I'm just about to step into a Curse for the first time. But how to use one is giving me a headache.
If you can't see another ships Cap, how do you know its capped out? I see guides saying you keep a small Neut on one once its capped out to keep it capped out, but how can you tell?
And why fit a NOS? Many fits seem to include a NOS but a NOS only works if you have less cap than the target, doesn't it?
And there seems to be a big argument over whether to fit a medium repper of just go buffer with an armor tank. Or is the FOTM to shield tank with a couple of LSE 2's?
Any tips appreciated

I don't have any links handy but I would recommend trying youtube of all places.
That and some killboard for recommended fittings. Note for a curse it's important to understand why a particular fitting is used.
You can tell that an enemy is capdead when the flashy of hardeners dies or they stop using their AB/ MWD/ Guns (if not projectiles). This is also where experience plays a part. |

You can observe it indirectly. Hardeners goes off, so the animation on its surfaces stops. Usually they cannot use MWD/AB anymore and if they need cap for guns, they stop shooting.

NOS is used when there is chance you will have to engage more as one and you do not run cap injector. It is situational module. Small neut is ok, but usually you will be ok just with medium ones too.

If you fly Curse, you want to be mobile because you need to dictate range and be able to get away if needed. Active tank is cap intensive and you need cap for neuts. Therefore is shield tank natural choice as you can get speed and cap (low-slot mods) and it regenerates itself and you do not need to think about it.

If I fly Curse for solo running around, I run following fit:
[Solo Curse] Nanofiber Internal Structure II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Damage Control II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I,Tracking Speed Disruption Warp Disruptor II Heavy Missile Launcher II,Caldari Navy Widowmaker Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II,Caldari Navy Widowmaker Heavy Missile Medium Diminishing Power System Drain I Medium Unstable Power Fluctuator I Medium Unstable Power Fluctuator I Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I

Agreed. I go t2 on neuts but not sure what the fitting requirements would be like. I also use a faction point for range advantage as stated above.

I don't fully understand this piece - I take it that you are attacking 2 ships, you neut the primary until it is dead while the NOS sucks cap from the secondary, to keep you in cap - i.e. in place of having a cap booster?

That is correct, but choose wisely. No real good buffer tank in a curse, you have to realize when your primary is out of cap so you can switch all neutralizers (minus one) to the secondary target. This is assuming you actually found 2 ships worth attacking that are not Drakes or Hurricanes...and that is a stretch these days. The secondary will be hitting you fairly hard until this switch over takes place. ========================= Karash Amerius - Operative - Sutoka Fighting Broke - A Eve Online Blog ========================= |

Fit TWO tracking disruptors, you'll thank me. ================================================== Anyone can shoot themselves in the foot, or the ass, but in this case CCP managed to do both with one shot, which takes real skill. -CSM Trebor |

Could you elaborate on that? I'm also interested in getting in a Curse (eventually)? Why is it better to have 2 TDs and what do you have to sacrifice to fit them?

Commendably honest PvP video, and pretty funny too. Inspired me to start training for a Curse anyway

Wouldn't mind training for a curse too, however, drones might take too long to kill the other ship and by that time, his/her friends could show up and you end up in the pod. Do Tracking disruptors jam them enough to not taking damage?

TD disrupt the tracking speed and/or range of turrets.
