The CSM meeting is underway, and apparently from the tweeting it appears that today has been for about every topic, EXCEPT for the topic of non-vanity items for Aurum, which is on the agenda for all day tomorrow.
If they need an ENTIRE DAY of meetings on just that one topic it is a fair bet the answer is not 'don't worry it isn't happening' :P
On a side note, as a person with expendable income, I welcome the chance to spend a few hour's worth of salary to keep up with the 60-hour a week basement dwelling neckbeards

I have lots of disposable income.. I allowed myself to utilize a small part of it to pay for 3 accounts per month. I will not now, nor ever, pay a subscription and MT for non-vanity items. Nor will I continue to fund a company that is so blatantly hostile to it's customer base. I'll find another use for those funds, not like that's a difficult thing to do.

Items AND services you mean. Setting up paywalls to subscription game is not good.

Yes, we know, you've only told us how you're quitting a million times now. The real question is when is your posting going to stop?

Edited by: Raid''En on 30/06/2011 16:32:26 in fact the issue is not they will put non-vanity items, but that they need lots of time to discuss what we and the csm consider not being vanity items. it's not as clear as you may think. some are obvious, some are not

Cancelling your subscription doesn't nullify the rest of your remaining gametime.

If the corp you want to join has a dress code, is that vanity or functional?

keeeping up as in buying replacement ships is different than designing game elements so that there are more and more booster and premium items that cost lots of isk or $ and ADVertising them to players , encouraging them to aquire them via the MT converstion.
As it stands now, there are 5 implant slots that are made for play enhancements above the 5 attribute slots (ok with snakes you get a bit more from the attribute slots)
The benefit for spending oodles of isk tops out at about %5 in the individual categories, but those are just individual categories.. they don't compound really to give you 25% better performance. You might get 5% extra shields, %5 higher damage on your chosen gun choice, a bit more cpu or power grid .... it does add up somewhat but not night and day
The cost for 3% is usually only 20% of the 5%.. you can get alot of the value fore less.
But without promotion, I don't think the use of even the 3% is so common that more than 1/3 of the players take advantage of them (i trade implants so i can see their volume and its tiny compared to the replacment rate of ships and guns...even if you figure you'll get podded quite a bit less often than losing a ship)
As it stands now , there are those illegal boosters out there ... but they are very very uncommon in their usage.
Even without the MT, I wouldn't be fond of the switching to a game play element that emphasized the use of costly (in isk) upgrades on top of those are now, widening the difference between pilots flying the same ship based on how much extra isk they wanted to risk, or spend per trip.
By making the upgrade perks something they'll promote, they're going to make that practice more common place and suddenly their game balance decisions are going to be tainted on which balance choice will make them more $.... not which balance choice will add most to the game play balance of farming vs shooting etc...
Even in your position as someone who is comfortabl paying real worls $ for additional game elmenent, putting asside the guy in the basement, to keep up with other guys yourself, you will need to spend more $ to keep up with guys like you that will pay a little more than they had for other new incremental boosts that come on top of others already availble.
It will be a matter of you paying more to stay competitive, no longer just enough to buy enough isk to get what 6 or 10 hours of basement dwelling farming can yeild.

I'd probably spring for a corp logo for a non-pvp ship, just for the sake of the corp, beyond that...... pfft.... no. Didn't start this game to play dress up, won't finish it doing so.

Could be vainly functional, or functionally vain.
Why choose just one when you can have both for the same price? --Vel

Because the rallying cries have been so focused on the terms vanity, non-vanity and gold ammo that I feel the community is underestimating how easily those notions can blur together.
