Edited by: Aderata Nonkin on 28/06/2011 14:24:47 The Past:
I am not one who jumps on a bandwagon of hatred when something is considered wrong with EVE Online. I have many times in the past critisized forum users like Tipia and Akita T for their lack of clarity on certain topics regarding CCP. The past week, however, I have been reading what's been going on with the game more than actually playing it.
That is unprecedented for me.
CCP has made mistakes in the past, some of them more serious than others, but the community has always come together and the storm eventually subsided. By now, year 2011, we are a scarred community though. I feel there are events in the background we don't hear about, there are talks and discussions about the future of the game that is vastly different from what has been communicated to us and most of all - lies. Not saying the whole truth to your supporting community might as well be replaced by an outright lie.
Communication is the key in any community. This has been said numerous times on this forum the past week and it should be repeated like a mantra. CCP needs to hear it.
The Present:
The community of EVE Online has certainly given CCP a present to remember. Riots in Jita, riots on the forum and supposedly mass-cancelling of accounts witness that this is not a staged form of throwing toys out of the pram. This is much more important than the price of a monocle.
I don't care if the virtual items cost $50+ to purchase. EVE Online is my first, and only, MMO. It is also one of the first computer games I've been playing more than 6 months without getting tired of it (approaching 5 years in July so the record is broken by some margin). I don't play it for the virtual store as I'm sure many of us don't. Silence is often taken as a confession, at present we as a community have the right to know if CCP have altered their plans for our sandbox game. Not just because of leaked Newsletters or e-mails, but because of their silence to our question.
The future:
- We know CCP is fighting lag. This also means the countless problems that CQ have provided the playerbase.
- We know CCP is fighting bots/macro'ers. Anyone who doesn't believe this might as well leave the game immediately.
- We know CCP wants to maintain EVE as a sandbox. Introducing P2W will, in effect, destroy the sandbox and thus the game. I am certain they donnot want that even though their silence might say something different.
- We know CCP has called for an emergency meeting and the CSM have clearly stated they will make our voice heard. At present this is the only rickety bridge we have to our disposal to make the schism between ourselves and CCP manageable. Let us not burn it too soon by further accusations and rumours.
People say CCP are using EVE Online as a cashcow to fund their two other projects. I donnot believe this to be entirely true. Even if that was true it wouldn't matter as long as we are being told the whole truth at all times and the future vision of the game was clear to us.
Thanks for reading and fly safely.

Even if EVE is the "cashcow", I hardly think it matters, I don't see other people complaining about Blizzard using money from WoW to develop SC2. It's what game companies do, they can hardly magic the money out of thin air, I don't get why people don't understand that.

I couldn't care less, it doesn't mean anything and I don't get why you mentioned this other than for it to be click-bait (Which would be sensible since trolls seem to ignore CCP sympathisers).

I don't really disagree with anything the OP said... In fact I could have written it myself.
Not being facetious, but what is your point here? As in: What is the message you are trying to send?
And how is what you wrote particular to females and their POV's? I think the issues at hand are clearly the same, regardless of gender....

Not commenting on the obvious, but they are better at multi-tasking anyway. Though I will admit, I came here expecting to read something more about positives about WiS and future use of the NeX store, so yeah I don't see how making that statement added any weight to the OP's points. It comes from several other sources as well, subscriptions and plex from one MMO will simply not cover the development of three games at the same time.
The fact is that people are quick to jump to false conclusions and those conclusions become rumours. Soon enough these rumours in turn become the accepted truth for the jaded community.
so.. how many people are in team gridlock?

Well, there are those sites which the forum-rules forbid to link here ...
Back to topic: About the 4th future point it should be said that rumors and accusations are about what compelled CCP to call in the CSM meeting. Appearantly this happened just after some days of _heavy_ rumors and accusations. Some members of the CSM said that CSM was frequently overheared during the development of the latest patch(es?). As long as CCP does not regain our trust every concern of the players will ignite the wildest accusations, rumors, god knows what else.

This is probably the first time someone on this forum has said that about me. More often than not I'm supposedly a "racist troll".
Thank you nonetheless.
Quote: Even if EVE is the "cashcow", I hardly think it matters, I don't see other people complaining about Blizzard using money from WoW to develop SC2.
Like I said in my OP, it doesn't matter. What matters and is significant in this case is the lack of transparency from CCP which causes the community to be jaded about their other projects.
The same arguments are thrown with other game companies all the time, the difference is they deliver or the game perishes.

I confess it was partly click-bait. I'm not good at titles so I could have just put something generic and nobody would bother reading it.

To play on the tards who assume that because a woman plays an MMO she's obviously better than them, because people are generally stupid.
Also to OP, CCP basically screwed the pooch with this expand, and at this point I'm not sure that CCP does want to mantain a sandbox. They need/want money, and they've decided to shaft us to get it. Your first two points about lag and botters are completely irrelevant. Your final point is meaningless because the only reason CCP is making the CSM go to Iceland is so they can force NDAs on them and spin whatever happens there however they want.
And if CCP isn't using EVE to fund WoD and Dust, what ARE they using?

Originally by: Discrodia Your first two points about lag and botters are completely irrelevant.
On the contrary, they are not irrelevant at all. A lot of players are experiencing lag and heat issues when having the CQ feature on. If you can't have it on because it'd fry your PC then the expansion is next-to pointless. CCP's fight against lag will also mean they will address the issues with CQ, as evident from the sticky'd post on the General Discussion.
Regarding bots, if they weren't actively fighting the bots to preserve economy and the sandbox integrity then it wouldn't be as bad if P2W items were introduced into the system. I won't believe for a minute they want bots and macro'ers in the game, effectively madjusting the economy, and at the same time having plans for a P2W scheme.

You don't know that. Again, that is an assumpion that is very dangerous to make. It's only natural, however, to think that but if that's the lack of faith you have then I'm surprised you are still here.

At this point nobody can bring anything new to the table. It is about having a rational mind when thinking about the defining event this week.
So far people have been quick to demonize CCP for something that hasn't happened yet and people who might come to the forum to see what the fuss is about is drawn into the bandwagon of hatred without knowing what the matter is about.

Yet you decided to make it about your vagina and you brought it to the table. Is the implication that women are rational when "thinking"?
