Edited by: Dobra on 21/02/2005 20:09:29 Hi,
Thought I would share this setup.
Since I don't have the skills to do lvl4 missions myself I figured out a way to still be of help, some missions you need a extra boost in tanking so I setup my Dominix for it.
I call it "The Priest".
Hi --- 4xMedium S95A Shield Transporter (not sure about the exact spelling) 1xSmall S95A Shield Transporter 1xMedium S95B Power Conduit Mid --- 1xMWD (offline when healing and online when needed) 4xCap Rechargers T1
Low --- 7xCap Relay I
This setup gives you 172.5 hp (shield) / second and 20 energy / second. Perfect for hard lvl4 missions, haven't meet anything that can brake this tank. You can do the shield hardining forever but if you also turn on the energy the cap will hold for about 2 - 4 minutes depending on how you turned on the modules.
I have 4800 cap with 72 seconds recharge so quite a lot.
And with Drones you can easily kill of the frigates and cruisers if needed.
/Dobra
Edit: Changed the spelling to the correct Module Names

Yeah, umm, dont mean to bust your bubble, but Shield Extenders are mid slot modules Vin Diesel claims he has never hailed a taxi. He just runs up to them at stop lights, opens the door, shoves the current passenger over, and tells the cab driver what his new destination is. |

yup its a typical support ship setup.. much beatter useing a dom/scorp to do it than training for a support cruiser :\

What if you are first target though? Once you are scrmabled with this setup you will go down unless someone else has your back but to do that they would have no real offense either... Try fitting a warp stab or two for level 4's? -----

Why not just learn to fly a Logistic ship 'cept for cruiser lvl 5 which you need for HAC's anyways the other skill requirements are reasonable and it can boost its traget ship from 50 km away.
Better still fly a tanked up transport ship with shield transportes on its high slots its gets the warp strenght bonus for free and you can haul the loot also. "The object of war is not to die for your corp, but to make the other b@##@#d die for his" |

Because neither of those is fully insurable and can be trained within 2 weeks.

But yea, I have contemplated a support-ship setup for my Dominix, but my conclusion has always been, not being able to fit a tank for your own ship is ridiculous when you're armed with drones.
Acctually this type of setup would kick arse if they would finally introduce repairdrones, I mean damnit, I have the skill for Repairdrones since I created my character, where are the drones to go with it?!!!

Also remember this is with T1 cap recharge and relays only.
With T2 I think I could do about the double OR change some relays for T2 Large Armor Repair and hardeners.
This ship is of course dead if you are scrambled, but with lvl4 missions I have never ever got targeted first as long as I don't shoot.
If you wait for the mission maker to get all the ships aggro to him then it's just to fire away, remember tho that drones will attack any foe's within range even if they aren't aggroed which in all cases is bad for you.

Support cruisers are almost completely useless in terms of remote tanking etc. They can only realistically fit a couple of repair modules, and so can only provide a small boost/second.
When I flew around in a support ship, I did favour the domi. It has a nice drone bay with which to defend yourself, and the low slots are really nice for getting a quick cap recharge time. However, I used large named armor repair units instead of medium shield transfer arrays. ====================================

Depends on who your are trying to boost and how much you want to be dependant on each other. If you are boosting a raven/scorp you might be better off just tranfering cap with good named cap modules. Then it can use shield boost amp(s) with an XL booster(s) which will get you more hp repaired per cap unit. With good skills you can then drop some of the cap relays on the domi and put tanking stuff or warp stabs in just in case things go bad.
The domi is a pretty good support ship however, right now drone control seems to often be laggy or buggy. I have seen the drones decide to attack the ship you are healing after they run out of other targets. This isn't helpful, and would be really bad if you boosting someone not in your corp in +0.5 space.

WhiteTiger,
I'm glad we're not the only ones who have seen this (friendly drone aggro, no aggressive act). We were working this very scenario. Friend in another corp using the healing Dominix setup (Tech 2 med shield xfer arrays are sweet) was attacked by the gang member's drones for nothing more than healing. Concord relieved us of two battleships for our trouble, and the petitions were denied. Board documentation does clearly state that being in a gang does not give you the same aggressive act protection as same corp status, but the false aggro from the friendly dones is clearly a game bug.
Clearly, flying mixed corps in high sec space is a recipie for disaster.
The healing Dominix does rule though. It is especially sweet with T2 transfer arrarys and cap augmentation. I liked having a mix of shield and energy transfer. Sometimes the tank is getting pounded so hard that even two good armor repair units can't spend cap fast enough. That's when the shield transfer really helps out.

Highslots on your fit are baaad
4x medium shield trans and a SMALL one?
Go for as big ones as you can and maybe replace some relays for stabs if you're gonna use this deep in the **** with the grunts. --------------------------------------

Actually not, this setup gives the most hp/cap and 5 medium will drain your cap faster than it regenerates also large transfers takes a huge amount of cap each time they heal so medium are better in that sence.
But with T2 rechargers and relays you should be able to use Large transfers.
But my math tells me that T1 named are better than T2 since they use less and cap and that's the most important with this setup.
And show me any npc's on a lvl4 mission that can break a 172.5 hp shield tank with good hardeners.
