Sorry to be this blunt but have all of you CCP dudes totally lost your minds?
We basically want one thing: a promise that there will never EVER be any service or product sold for RL money that changes the balance of the game.
What we don't need (and will only produce even more rage) is some super polished PR statement like the Whitehouse gives - many big words but utterly uncommital. We also don't need a video response in 17 languages with subtitles and sign language - just quit the **** , get someone honest (not Zulu or any other PR/marketing loser) to stand up and answer the only question that's importand:
WILL THERE BE NON-VANITY RMT?
Yes or No?
Any amount of money wasting to have your snake oil crew pack up the response in fluff and PR talk won't make me or anyone else sign up again.
Whoever is consulting you on PR and communication: fire them, they're worse the useless. Then get someone we can respect back and have them talk to us loke you did back in 2003-2006/7 (before you let quacks like Zulu into positions where they'd fail so dismally).
Anyway: bullcrap PR talk won't save you CCP. Quit the act, fire Zulu, grow a pair and be honest with the people paying your wages (well, at least until sub runs out).

Why post this when they are about to make their statement in a couple of hours? Those who work in a corporate setting (raises hand) knows that companies generally take FOREVER to make any statement, especially when they are potentially about to make an about face or huge policy change.

Agreed the players don't need a video response, although the video response is probably mainly PR for outside of the game. It could also be an attempt to make what they are saying look sincere, which you can't always tell from just print.
The reason they probably addressed a lot of the different problems during the meetings, is that gives them more of a chance to at least compromise on somethings so that it won't all be bad/good depending on someone's perspective.
But of course over non-vanity items those that would leave (myself included) are leaving no room for a compromise.

Sounds more like the I, Me, My generation is demanding answers now instead of waiting for the set release time. Maybe you should talk your parents into buying you an education.

The 'Me personally' generation is about to lose an Orca pilot, and Obelisk pilot and a pretty decent manufacturer.
CCP has had more than ample time, even during the last two days, to say something meaningful, even though they kind of lack any credibility whatsoever by now. ***************************************************

I've been saying this for a while now (well before this crisis ever struck) but the thread from Navigator simply made me want to share my views again.
Sorry if you feel your time was wasted.

OP, this is about SOOOO much more than just RMT. Yes, pay-to-win is abhorrent, but the issue is also about CCP abandoning development of EVE for its own sake, and only introducing new stuff that takes them towards future, non-spaceship products.
EVE should not just be a cash cow, there's life in the old heifer yet!

Hey everyone,
Let me give you a quick update and explain what is happening.
Our Localization team are working on German and Russian translations of the Dev Blog right now. Our current policy on Dev Blogs is that they must be released with proper translations for our supported clients which are English, German and Russian. I can appreciate that many of you are anxious to read this blog and get answers to many important questions and all I can promise is that as soon as everything is ready, we will publish the blog and announce it through the player news center, MOTD, and all of our social media outlets.
It would be highly inappropriate for me to tell you about any of the contents prior to publication or to provide any type of hint as to the content of the blog. We feel that it is important for all players to read the contents and view the video with no preconceptions or expectations based on hints or rumor.
We realize that many of you have been extremely patient and are anxious to get more details and this will happen in the next few hours. Should there be any further delays I will be sure to keep you updated although I do not expect this will be the case.

It's just that there are about a thousand threads all which say the exact same thing. It just makes it very hard to peruse the threads for actionable information. Maybe I'm from the old guard, but I remember less than 20 years ago the only way you where going to find out pressing news statements was to read them in the Sunday paper or be lucky enough to hear it on the news...which you had to be watching exactly at the time it aired.

I mainly want to know whether there's any point in me finishing up skill training for my mining, I've maxed out industry and I've already almost finished mining so I'll be able to equp the tech 2 strip miners soon enough. However if CCP go through all the way with this micro-transaction rubbish all of that is going to be utterly pointless.

nothing wrong with vanity transactions, long as the sandbox industry isnt broken. Even 'training speed implant up to 10m sp, 3500 aur' to help newcomers that want to "play/get somewhere(without purchasing a char of the bazaar forum and lose their name)" in this superb game is ok with me =)

However I am anxious about the blog myself as it will continue or conclude my eve game-play. Low-sec is also an emergent sandbox, only itęs about 3 inches deep and full of cat poop. |

So it really doesn't make much difference what your pixels are training in the meantime does it? Either it will be pointless or it won't, but if things do go well, and you aren't "forced" in to quitting the game, you would regret not putting that skill on to train. Now put your dummy back in and relax for a few hours.

I agree but I'm willing to continue to pay them my money even if they're not developing the game exactly (or even remotely) to my liking. But what I can't accept (and ultimately made me unsub) is the threat of non-vanity RMT.
Once that threat is gone I'm willing to "sit down at the table" with CCP and try and provide them with (hopefully sometimes constructive) feedback to help them develop the game in a more positive way.

Thanks for the response. I am very anxious to read the response but when I read your post in the original thread I suddenly got a strong feeling that the CCP statement was going to be so "polished" and "scrutinized" by "PR-specialists" that in the end we wouldn't get anything useful.
I hope my feeling is wrong.
Either way, I don't blame you personally. If anyone I blame the CCP management for not recognizing the situation and knowing their community better (and acting accordingly - and earlier).
