Hi all, Just seen a cool feature in another MMO (hellgate) there system requires normal log in and password to get into game as normal, but before you can (undock) move to another area or trade modify your goods you are asked for a 4 digit pin.
This is only required once per login session and if this could be incorperated into EvE im sure this would give players and corp possessions and isk a extra layer of security.

You can already password-protect secure containers. Throw your stuff in that and configure the containers to require a password on taking items.
Should serve about the same purpose.

CCP are planned to introduce an authentication token system in the near future so I cannot see them do this. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

PIN is an acronym, which stands for Personal Identification Number.
Please in future do not use 'PIN Number', as this makes no grammatical sense. And that bugs the hell outta me. --

IĈm assuming that this would be a 2nd layer of account security as is the Tokin idea that CCP has already in the works.
I had a much simpler idea, one that the online banking system uses. CCP side logs my public IP address. As long as a I log in from this everything is cool. If I successfully log in from a different public IP address it'll ask me for a second security key or question. Like naming one character from that account like the forums already do. If I attempt to log in from a different public IP and I've "guessed" the password wrong three times .. account gets locked and my real email address gets the unlock info. I'm down with this ...
The CCP tokin I suspect is going to be something similar but they'll charge for it

They are also planning some additional securty measures, I believe that they were talking about having to enter a character on the account like the forums. May be worth checking the fan fest notes for the details. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. I think PIN Code is a better name, because a PIN is just a code

It does make more sense than "PIN Number" but the N in PIN stands for Number, meaning you're saying "Personal Identification Number Code" - the final word is superfluous, leading us back to the correct grammatical usage, "PIN".
