Typically when a new product to the world is released, if the product is not wanted, people simply do not purchase it. If the product is over priced but interesting, people talk about it and few purchase it, and over time costs drop allowing more and more people to enter the market.
In an online environment where the goods in question are virtual, and no substantial or life changing gain could ever be seen by owning such a product, one would think the reactions to such products would be indifference.
The opposite has proven true, with Eve. What CCP has done is reveal how desperately people want what they have, to the point that people will revolt because they can't afford it. Eve looks more and more like Zimbabwe than ever (with a nearly on par valued currency to match), whereas the NeX store is perhaps a virtual bread market, and the people have been told the billions of isk/dollars which they hold may only buy a single loaf of bread...or, in this case perhaps, a monocle.
The overreaction shows Eve has a very healthy future. The doomsaying which springs up is simply starving attention *****s, who had this overreaction bottled up since the last expansion. This rage bottling process will begin again until the next expansion when the next mini-revolt will explode on the forums. It happens like clockwork, and each time they get perpetually bigger as more and more of them are chased from WoW to join our ranks. Eve has the most thankless, desperate player base in all video games. And they have this because the game is just that good.
I say, epic win CCP, you've expertly shown your product is as equivalently important to internet geeks as bread is to the starving people around the world. Now drop the prices and cash in!! Or don't. Either way, you're doing it right. If you weren't, nobody would care.
To the "protesters"...Eve thanks you for the free publicity, and by the way, claiming you've unsubscribed is meaningless...I've never subscribed my accounts, I pay month to month or use PLEX, so if you're leaving, do it right and just gtfo after you contract me all your stuff.

It IS indifference. Nobody gives a **** about the vanity items, other than the fact they're hilariously bad. You are mistaken if you think this is why everyone is ****ed off, but don't feel bad about it because people like you in the forums are ten a penny at the moment.

The people raging against the moot point being CCP selling SP or Ships on the market was addressed months ago as an absolute no, and has been reiterated five times the past week as an absolute no, but idiots here are acting very Christian in nature and able to overlook these small facts. I'm only addressing the issue which is based in reality, not the phantom ones created by hysterical ****s.

Or rather, reiterated as:
'If we need to go slower, we can' 'I don't know' 'I'm just a mouthpiece' 'These $1000 jeans be all-out fly, dawg' 'No current plans, hold on while we just fly the CSM to Iceland at 3 days notice'

Because the same idiots who've practiced this with each and every expansion/change ever before in Eve are getting good at rallying other sub-idiots around false premises? I understand it perfectly, it's always the same idiots causing these issues to become bigger than they are. Attention whoring is an addiction without cure. I should know.

Corporations are founded on greed, being upset about the fact a company who strives for profit seeks more profit...well, let me ask, do you frequently **** with your legs above your shoulders?
One reason, then? 1) People want it.

You are oblivious to reality. Corporations are not founded on greed, it's not XIX century capitalism. Most Eve players don't want it. Striving for profit != shamelessly milking the client. Get a clue in modern business ethics and come back.

Seeing as how you call them "idiots" and the issue "false premises", no, you don't. You have no clue, and you're trying to cover up this cluelessness with just about every logic fallacy in the book.

Have you payed attention to the events of the last week? Dude, people didn't pull the ships/ammo selling out of their ass. If you would go read the stuff that has come out you would see the ships came from **** CCP has said. Ahem, from a leak "Not all virtual purchases [in EVE Online] will focus on customization: some will simply be new items, ammunition, ships, etc. that can be purchased outright."
If you are going to rage about others, make sure you understand their cause completely before you look like a tool. I met someone once. No really, I am serious. |
