CCP Soundwave talking about destructible stations in 0.0 being a possibility on the horizon...Talk about a mineral sink, if that goes through.

forget the outpost, what about the contents of pilots hangers within the outpost. That will far out weigh the 8 to 10 bil the outpost costs.

Not much of a mineral sink at all.. A single fleet battle sinks more.
So you'll have a MASSIVE demand for Minmatar Eggs...
Why I hear you say? Well lets face it, there is not going to be many people wanting to store stuff at something that can go pop. So that pretty much negates Gal Outposts. There will not be much demand for Caldari outposts because high-sec POSes would inevitably be more secure then an outpost that pops. So bring on the High-sec POS BOOM!
Amarr stations might make a the list at least but not anywhere near as good as Min stations which offer one very important 0.0 function. Not only that but 1) They are cheaper to make, 2) They have :Girls:
This will put a big load on PI as these also appear to be one of the more resource intense items. The largest being Organic Mortar Applicators and Sterile Conduits. Followed up by Nano-Factory. Minerals are not much consumption..
Which means more demand on Robotics and Coolant..
Each one need 8 of each component. You need ~110 components (105 if you research to ME1) so you're looking at 840 Organic Mortar Applicators and Sterile Conduits. With "daily" average of 2,000 in The Forge just one of these puppies is putting a load on PI, especially Robotics and Coolant.
POS Fuel is going to get more expensive if that even think about blowing up Stations in 0.0.
Mind you, if they do blow up stations it's damn well time to blow up stations in high-sec too!

Thinking outside the box is good, but when the Box has everything you need, no need to create something new... |

Good point Ivan. I didn't even think about that. Instead of getting locked out from your stuff it just goes BOOM! Please, oh please, let this be salvagable, lol!
How fast do you really think they would start burning through Outposts though?
I guess it's a great way to slug through your opponents supply chain, but still... I'm sure it's going to have ZOMG for hitpoints.

Geez, what exactly is so bad about having a lot of outposts ? If anything, they should remove outposts from any sov-related gameplay (they should be doing that anyway with making sov relating to planets instead) and let us build as many outposts per system as we like... or at least one per planet.
If they want to make outposts destructible, have them be extremely expensive to destroy. How about "the only way to destroy an outpost will be to ram a supercapital ship into it after its shields and timers have been depleted completely" ?

Vaguely like that (the station was not destroyed there, just damaged). Or like in Clear Skies 2 (granted, it was averted, but same basic thought).
The idea is, exploding one should be a tactical option that's actually more expensive than building a new one. Plus we have waaay too many supercaps anyway, so why not strike down two birds with one stone? |

I thought this part was way more interesting:
>> Yeah, youÆre likely to see some industry changes this winter, and some re-distribution of resources. In terms of POSs, Greyscale has a pretty awesome idea of making them modular. So youÆll basically have POS you can ôfitö with different stuff. Hopefully, making them cheaper to run (fuel bill based on attached mods?) and easier to deal with will make them more popular with the average player.
