Does anybody know or is there a record of how many hours of additional extended DT we have had say the past 3 months....
When I say additional extended DT I mean like what has happened today?

5 or 6? Unless you want to count the DDOS attack as an extended downtime.

Does it really matter? You pay to access the servers when they're available, not whenever you decide they should be available. They do their best to have them available as much as possible.

This.
My version of it: OMFGWTFBBQ this required a thread of its own, seriously?

It's FAR less than the hours invested complaining about 30 minutes here and there.

Agree, its there server. There rules. just because its a MMORPG doesn't mean anything is different. Everyone loses time in this game. No one is taking a time loss individually. but also in the end can we all remember. It's a game. Games are created for enjoyment purposes and by complaining i feel a huge part of this community forgot why we started playing. This isn't a second life but a game where we take the spare time we want to, sit back and have fun.

We're not the ones complaining about five lost hours in the past month or two in said game,

Even if you're not complaining (and my apologies if that's true), there are far too many that pop up that whine if downtime even rolls over an extra half hour. It's sad, really, this sense of entitlement people have. One side effect of the eGeneration I guess.

Since the time of monocle wearers is about 5578.33% more valuable, we've lost around (5*55.7833) = 278,9165 hours / 24 = 11,62152083333333 days.

Edited by: Prince Kobol on 05/07/2011 16:31:19 The reasons I asked were 2 fold.
The first was simply ideal curiosity. Many people complained about the amount of downtime and I would like to compare Eve's against other MMO.
I suspect that it is probably better then most.
Secondly, it appears we have gotten to the point that a lot of people seem to instinctively see a neutral worded question as a negative.
I deliberatively worded my question as such to see what kind of replies I received ( positive or negative) and it was no shock to see people viewed it as a negative.
I find this rather sad that the Eve community has possibly become one of the most negative communities of any MMO.

Your own attempt to deliberately create an unbiased question regarding an obviously biased topic proves you outsmarted yourself and failed in your test.

Perhaps you should be more thorough in the future so the community is not expected to interpret your intentions so quickly after the recent bout of paranoia and uncertainty.
The forums are not the forums of '08 and before (I presume before '08 they were even better and more mature than even when I started), these are the EVE forums of '11, a festering pit of inequity and trolls as far as the eye can see, overrun by Warcraft rejects with an adrenaline junkie twitch gaming instant gratification content devouring give-me-more-or-else mentality and little else.
I would sadly not suggest you expect much more out of the general population here in the future, as much as it pains me to say. Because even if you were to clearly state your intentions ahead of time, so that those of us with any sense would not misinterpret you, you will still get flamed by the twitch gamers left and right, with mindless memes of all sort, little to no substance, and absolutely no meaning.

I do wonder how much indeed. 5 to six hours is not correct( last 3 months), last DT was a lot longer for most then normal..

Eve's downtime is a lot higher than WoW, thats for sure even on WoW expansion days which might I add are actually expansions, unlike the pseudo expansion we get on EvE.

Why? Let's see....long down times each day. Obvious bad reasons, obvious. Good reasons....more time with kids, wife, parents, dog, IRL in general....seriouly. Like you stand a chance of getting those on a game forum devoted to the game that is down.
