Saturday YC113.07.09 will be the intergalactic Day of Tolerance. The purpose of the day is to educate and enlighten, to oppose prejudice and advance the pursuit of open-mindedness. It is an excellent opportunity to forget our differences and focus on what we all have in common, in the Federation and in the whole New Eden.
The celebrations will last though the whole day. The venue will be the Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) station near the moon 8 of Lisbaetanne V, in the Peccanouette constellation.
Most exciting speakers from all parts of the cluster will present informative and inspiring lectures and participate in panel discussions. The full program and a list of speakers will be published at a later date.
The discussions and the lectures will be available for public across the cluster through a dedicated FTL channel "Day of Tolerance."
Those who wish to enjoy the celebration in person, are warmly encouraged to make a small donation, which will be used to help young pilots in need, to the charity coordinator Bastian Valoron. The voluntary donation will be of course be waived from the invited guests and students of CAS.
Through understanding we can accomplish more. With our joint efforts, maybe an era of peace might be shimmering in the horizon?

This is indeed something the event aims to achieve. The Day of Tolerance is going to offer important tools for fighting the mere exposure effect.

I understand and agree that peace and understanding will not be the dominant factor in New Eden until those such as yourself are eradicated from existence.
Despite how great the quality of tolerance may be, there is a line that can be crossed. And those that cross this line must be utterly annihilated and burnt to ash so that their own, and the suffering they are causing others, may come to an end.
So yes, war is part of existence, but it's purpose is to kill those who thrive on and support it, and thus it paves the way for eras of peace and enlightenment. ____________

Indeed a fact. I'll never let heretical concepts against the laws of the Universe prevail while I hold power to prevent it.

Wrong. When the rich wage war, it is the poor who die. For a man so eager to scream heretical concepts of peace, you need to understand how war strategies works first and why they are so profitable.
Still...you are an intriguing man, despite being a misguided infidel nonetheless.

The irony of this thread is plainly apparent but I will make it even more apparent, a thread about tolerance and acceptance has been undermined with the usual angry, hostile and aggressive rhetoric common to the IGS.
While it is obvious many of the hostile feelings and aggression have deep roots in many of us, and such feelings are seemingly justified within our reasoning ( or they wouldn't exist to begin with ) perhaps we could avoid further derailing of this topic by continuing it.
Whether you support this initiative or not, the least we can do is maintain the spirit of the thread.

We disagree on many things Mister Ixiris, but I respect your ability to vocally defend your viewpoints.
You are also intelligent enough to know the difference between someone whining and someone making a point. I voiced no complaint with the existence of the conversations spoken here EXCEPT their existence in a thread whose spirit is intended to be diametrically opposed to it.
I make absolutely no attempt to claim that Amarrians have not engaged in angry, hostile and aggressive rehtoric. All of us are guilty of having done so at some point. I simply stated that I think we are all capable of not further derailing this topic.
As difficult as it may be, perhaps we can work together on that?

No. We can't, really. Work together, I mean.
The thing is (and I must preface this statement with a warning that if any Amarrian - or, indeed, any other member of the IGS - ever takes the following statement out of context, they acknowledge that they then and forever after void their right to be taken seriously), the violent, angry, racist, supercilious rhetoric that the majority of Amarrians on this forum spout is actually "right" by the standards of Amarrian society. The Theology and Privy Councils have yet to renounce the idea of the inherent, inarguable superiority of the Amarrian culture, nor the intent of the Empire to spread it by force. They have yet to renounce slavery. They have yet to attempt even the most basic of diplomatic overtures with the Minmatar Republic (they have yet, in fact, to recognise its status as a legitimate state). They have yet to apologise and begin on payment of the incomprehensibly vast reparations they owe to the Minmatar people, particularly the Starkmanir. They have yet, in fact, to indicate that they hold within their hearts the slightest possibility that they believe the Amarr Empire has ever, in its entire lifespan, committed a single serious moral wrongdoing.
So basically, from the perspective of the Theology Council, your hardliners are the correct ones, and you are the heretics. Simply put - both from my perspective and theirs, you don't really belong in the Amarr Empire. Most of your statements are basically heretical.
Besides, regardless of that fact, you still serve a military force whose sole purpose is the military subjugation of Minmatar space, and you aid it in that goal. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor

