so i grabbed about 20 t1 frigates, have a decent fit on them, and I want to go out and destroy some dudes . I'm not sure if I should go to low sec or null sec. I'm also not sure what kind of targets I should be engaging and hoping to defeat. Another thing that has been bugging me is, I'm bummed at the lack of literature about pvp in general there is out there, or maybe I just cant find it. Any game I play I like to read up on to make sure I'm doing everything right and that I have every single variable covered. Does anyone know of anywhere I could read up on combat in eve? |

They are systems HED and Ama. They mean to send you to violent systems where you will get gangbanged.

Edited by: Dorian Tormak on 28/06/2011 21:14:21 I didn't mean HED-GP. If I did, I would have said HED-GP.
What I said was HED, as in the HED constellation, containing Amamake, Siseide, Auga, etc?
Go there with your frigs, learn how to avoid the camps and stuff, and learn how to pvp.
Edit: Or at least try.

Use this awesome map and check the right-hand column for up to date info on the most active systems.
http://evemaps.dotlan.net/
Play around with the info it can give you to get an idea of active and less active areas and head there.
I tend to glance over ships destroyed in the last 3 hours, pilots active in system and then leave it set to 'number of jumps' to see where people are moving the most. Signature locked for inappropriate language. Zymurgist |

Part of what makes Eve amazing is the fact that, like life, there is no simple guide you can read and then win. While resources can help, you also have to learn by doing; good, old fashioned, trial and error.
I used my blog as a record of my own trial and error, and you may find it useful to see how I started out, and what I learned from my first 20 ships.
Good hunting, and fly dangerous.

No true guides exist because everyone pvp's differently and has different ideas. Yes you have the fotm ship fits and fleets, but the ones who are the most succseful are the ones who think outside of the box.
Most people look at battleclinic and fit their ships with cookie cutter fits and think they can win with them. Usualy its not often the case, as those fits also depend on skills of the pilot posting the fits. Or implants.
Best advice I can give, find a fit you feel happy with and go with it, fly it get blown up and learn from your mistakes. Refine the fit and try again.

I saw Taurean's blog awhile ago, and have only recently realized how beautifully simple and effective it is. I'm currently on a trip away from my EVE computer, but I've arranged for there to be 20 shiny Merlins with my name on them when I get back. I'd love to talk to you sometime by the way Taurean, drop me a mail ingame, and I'll reply when I get home in 2 weeks, or somehow let me give you my email without getting spammed to oblivion.
Fly risky, make Iskies!

I too am a follower of Taurean's blog, all good stuff... I also found this quite interesting to read even though I don't fly a rifter but has some good reading, and I am sure there are many more.. best is to understand your ships strengths and weaknesses and go out and get blown up

Good idea, getting 20 fitted frigs ready. By the time you lose them all you will have learned a lot.
That's exactly what I tell everyone who asks me to teach them to do first because it is the absolute best way to learn.
As for targets, it all depends on your ship, fitting, and tactics. Typically T1 frigates would look to kill other T1 frigates, miners, haulers, and in some cases t1 cruisers.
Being able to choose your targets/fights is one the most important skills to learn in PVP.
As for a place to learn about PVP the best is: http://www.EVEProGuides.com (which happens to be my website)
