Edited by: Chutney Hustler on 01/07/2011 07:55:54 Has anyone got a decent scimi fit for roaming Nano gangs?
From reading about I gather the Basi is largely considered the better option but I've had this Scimi since '07 and feel like it needs some loving.
This is what I've put together so far:
[Scimitar, PVP???]
Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter Medium S95a Partial Shield Transporter 250mm Light Artillery Cannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction ECCM - Ladar II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II
Damage Control II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Hammerhead II x4 Warrior II x1

Logi V I've used this setup lots, not far from your setup either. Cap stability is not a necessity, and the reps are capstable when you are not mwding (which you will be pulsing at most anyway). Tanks 2k if it gets repped by a similar scimi when you have tengu in gang. A friend in my corp replaces the damage control with a nano though, but I am gonna laugh at him the time he finds himself volleyed to death by too many arty ships. I think its fast enough without the nano but I fly with snakes (4,4k m/s overloaded)

I see a lot of these MWD fits with a free utility high. Naturally, a lot of them fit a gun for hopping onto the tail of killmails, but if you're not interested in that, well...how about a cloak?
Hide your numbers, get them to aggress, then start doing the repping thing. Is the scanres penalty too crippling, or could this work?

cloaks can be handy but it eats up cpu and screw your scan resolution... -

Yeah, the thing about that is that the Scimitar has a crapload of both. I have NEVER seen a scimitar fit EVER that was constrained by CPU. It's always powergrid or capacitor.
As far as scan resolution goes, it's the difference between locking a cruiser in 4.3s vs. 2.6s -- a small enough difference that I'd be more concerned about recalibration time.

Edited by: ChromeStriker on 01/07/2011 14:12:34 A cloak is a situational tool on logistics, if your roaming then thereÆs no point as you cant warp cloaked and tbh those couple of seconds lost in targeting can mean the difference between saving a fleet mate and letting him die.
A wmd isnÆt strictly necessary, your transfer range should be enough and an afterburner is a better option, *unless* your going to be crashing bubbles and/or in truly big fleets.
And Lastly if you must kill board hor then donÆt do it to the loss of a repper assign some drones to your fleet mates (a tackler will love you) and then you can concentrate on your real job of keeping people alive.

Yeah, recalibration time and scanres penalties.

[Scimitar, Scimitar] Damage Control II Dark Blood Power Diagnostic System Power Diagnostic System II Capacitor Power Relay II
Republic Fleet Large Shield Extender Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II 10MN Afterburner II Conjunctive Ladar ECCM Scanning Array I
Large Shield Transporter II Large Shield Transporter II Large Shield Transporter II Drone Link Augmentor I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Medium Shield Maintenance Bot II x4 Light Shield Maintenance Bot II x1
Notes: With perfect skills, cap stable at 48%. You can use a regular PDS instead of the Dark Blood if you have a +power grid implant. You can also replace the drone link augmentor with a cloak or whatever else you like.

It does make a huge difference with quick primary switches, and can screw up the hide&bait game as well.
Not saying a cloak is always a terrible idea, but most of the time it is.

This is what I run. If ecm worries you replace the cap recharger for an eccm. Plug in a kxa2000 and pop some mindflood, then go to work. Tracking link is to boost a buddy in a mach or nano tempest, so if that's not your cup of tea then drop it for another invuln or the aforementioned eccm.

First part: yes
Second part: no
An afterburner scimi is a viable option and often simply alot better than an MWD scimi. However in this case, since OP asked for scimi to support roaming nano gangs, MWD scimi is indeed what you want.

The problem with a MWD scimi is the loss of a repper, you effectively reduce your ability by a 1/4 and thatÆs a BIG chunk.
With all the char iv had (that have flown logi) none of them have had a problem keeping up except TM when i had to burn after some nano HAC's going after a couple of sniping battleships, at a pos. and then i found it easier to go the opposite direction n warp to them lol. The truth is most* fights are contained enough that it just takes some smart positioning to cover the field.
*the truly big fights use a bassi

The OP asked for a nano gang fit. If you ever bring an AB scimi to a nano gang I truely hope that your FC calls you primary. Furthermore, Hatsumi (who is a highly experienced logi pilot BTW) posted a four rep MWD Scimi and suggested a few tricks to improve cap too. Now please stop suggesting AB fit's in a thread about nano gangs.

Sorry miss I stand corrected, that is an impressive fit and if i was exclusivly a logi pilot it would be perfect, its now in my EFT . I just didnt consider implants as i like to fly other things (dont want to lose the damage implant) maybe the next tyme i get podded or the next...
I still stand by AB's tho, the survivablility increase is notable and i havant been left behind yet... Exept by those SHAC's . Your right Op go for kastsumi your FC's will love you more. - Nulla Curas |
