Edited by: Dark NovaWolf on 08/07/2011 03:09:42 I have been playing eve since 2003 and the one thing about the ships that has always bothered me is the scale of the turrets on ships. The small turret size for frigates and destroyers is fine but as the shipps get bigger the turrest are not scaled in proportion. If you look a real navy ships the turrets get bigger as the ship does. I think that the medium turrets need to be 2-3 times larger than they currently are and the Large turrests should be 5-10 times bugger then they currently are. Look at a deradnought, the turrets are huge as one would expect, they are matched to the size of the ship, but look a large turrets on a battleship and they are hardly more than a small blister. If you make the comparision with real navy ships the turrets are a very dominate item on the decks of the ships. Given all the hard artwork the folks at CCP did on the turret re-design it would sure be nice to actually see them and to really appreciate them. Just my two cents worth, what do you all think? _______________________________________________ >>>> In space no one can here you scream. <<<<

I also think that this would be a good idea. Although I don't know if CCP can easily just up-scale the turrets it sure would be nice to look at a ship to see if it has lasers, rails or artillery as well. Just an add on to that, are there actually launchers or is it assumed that they are always internal? |

+1 No point in shiny new guns without the ability to see them clearly without ultrazooming in. At the moment I'd say that the only ships that suffer the least are dreadnaughts (obviously), and maybe ships small in relation to the gun size (in other words ships like the Rokh just have a couple pixels for guns) --------

Tiny turrets doesnt make sense, especially when resizing them takes like 10 seconds in 3d application.

(you could even consider to make turrets which are getting a bonus on certain ships larger. A small tractor beam having 5x range on a noctis should be at least visible on the hull)

As I stated in my opening post, currently I understand that CCP is juggling a great many things. That said, IF it is not a major re-work of the graphics an upscaling of the medium and large turrets would lend a bit more reality to game play as well. The ability to see the current difference between artillery and autocannons, rails and blasters, pulse lasers and beams without having to look at a particular ship and zoom in to the maximum to make that assesment.

I dont really mind the size of the guns on most ships but on the Machariel they just look ridiculous.
