If I am not mistaken, these was (is) supposed to be a CCP Press Conference today (July 5).
Was there any news from that? Did any new or interesting come out of it? Did they answer any unanswered questions?
Please post up below if you have a good link or something.
Thanks! Dex was here. |

I would like to know also. I can't find any info on Massively (who said they would be participating) nor on CCP's main site, which was odd.

Was it cancelled? Is it still on? Fallout? Navigator? Bueller? Anyone?

I'm also curious about this and will there be an EVE Radio show tonight about it? ___

On the friday Funkybacon Eve Radio show, the Massively Eve writer said there was an industry press conference following a more Eve community-specific press conference. If I recall, they were supposed to be today.

Notice the last statement. And yes, the same was said on FunkyBacon's EveRadio show. It was suggested that any unanswered questions get sent to them so they could try and get answers.
Is this fact or fiction CCP?

The only news I have been able to find. A Twitter update from The Mittani:
@TheMittani The Mittani i just puked on my floor during the middle of a post-summit press conference. shouldn't have taken vitamins on an empty stomach looool~ 11 minutes ago via web
Now that's attractive. Was it the vitamins or the press conference? Inquiring minds want to know.

We just concluded two back to back sessions, the first with EVE fansites and the second with gaming press--about 6-7 attendees each.
CCP Zulu and The Mittani (chairperson of the 6th CSM) did all the talking, although it was mostly Zulu getting the questions.
The main purpose was to provide an easy, relatively quick venue for a Q&A (which comprised about 50-55 minutes of each session) to make up for the fact that we had delayed interviews and comments till after the CCP/CSM session. Only one no show--we got acceptance but not any followup communication or a Skype name to invite. Not bad considering the relatively short notice of sending out the invites during the summit.
We extended an invitation for a CSM rep to join us for it at the end of the summit after the invites had been sent to the fansites and press, which they accepted. Thanks as well to the other CSM members willing to join us. Even though they were supposed to be more CCP focused, it was good to get the CSM perspective in real time.
So, undoubtedly attendees are starting on their coverage now in various forms. I will link in this post whatever links I get so they are less hard to find. We got through all of the gaming press questions and NEARLY all of the fansite ones--which I will be doing followup on.

I'm going to go out on a limb and take a guess that the important things are going to be what isn't said. ie still not official response to the Hilmar email, no actual timeline for fixing items in EvE that are broken, no iteration on existing content and more of the 18 month fiasco/lack of commitment of excellence.

No reason to think otherwise, I look forward to seeing the results.
It's unreasonable to think CCP would undo any of the hard work that has gone into Crowd Control over the last few weeks.
That would be extremely counter productive.

I just dropped Massively's coverage of the press conference with my editors. I stayed up all night to get it done, but I think players will be happy with the result. It should leave no ambiguity whatsoever as to what was said and meant at the press conference. It's not an opinion piece, just has the facts to let you make your own decisions. Personally, I found the conference to be really positive. We got some vital answers from Zulu along with a few core insights from The Mittani. The Mittani was also quite helpful in saying things that an employee of CCP might not want to or be able to. If nothing else, the conference adds a good bit of context for recent events that in my mind disperses practically all of the worry and anger. It is replaced with a little bit of disappointment though, because ultimately all of this could have been avoided with better communication and adequate preview-based feedback-gathering.
I can definitely appreciate the difficulty in discussing these issues when there are things a company just can't reveal ahead of time or simply can't promise. At some point I think we have to trust that the response CCP has given (and the only one it's really able to give) on a topic like non-vanity microtransactions is good enough. Because if you can't extend that tiny bit of trust to CCP, that miniscule leap of faith, after what they've delivered in the statement and the press conference (wait until my coverage of it is out before passing judgement), then nothing they can do or say will change your mind. Personally, I put my trust on issues like this in Arnar (CCP Zulu), because I've found he has a real affinity for the player perspective and I know he'd raise hell on earth rather than see EVE go to **** on his watch. But that's just my opinion.
Keep an eye on the EVE Online section at Massively or the Massively twitter for the article. I will probably be asleep when it goes live

I'm somewhat (understatement) surprised by this press conference while, we, the community got exactly ONE statement from CCP.
Why not release a few more devblogs? Just keep communicating to the community. Atm we're still seeing the fairly typical corporation strategy after some critic. You know, you do have a choice what image the community gets from CCP...

We actually just happen to be working on dev blogs to follow up on some of the issues discussed in the summit. Hopefully we can get some out before the weekend.
The press conferences are one way of communicating with the community and the eve curious alike and it's an effective way to do so in my opinion. But...we'll still keep talking to you guys directly you know
