Thought I was crazy because I was away from game a little while and maybe I was just wrong. But a friend just told me that backwards flying Tengus is a bug. Just coming here to confirm.

To lazy to find the original thread about this. We have changed to way ships get rendered (essentially all ships where flying backwards before you just didn't see it because the world around was backwards too), while normal ships are just stored on your hard-drive T3 Ships get rendered when you look at them and then stored so you don't have to render the same sub system setup again. Unfortunately this means that all the ships you had still rendered in your cache have now incorrect coordinates aka flying backwards.
Fixing this is simple and straight forward
1. Start EVE 2. Open Settings 3. Go to Reset Settings 4. And hit the CLEAR button where it says Clear all cache files 5. Client will restart 6. Problem fixed __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Infrastructure Software Engineer

Thanks.
Plus, fixed to be 100% less snarky.

Not a problem, I figured CCP could use all the help it could get with PR and overall customer service.

Its more personal in this case, I can get a bit sometimes and you called it correctly. Pointing it out in such a nice fashion however deserves my gratitude - should you visit Iceland at some point there will be a free drink waiting for you. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Infrastructure Software Engineer

Hey.
I tried this; wiping the cache has just caused the tengu ship model to screw up even more.
Fitted subs: CPU Efficiency Gate Supplemental Screening Capacitor Regeneration Matrix Accelerated Ejection Bay Gravitational Capacitor
Right now it looks like the front end of my ship is wedged into the engine section, and the bit in the middle is floating somewhere in front of the combobulated engine/nosecone combo.

Where you logged into the game while you cleaned your cache or on the log-in screen?
It sound like the rendering got screwed up after the cache got cleaned, just to make sure none of the cache files was locked by the client try it again from the login screen just to see if it is a problem with the rendering or cleaning of the cache. __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Infrastructure Software Engineer

Tried that, even tried logging right out of EVE, and manually deleting the cache files from my C:\users\user\appdata\local\CCP folder.

Same problem here. With a Legion. After clearing the cache for not flying backwards graphics for Legion are messed up. Tried clearing cache folder out of game also. |

Bump.
Still having this issue, despite repeatedly clearing the cache (from in game while logged in, from the login screen after having started the client fresh, and externally by deleting the files myself while the game isn't loaded).
Here's a link to an image of what's happening.

Thank you for your patients, the image is very helpful too, I've forwarded this to a Dev who knows the rendering pipeline better than me.
Could you please post your hardware specs in the meantime here? __________________________ CCP Sputnik CCP Core Infrastructure Software Engineer

Hi, Could you do a couple of things for me?
First, write down your exact setup and reply to me via EVE Gate, or here in the forum (use EVE Gate if you don't want to give away your super secret ultra effective setup ;)).
Second, take the ship apart, and repackage the individual pieces of the ship and then assemble/set it up in the exact same manner as you had it before.
I don't know if it'll solve anything, but these T3 issues are notoriously difficult to reproduce.
I appreciate your help with this.

My Tengu's engine graphics are not working either. I get the beginning of an engine exhaust plume, and that's it, it looks like the tengu is flying forwards, but the exhaust is still pointed in the wrong direction possibly.

Have you tried clearing the cache as well? Can you guess how long it's been since you assembled your ship? If it was prior to late May this year, then this is probably the result of when we changed EVE's coordinate system. Also, if you take the ship apart and repackage the pieces and then re-assemble/-fit the ship again, does it still show those flaws?

Repackaged ship (loosing my rigs ), repackaged subsystems, emptied cache, restarted client, assembled ship: still the same problem.

What's your Graphics card type and driver version? I know it's the standard question to this type of issue, but sometimes updated drivers can solve the strangest problems. If not, at least the information might help us reproduce this issue internally.

I cannot repackage or reassemble my tengu at the moment, as I am in a wormhole. I have tried resetting the cache twice and still nothing. I have a nVidia 470 with driver version 8.17.12.6724

Bump again. It's been a while now - still no fix for the issue? I even tried clearing my cache again today, before posting this - to make sure it hadn't been stealthfixed.

ANOTHER bump.
I've even tried repackaging the ship and refitting it now (and losing the rigs in the process...) and it still looks just as screwed up as the pic showed.
And now two weeks without an answer. Even just a 'we're still looking into it' would be better than nothing, guys.

I was having a similar problem. At first it just looked like it was flying backwards, then after clearing my cache. . .it was still backwards but the flame was appearing randomly at the back.
At first I thought it might be rendering the propulsion subsystem and electronics subsystem backwards, but it turns out it just had the whole ship turned around.
Last night I did a full re-install (I'm not gonna spend the better part of a billion isk for a ship that flies backwards) and the problem was fixed. Thankfully I did it as I was going to sleep so it was good in the morning.
