New pilot here,
So I get defaulted to an NPC Corp as I'm running the training missions, the State War Academy.
The tax rate is 11%, which doesn't really bother me as I'm only running level 2's right now.
Is this tax income actually doing anything positive, or is it just going 'poof' as it's for an NPC Corp? If it's just going away with no benefit whatsoever, then am I able to drop the Corp without picking up a new one?
Thanks for any help!

Fake answer: The money from npc corp taxes are used to fund the never ending stream of free noob ships for all pilots.
Real answer: No it just vanishes.
CCP Fallout:My understanding is that a blog is being worked on. I don';t know what the ETA of it is, as the Community team has been too busy handling war declarations from various countries. |

I figured it did. So now, can I quit the NPC Corp? I've been trying to figure out how to do this for a couple of days now, still can't find any 'quit Corp' option.

You can only quit the NPC corp by joining a player run corp or forming your own. As soon as you leave a player run corp you end up back in an NPC corp. |

Side-note : the NPC corp you start in initially can never be rejoined. The NPC corp you end up in whenever you leave a player corp is always the same, but different from the one you started in. IIRC, it depends on your bloodline, but not absolutely sure. _

Just a heads up:
by making/joining a player-made corp you open yourself up to war declarations from other players. During a war, said players may engage you in any way shape or form anytime, anywhere.
NPC corps on the other hand cannot be war decced, so that 11% is often seen as a "war immunity" tax. _______________________

You might find it simplest to form your own solo corp if you are really determined to avoid the MM part of MMO and want to avoid taxes.
Finding a kindred spirit corp produces much more satisfaction though, but takes a bit of effort.
