?
You mean like frig > cruiser> BS > HAC > AF > indy or something ?
Or like detailed into exact ships per race ?
if anything, both are impossible. It wholly depends on what you can and want to do. _______________________________________________

Destroyers are good at what they are designed for - killing frigates.
They are also excellent pod-squishers

it depends on what you want to use them for, a frig is better for tackling then a cruiser for example, cuz it's faster and has a better locking time, and when you get balsted to dust it's cheaper then a cruiser

right now cruisers are pathetic they do crap damage for there size and maneuverbility (bring the blackbird back baby!!!)
destroyers go pop to easy
frigs are perfect
t2 frigs are all great cept they are overpriced
HAC and BS rules all
IMHO ships should all be equal and BS shouldn't be as widely acclaimed as they are. this is because they are too cheap and easy to build

Edited by: Meridius on 22/02/2005 17:51:00 Well i'll post considering how i rate ships which based on cost effectiveness. From my own experience anyway, either fighting in or against...
Being as general as possible except a few.
Frigates: Great Interceptors: Excellent Covert Ops: Good Assault Frigates: Mediocre Cruisers: Subpar (blackbird = good) Assault Cruisers: Moderate - Mediocre Battleships: Excellent - Good Battlecruisers: Good Destroyers: Good ________________________________________________________

All you're really going to get here is really really biased answers. best in what? I mean whatever people say here is pretty much crap to you because best means???? best at mining? Hauling? fighting? I think the fleet majority would agree that a fair number of bs and frigs/assault/inty would be nessecary for fighting. assault and inty are also good for solo pirating. I'd say the overall most useful would have to be the assault frigs, cause you can kill quite a bit and still have the speed to get away and you're also useful in fleet battles, but again that's only for shooting up stuff. You'd never use an assault frig to mine unless you were just dropped on your head or you were kinda insanely stupid. |

Just thought I'd point this out, all these ideas seem to be for PvP, not NPC/missions. If you were thinking of doing missions, the order would probably be different.

Look back up.
there IS no order of general usefullness. No ship class is better then another, with the exception of battleships that in general are good in just about every field but hauling stuff around.
If you want to know what ship class is best suited for some type of activity, tell us the activity.
Otherwise, take whatever you got and do whatever you wanna do, of it fails another ship class is about 70% likely to be better at it. the other 30% being the chance that you suck at whatever you just tried. _______________________________________________

Quote: t2 frigs are all great cept they are overpriced
Most interceptors are grossly underpriced for their effectiveness. They outclass everything under the BC class, pretty much, in terms of useability.
Here's how I'd rate the classes (overall):
Frigates: Good Cruisers: Poor Destroyers: Poor BCs: Almost Good BS: Very Good HAC: Okay - Good Interceptors: Very Good AFs: Poor - Okay

from Worst to Best:
Interceptors > Destroyers > Battleships > Frigates > Cruisers > Drones > Mining Barge > Assault Frigates > Industrial Ships
Pretty much sums it up. Interceptors are too fast, they blow up too easily if you crash them into other ships. Destroyers have 8 guns, and if you fit Tachyons or 425mm's you can pop BS from 150km away. Battleships cost too much, like 900 million or something crazy like that. Over 500 frigates can take down anything, so they are really good. Cruisers are just really good. Drones, if you are skilled enough, can eat through the heaviest armor. Mining Barges can use Strips, which I heard do more damage than the biggest BS weapons. Assault Frigates are expensive, so they have to be good. And the best, Industrial Ships can withstand fire for hours and can haul stuff; fit them full with Megacyte and fly through 0.0 security space if you don't believe me.
Hope that helps.

Almost every ship is good at something, but it will only be as good as you are willing to fit it. For example buying a mining barge and fitting with basic miners would be really really stupid.

Edited by: Shamis Orzoz on 23/02/2005 01:07:12 Standard cruisers are close to worthless atm.
So my list from worst to best would be:
cruisers frigates destroyers battlecruisers interceptors tied with assault frigates Heavy Assault ships tied with battleships
I think heavey assault ships are as good as battleships if not better. They are more mobile, they deal comparable dmg, and most of them can tank as hard. Only problem is at the end of the day with insurance figured in they are more expensive, so battleships are more economical.

Industrial are the best if you have too move large ammounts.
Use a Kessie (frigate) if you have to move a few hundred m3 of cargo.
Covert ops ship if it's small and expensive and needs moving through a hot spot.
Battleships are good for moving expensive goods if you are in a group for protection.
Even shuttles can be used to move small things, best if you use insta-jumps.

You can't find a best for all the ships in the game. You need to break it down a bit.
Worst < Best
For Combat:
Frigates < Interceptors < Assult Frigates
Destroyers < Crusiers < Support Crusiers < Heavy Assult Crusiers
Battle Crusier < Battle Ship
Industrial < Transport Ship
Then for mining: Bantam < Scyth < Osprey < Teir II BattleShip < Mining Badge
You can't pick an overall best because when setup right and in the right situation the best any of these groups can******the other. (except the Industrial Ships, but the transports have the defense of any of the best)

Im sorry but how does a support cruiser count as better at combat than ANYTHING. The only offensive modules it can fit are smartbombs!

My thoughts ... worst > best
Cruisers (naff) Destroyers (Complete naff but ok for n00bs as Tackler) Frigs (Cheap throwaway Tacklers) Bc (Not bad ships. shame they handle like bricks) Ceptors (prob most balanced ships in game) Af ( ) HAC ( Awsome ships... sadly a tad pricy to pVp with) Bs ( urrr millions of em nough said)
^heh as to the Hac's being too pricy... prehaps thats just for me. At least when my bs gets pwnd I get full insurance. Typherin LaiDai Care Negotitations Expert level 5

the question u should really be asking is wich ship is best - worst for each job. fighting a frigate, a destroyer would be pretty good. fighting a battle cruiser prolly the worst. its all relavent :) _______________________________________________

It might be worth pointing out that there are two symbols to denote a greater/lesser relationship.
< is less than > is greater than
so noobship>dessy translates to "noobship greater than (better) than dessy". I think you meant to say noobship<dessy etc etc.
Sorry to "teach" but it's a common problem that's really confusing if a person has good grammar knowledge but no knowledge of the topic. Beats me how it escapes the education system.

What do you want to rate the ships after? For NPC/Missions you can use a Caracal for any lvl 3 mission w/o taking sheild damage... --- Auir Sacra Fames "The cursed hunger for gold" |
