

^^ Totally agree, If I hadn't unsubbed my accounts already this would be a seriously tempting playstyle for me (& I'm a dedicated carebear), even if it was just for the tears. Besides hulkageddon is now pretty much dead in the water, someone needs to organise Nexacalypse --- CCP just shat in the sandbox, so they could try and sell us a gold plated shovel to remove said turd. :( |

Of course people would stop, Only fools would keep whining about something that isn't there to whine about. Ignorance like poster #3's are the typical very few try to remain at least somewhat tactful. If the problem was dealt with as swiftly as the SOE thing was dealt with there wouldn't be any room FOR tears.
Are every single one of the player-posters valid, humble and sane complaints? Well of course not - Just like every single person at EVE has the exact same vision right? Ridiculous notion.
If they just came out and said it, There would probably be rage for a day or two and then the quitting quitters would be gone. It can't be helped that alot of people have sunk significant amount of time into the game and have strong feelings for it.
