How come supercaps have more ehp then a POS and have no effective counter other then have more supercaps then the other person?
Who's idea was it to make them like this??

everyone knows supercaps are overpowered but they dont want their investment to be nerfed.
bring back BSes as the main ship in deciding battles. its better for everyone, especially new alliances trying to get into 0.0!

I think the solution is special torpedos or even bombs loadable on black ops bombers that bypass shields/armor and deal a few %'s of structure against super caps.

Honest, they should introduce an Anti-Super Capital ship that's specifically designed to "hunt" in packs within the enemy formation and disable super-caps in some way, such as siphoning shields or disabling drones or maybe releases special nanobots that eat away through armor/structure while being ignored by shields. ships that MUST be eliminated in any major PVP engagement. it would bring another level of tactics to Null-sec PVP.
as it stands now, there is no viable way for new alliances or corps to unseat old ones ôWhat we imagine is order is merely the prevailing form of chaos.ö

Reduce deployable fighters and bombers to 5. They would still be better than a carrier but not to the extent that makes everything else useless.

CCP has just recently stated that super caps are going to be nerfed at some point soon. I doubt this will come in the form of EHP nerfs. Nullsec alliances are plenty capable of bringing down and trapping super caps with subcaps.
For supercarriers, my guess is that they'll separate out the fighters/bombers into a unique fighter bay, and cap it at some lower amount than currently is available (~30 capable instead of 40-50). Then nerf the drone bay down to a pathetic level of about a few hundreds drones, instead of the thousands we can now employ. Similar changes for carriers. They might nerf the SC EHP down to 2/3 of what it is now, but not beyond that.
Titans will remain about the same EHP wise. Their doomsday will receive a few possible variations as CCP has expressed in the past, such as the current deathstar beam, or a future variant which will act as a "chain lightning" sort of hopping energy beam between enemy ships. Unknown if the AE version will be restored. These changes will probably be accomplished via script-like things.
Titan jump portal will be the single largest titan nerf, which allows force projection at a speed too fast to be reasonably countered or defended against. Odds are titans will lose their JB's entirely, have their range nerfed further, or a better solution would be a "lock-on" timer that requires the titan to "lock-on" to a target cyno before it can open a bridge to it. Thus preventing ninja deployments of subcap fleets. Instead taking a few minutes to link to the burning cyno. --------------------------- Full Explanation of the Industry Index System |

Supposedly, that's what Dreadnaughts are for, but clearly they do not fit that role well at all.

They USED to, before CCP nerfed the Siege module. If you look at old titan kill mails (EG: Shrike's first Avatar, the very first Titan lost in actual combat and 3rd ever killed), you'll see everyone or almost everyone on it is in a dreadnought.
This is because the old hotdrop consisted of dreads jumping in right on top of the enemy caps, going into siege mode, and opening a can.
Now siege mode destroys their sensors (2 targets and vastly increased lock time), AND makes it almost impossible for them to do damage to a target that's moving much.
And I checked, once. I have a megathron setup that does 1200 DPS. An identical Moros setup with identical skills (including dreadnaughts 5, yuck), does about 1300 out of siege mode, with a very large portion of that coming from the drone damage bonus!

NC has all be evaporated, the nerf will come soon.
Just like AoE doomsday nerf came after the appropriate Sov changes occured, just like all the nerfs occur afte the damage is done.
Call me a tin foil hatter all you want, it worked out that way far too many times to be a coincidence.

Simple if you ask really, just nerf the tank of the thing to be slightly better compared to a carrier or something.
As soon as peoples investment starts blowing almost as easy as a regular cap people might think twice about using or obtaining one.
Heck, might be even worth it again to use regular caps against them.

I assume we'll also nerf the cost to be slightly more than a carrier or something and refund existing supercap pilots the difference?
And since when are we trying to make people might think twice about using or obtaining one? They're an effective ship that takes a lot of time and isk to skill up to. Why should they be obsolete (also known as pre-Dominion)?

They shouldn't nerf supercaps.
They should make them boardable by Dust514 players, where objectives would range from destroying/damaging part of the capacitor array (acting like a neut/nos from the inside), lowering shield recharge, damaging bulkheads (straight to-hull damage), stealing and flying off in fighters and more.
EVE is forever, right? Imo the players should HTFU until EVE and Dust become an integrated battlefield. In the year 2015 or so ;) --

They were always supposed to be slightly better than carriers. It's the same principle used on skills level IV and V. Slightly better, much more costly.
It won't be obsolete, just as level V are not. What will change is that it won't (or shouldn't) be the ultimate machine of invulnerability and doom.

I just keep posting the same suggestion:
Supercaps - Any ship that cannot dock - should require regular supplies of materials: Water, spare parts, food, maybe even slaves if Amarr. Without which the ship would slowly lose function (perform slower, become vulnerable to e-war, whatever...).
Would boost industry and limit the number of super caps that any corp can manage at any given time. Also would make the low-sec supercarrier solo pwnmobile much less practical. Finally, would create some interesting strategic considerations when laying siege with / against a system full of titans.
Win, win, win all the way around.

hmm so for killing just regular fleet of SCs you need only 4500 battleships.. tho i doubt it would help anyway.

tbh, they made them too super because...frankly speaking, they are idiots.
everyone could see where this would go, give the most flexible, most ehp ship in the game (Titans excluded) the most powerfull weapons against everything (fighterbomber/fighter/h+m+s drones).
Yea, like that would work out well....
But, as with Titans, it will take them about 4 years to fix and they will destroy nearly every alternate playstile in 0.0 in the meantime.

Yes, this and many other nice ideas have been stated a hundred times and all stand in the appropriate fora on this board.
Problem is CCP doesn¦t seem to care one bit anymore what we write there. Just as they totally ignored all the complaints on the SiSi board when the current client was in testing. _ .. darn |