While I will be most pleased to participate in the day proposed by the esteemed chairman of GIPA, one must wonder to what extent such a day serves the interests of the Federation.
The Amarr despise us and our way of life, that much is clear. They hate our freedom.
I hope I am wrong, to be sure, but I don't know that any progress can be made in the field of tolerance with such a people. They would prefer us to be their slaves building golden pyramids in the name of their absurd God, or whatever it is they do over there in Amarr.
The Caldari and Gallente are not so different, just like two brothers who don't see eye-to-eye. But the Amarr are more like the dodgy kid from the next street who you don't trust, and shouldn't, because he'll throw chokos at your bicycle.

The part that indicates how it has any relevance whatsoever the original poster or his stated purpose with this event. It was my understand that this event was open to all people as an opportunity to enlighten one another on our viewpoints, goals, beliefs and motivations - as individuals as well as corporations and governments.
Ironically, such a venue isn't forbidden at all by the Theology Council or the Empire and, in fact, could be used to shed light on the faith and viewpoint of many Amarrians. Which, I believe, was part of the intended purpose to begin with.

Because one can assist in defending the people of one's homeland without invading an enemy's home.
I can serve a position in the militia where I operate in the defense of the Amarrian people and systems remaining under Amarrian Sovereignty without crossing into Republic space and invading their homes, systems or territories.
Now you can make an argument that by defending an Empire that intends to subjugate the Matari people, I am subsequently aiding in that goal. I emphasize again that my purpose is the defense of the Amarrian people and the protection of the Empire and its citizens (Amarr and non-Amarr alike) from those that would bring harm to it.
Declare what you will of that, I have no need to further justify myself to you.

Tolerance is not a virtue unto itself, as some seem to believe. Indeed, the very word means to bear a minor nuisance. One tolerates a headache, but one does not tolerate subversion of national or ethnic cultural tradition or enslavement of one's race. Certain things go together like oil and water; the one simply cannot tolerate the other.
Riddle me this, friend: If tolerance is a virtue in and of itself, how can we have clear definitions of good and evil? Must we not tolerate what we believe to be evil for the sake of this grand virtue, tolerance?
Tolerance is a means to an end. It is not, however, a desirable end all its own. Tolerance is the tool of pragmatists when it suits a more pressing objective. While I appreciate the heartfelt sentiment behind espousing this tool as a virtue, I also recognize the moral folly in doing so.

Bah! Tolerance? YouÆre kidding, right?
As much as I enjoy reading stereotypical pigeonholing such as this, I must raise my own personal stance on this matter. Firstly, you seem to be under the rather inaccurate impression that the above statements regarding the races and their peoples hold true to every individual under those specific banners.
IÆve met many Amarrian citizens that actually donÆt hold grudges, nor dislike any specific race û some of whom donÆt even have a religious belief! I, myself, as a Caldari Civire, do not consider any other Caldari citizen, let alone the Gallente, a brother to me!

Your ability to completely fail at grasping the meaning of something is remarkable. I did not say that I ignored it, I said that it had zero relevance at this venue because it wasn't an Amarrian sanctioned event. I also stated that since the expressed purpose was to foster an environment where people would be educated on various viewpoints and topics, that such a venue could prove a valuable place to expound upon the teachings of the Theology Council.
Furthermore, I do not represent anything beyond myself with any measure of authority in order to "endorse" anything. I am a capsuleer and I would have expected someone of your nefarious reputation for self-service to recognize that.
As you've completely misunderstood the meaning of my statements thus far, I'll not bother to respond to your horribly worded and hardly understandable attempt to provoke me further. You forfeited your right to represent, speak on behalf of, or debate the Amarrian faith when you signed on with the Sani Sabik.
