Greetings. I want to make a Tengu my little toy for scanning down people in Wormholes and well... killing them.
I played around with some fittings, also read some really good ones, the problem is, in my opinion, i need the following modules as mandatory so I don't give up my DPS cuz it's needed for the pew.
So IMO for shield subsystem it must have Tengu Defensive - Warfare Processor. This because this one gives an extra High Slot which i need for the Expanded Proble Launcher thingie for combat probes. ( I WILL FLY SOLO so i dont have a scanning alt or anything like that so in order to not get a 1 launcher less, that's needed)
Now because this mod gives 5% shield resistances / level i thought that active tanking would be the only option. You get too little shields to try to buffer tank it.
Also for the offensive subsystems OFC Acceleration Bay. Im not going with Cloak.
For the electronics sybsystems Tengu Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer. This one reduces the CPU of the 220 cpu consuming probe launcher so it's a must too.
Now from here onward, can someone please help me with a decent fit for ganking? Scanning down ships and warping at 0, pew-ing and getting the hell out.
ps: i got 2 caldari navy Ballistic Controls which im not afraid do use. Smart people have quotes in their sig - me |

Corrected Shield Subsystem error in first post.
So basically a good wormhole gank fit with:
6 Launchers (assault pref) 1 Enlarged Probe Launcher thingie (that uses 220 cpu without the proper subsystem)
active tank pref but not mandatory(tho the sub layout makes you go for the active one anyway with the +resistances shielding)
optional: 2x caldari navy BCU's cuz i got them lying around but i'm willing to buy anything if it's not too expensive.
ps: do i REALLY need cloak for wormhole ganking? Cuz i started with the ideea that i don't.
Any help appreciated.

I don't know if you are for real, but ok.
You really need a cloak to do sologanks. Use a stealth bomber or maby a recon. Gank PI ships, indies, haulers and easy stuff like that.
A curse or maby a Arazu is a good solo alternative to a SB.
WHEN you get some experience you can think about cloaky t3s but you will still have problem engaging other pvp ships. Usually you will not be able to take anything down before friends arrive.

What the guy above said Unfortunatly for you the people that live in WH will more than likely be very well equipt for T3ness and have alot more experiance than you in Wh's and what does and doesnt work. Practise first in less expensive ships because you will lose them! lots! - Nulla Curas |

+1 and +1 for the most redundant answers possible. Not even remotely connected to what I asked.
While i appreciate the advice, the only thing about wormhole pvp thats new to me is the wormhole part and it does not really matter that much since it's just another facy way of saying null sec without local.

Well it seems you don't have much of a clue yet
"ps: do i REALLY need cloak for wormhole ganking? Cuz i started with the ideea that i don't."
and also 0.0 roams and wormhole fighting are two different animals. Does not matter what fitting you will end up with for the Tengu if you have not yet grasped the basic pvp mechanics of 0.0 or w-space fighting.

More bad news for your' DPS, you should have an interdiction Nullifier. Bubble up baby we have a solo tengu on DSCAN

Using probes to scan people out is so 08...Never use probes for scannin...Use directional and reggie scanner.Using probes will let them know your comming. You need to rely on the element of suprize.Again probes are a dead give-away.Do NOT use probes to scan. You will scare of your victims.Only probe you need is core launcher to get around.
Heres how i doit. Directional scan plus reggie scan for 100% sites. Work out what site they are in from directional and solar system map. Warp in at desired range and gank away. They never knew you wer comming. See what i did there?
If the guys your shootin for are in a site that needs probed chances are they are watching d-scan for probes as well.As soon as they are seen your jig is up.Move on if this is the case.

And they will not watch for a tengu that does dscans? If i can dscan so can they. They see probes, they might think it's some1 scouting wh's. They see a tengu they know it's bad...

Edited by: Mo0seluffer on 06/07/2011 20:06:35 Also,Scan sites are not usually ran solo after c2,C3 and up are better ran with more than 1 person. So i dunno if you really wanna worry bout those. The cloak is really important because you can d-scan while cloaked and sniff out your targets. The key idea here is cloaked and probe-less.You dont need massive dps for the ganks your looking for.You need the element of suprize. You seem to think WH's are just Null with no local,You have allot to learn.
Back on topic,If you wanna go the uncloaked approach you may want to have a scanning alt in a throwaway covert frig,Preferably one with 3 hi's Salvager probe launcher and cloak. You're still solo pvp'ing (amirite)? This will enable you to stick around a bit longer than normal after a gank to possibly salvage stuff/scout some more ignorance. You wont believe how many times people will came back in another ship thinking you've moved on.

No they will be hunting you down,The same way i just explained to you.Without you knowing.Usually wh corps have all the sigs scanned right after DT so they know there entrances and exits. Not always are they watched so you can slip in un-noticed.And not always do they scan,So i say this part loosely. If they see the tengu on dscan they know you came from 1 of 3 places. 1,new wh sig 2,Entrance wh from hi/lo/null 3,The static wh next door
After that its only a matter of time till your ship explodes.

Nooooo come to ours first.. we will make it quick and painless
Most WH dweller's click d-san more times than they care to remember, most of us probably do it in our sleep, so if you can't sneak up, you never going to get them. Remember WH dwellers live in constant threat so generally are very careful and tend to shoot first and ask questions later...

Edited by: Goodluvins on 07/07/2011 11:49:18 I know it's been said, but i'll echo for good measure: Cloak or suffer the financial reprocussions. I started out my wormhole life just like you, stary-eyed about the active tengu gank possibilities. I'll save you some *very* expensive lessons: If you see them on Dscan, they can see you. If you think they're alone, they're probably not. Remember: You're in their system and backup is one warp-to away. On that note: Consider how many people you would have to find *conveniently alone* and kill before your kills matched the value of your tengu in case you should (Read: when you) lose it. Taking that into consideration, from a pure mathematical point of view, reconsider. Do NOT use a AB Tengu. While some maniacs thought it would be effective to mimic the build after watching an entertaining pvp video of someone in nullsec pulling one off, it gets torn the hell up in Wspace. Reconsider active tanking. One neut. means you're dead. Also, when you warp to sleeper sites and attack, they will target you (and help in the neuting). If any competant corp finds a tengu on dscan in their system, they bubble the entrances/exits and get ready to pad their killboards.
Lastly, wormholes are GREAT for small scale pvp. Small scale pvp is not solo pvp. With every moral bone in my body, if you're looking for a little fun group up with some buddies and do it that way. Preferrably some buddies who dont use their mid-slots for tanking so they can fit the tackle.

I did a roam in wormholes and killed a Proteus and a Megathron. Mind you, I did it in an Arazu and Rapier. I dunno what's wrong with all these naysaying ninnies. If you have the isk to go around in a Tengu then by all means, but be sure to size up your opponents capabilities in advance, and then be prepared to be surprised. ~~~
