The problem is that a stereotype of the CSM has developed that has them all going to Iceland and doing nothing but drinking, partying, and being CCP fanbois. So when they (The Mittani, CSM HNIC) tweets that he has been out drinking, it reinforces that stereotype. Wasn't it a CCP that said "Perception is reality?"
Frankly, if there is an advantage to be had by loosening inhibitions, it is for CCP. They're the ones on the defensive and the CSM should be on the offensive. Getting the CSM drunk would be a good way to try to "mellow them out" about this whole situation and get them a bit more pliant and compliant. If I were the CSM I would ATTEMPT to keep this trip all business and stay sober and wary for CCP spin and bull****.
Staying sober disproves the stereotype and raises confidence that the CSMs at least understand the expectations of the players who elected them. The fact that they don't get that lowers my faith in their intelligence, maturity, and ability.

hahah what makes you think they are not living up to the expectations of the 10000+ goon/test accounts that voted them in? I would suggest they are doing exactly what the players who elected them wish.

Yeah, because being asked to interrupt your professional job and your personal life in order to fly across time zones to stand between a rabid, psychotic player base and a company with a record of public relations nightmares is an enviable position. You jelly?
Being on the CSM is a lot of work. Ask any of the current or past members. It's a real PITA - and for CSM6, even moreso with the current eruption of drama.

Every member of the CSM ASKED to potentially be put in this position - I don't feel the least bit sorry for them. They asked to be put in a position of trust, and they wanted the responsibility of representing the players. What is so wrong with the players wanting them to fulfill their promises and NOT breaking their trust? What is so wrong with the players asking the CSM to refrain from drinking for a few days when representing them?
So, just to get this straight... I am to feel sorry for these people who actually put this on their own shoulders, and now are asked to step up to their own claims of commitment?

Meh. v0v It wasn't like I was calling the OP a ******, or to telling him to go **** off and eat ****. :) My tone was frank, but I wasn't attempting to personally attack anyone in particular. And "foul language" is a superstitious idea, IMHO. Call me a troll if you like, but I'm the type that cares more about the content of a statement than the words used to express it.
I simply think its matter of fact that its a waste of time to engage a forum where dialogue is supposed to happen, if you've already decided how you feel and its not going to change. What's the point in engaging in conversation if you're not willing to learn?
Saying something is going to fail, without a doubt, in an attempt to predict the future, isn't contributing an idea. It's setting yourself up to say "see guys? I was right!"
The OP was making character attacks against someone he knows via TWITTER. I'd say that's pretty immature and disrespectful.

Icelandic people have to drink a lot of alcohol, and the reason they do it is to make them forget that they're in Iceland.
Wait, what? Is a balmy 13 degrees celcius here in sunny Hobart at the moment!

They are the elected "representatives" of players of a video game.
One of my ********* exploded I was laughing so hard the first time I learned about the CSM.
You really expect people to take that role as anything BUT a joke?
Frankly, I expect a bit more from my elected officials. Where are my ***** shots?? Where are my vag cigars?? Where are my anti-monocle hypocrites taking it in the eye socket in the bus-stop bathrooms....oh wait, we got that one....
OK, well at least they're trying.

Hundreds? Currently 135 posts and I'd wager there's less than 100 unique posters in here.

This was a working trip a summit intended to resolve the conflict. It is not a fanfest, not a party.
The inability of some CSM members to appreciate the distinction demonstrates a complete lack of self discipline, it is immature/juvenile hubris.

Gotta play "Devil's Advocate" here for a second, but isn't it a bit premature to say they are a waste of time until we figure out what deals they worked out with CCP?
I mean, lets be fair to everyone here. It's very possible that those who saying the CSM is a waste of oxygen could be eating their words in a handful of hours.

No. If CSM wasn't a waste of time it would have produced meaningful results in the past. It didn't. There's no rational reason to believe this time around will be different.
It takes formative management measures and auditing aswell as proper point by point investments to get this kind of stuff done. Not a bunch of "elected" fanboys talking and clubbing with like three out of 600 employees. Wake up. This is not a soap opera we're talking corporate management here.
Edit: Whatever statements they cooked up are basically irrelevant. The CSM did nothing but regurgitate what CCP could've extracted from player feedback within less than a few hours. Whether higher ups at CCP understood what this is all about remains to be seen, because it will reflect in what CCP actually do now and during the next year.

Hopefully this will be the last CSM. I'd rather be able to vote on issues in account management or something like that than have these drunken frat boys provide a PR meatshield for CCP.
