Have you played it? I think you're selling it too short, if I encountered Eve and Perpetuum for the first time today, I'd pick perpetuum. Now which has more depth? Eve, hands down. However Perp has clearly learned from watching Eve, and it is much further along in many ways at this stage in its development.

I tried it twice, first time about a week ago I logged on and they where having issues with the servers. Tried again the next day things where better, so played around for a few hours before the servers had issues again. It's ok for what it is, a little rough perhaps, but it's ok, just not good enough at this moment in time for me to invest time in and pay the sub. I'll try again in a year or so and if it's still the same I won't bother. Although I see the potential, until it's realised I won't play it. I've played too many mmo's that had potential but failed to live up to them, I'm no just longer that patient.

Edited by: Discrodia on 05/07/2011 13:48:48 Well, one could argue that what with us adding ~600-800 players in the past few weeks to a game that previously had maybe 1k players total before, we're causing a problem... =P
Of course, said problems are solely ingame now, ever since they fixed the bug with the server architecture it's been smooth sailing.
For reference, here's a graph of all the player corps by size. The bittervet corp is the one in the middle.
Oh god they're everywhere

perpetum doesnt even run on any of the computers i tried it on.
So, what the hell is your problem? They only got 99 because noone else can log in.
At least CCP is reverting their hotfix so everyone can play. What are those perpetum freaks doing to make everyone who wants to be able to login? |

2-3 months into EVE there was barely 3,000 of us on line.
No BS's, canister dumping at gates, shuttles not widely available, the list goes on.
If Perp does the right things to please its player base then it will find its niche just like EVE did.

Because it is an great game. Yet EVE talking about immersion got 8years on its shoulders so obviously there is more thing / more complex.
However with recent changes complexity somehow being tweaked, I understand for duplicity of skills and non-needed skills but still
Its fun vs tedious everyone can have different opinion on what is fun and when it become tedious / not needed.

So I went through some patch notes and found the following terms and phrases: -NPC corporations -Agents -Reverse engineering -Completing "assignments" for corporations to improve "relations" -Electronic warfare mechs -"Alpha strike" -Modules -Remote repairing -"Robot information windows now show unmodified bonuses when viewed from the market." -Armour repairer usage decreases the level of your "accumulator" -"Fittings" Somebody's been taking influence from another MMO!
Oh yes, and to the people who hate EVE because of microtransactions....

one thing those paintjobs are obtainable without MT but are lost after your bot is destroyed.. those are kind of permanent one.. yet gives nothing ..
Just saying..
still its inappropriate forum for such discussion.
And i play both EVE as well as Per... Both are good in their own way. The newness of Per got something to it.. But too much time and effort invested in EVE so staying there too..

It's all bollox come back when it has been around for 8 years + alpha/beta then make a point, otherwise its wind and p155, Perp is ok average at best you whiney f**kers can love it as much as you like but repeating how much better than it is than Eve doesn't make it so.

I've been around since beta phase 3, pre auto pilot if memory serves, and Perp is ok but it's not better, not even close, Eve had its issues but don't try and tell me Perp is better at the same stage, it simply isn't.
I'm not saying Eve didn't have problems, it did, and I'm no one to criticize I made good use of those features (bugs) but Perp doesn't even come close, I have serious issues with Eve atm, which I think are simple, cash for in game advantage should never be allowed other than selling plex or GTC's to buy a better char, which to be honest is good and bad, ever since char auctions/selling was allowed I've made good isk from it but it is a vague form of buying SP.
Either way I profit from it so my arguments are moot but comparing Eve and Perp is pointless atm it's just children crying and trying to make a point, which until we know everything it's as much use as p155ing in the wind and complaining if you get wet.
People want to leave then let them, play Perp but don't come back and tell us it's better, those of us who've been around a while know better.

The problem is that people are trying to draw parallels between Perpetuum and Eve, and justify said parallels by linking them with a sense of greater and inferior.
When comparing games, this just does not work. I'm not going to run out and say Perpetuum is better than Eve, but at the same time, the opposite applies. Perpetuum merely offers people a similar experience at this time to those that are the most likely to be leaving (Vets circa 2003-2006) are used to and may enjoy experiencing again, while offering similar levels of potential in growth that eve did in it's own infancy. I for one look forward to being part of the community that builds on perpetuum as the original people in eve did way-back-when, while at the same time i'm mourning the fact I feel it an appropriate time to quit a game that less than two months ago I was going to stay subscribed to for the foreseeable future. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

I hope you're not implying Eve invented the term alpha strike. It was around since Mechwarrior as I recall, and just referred to firing all your weapons in one glorious overheating inducing burst.
PS As much as I like Perp, I don't think its cool to keep spamming General Discussion with it.

Like you say drawing parallels is pointless, which I made clear in my p155ing in the wind comment, but if people want to leave let them in the case of Eve vs Perp it's a losing battle Eve was and simply is better, I will defer to you in as much you have been around for as long, but I still maintain most are whiney f**ks.

I was cool with Eve until they started the whole $68 mega transaction ****. I can't support greedy ****ers like that in any capacity. I have enough assets to plex up for a year or two but let my main run dry, and this one will soon be with it.
Perpetuum is a fun game. Not equal to eve, but it doesn't have 50 million dollars a year to develop with. Dollar for dollar it is vastly superior. With the level of income CCP has from eve, there is absolutely no excuse for the lack of finished content year after year. Bad management is not an excuse.
I'll stick with the new indie game. You guys can have your top 40 aspiring madonna game. I've got good friends struggling to get jobs and survive and some pale flabby **** in Iceland wants $68 for a ****ily rendered monocle. **** you john wayne.
