Undocking earlier today I came across a sight which is sadly all to common across New Eden. Thousands of corpses from a couple of destroyed amarr battleships floating among the twisted debris of the once proud ship. Like most of you this is a everyday occurance, it is simply part of war. However I noticed something truely sickening thing. The capsuleer's civilian ships where only scooping up the corpses of Amarr, leaving their Minmatar slaves to float without their dignity for all eternity. This is simply wrong.
Now, I may be a bit of a reformist but I'm not strictly against slaves. My crew aboard my ships compose of a fair number of slaves for that matter. But any man, no matter what his origins deserves a proper burial if possible.
I would ask my fellow capsuleers to begin honoring the dead, be they slave or enemy. |

Ah.
Well, it's laudable in some way that you actually noticed that, Ms. Goldcore. The bodies, I mean.
For good or ill, however, you'll find that most care very little, or not at all. Being the "brains" of ships, we tend to treat humans as though they were so many drops of blood to be spilled in combat.
Their deaths have meaning to few of us. Still, I hope you find sympathetic ears. Disregarding those who serve us is a dangerous habit, though one not all of us can easily break. |

I am suprized more people don't notice such like this. I have only been a licensed capsuleer for 2 years. I would like to think it would take many more to make me that jaded.
Still, Death and capsuleers go hand in hand. I suppose I have my faith to shield my heart. |

Ah yes Pilot Jenneth, we get it; you're an uncaring, unfeeling, unrepentant homicidal sociopath who no longer considers yourself "human" (or at least that's what I've gotten from your various essays and postings).
This acknowledgment then frees you from any responsibility for your murderous acts? You feel yourself no longer bound by any "human" morals, customs, or standards of civilized behavior? Is something as simple as noting with sadness the extinguishing of a human life when seeing a corpse floating in the void beyond you?
I think this is a sham argument, a crutch, an excuse for you to no longer practice any sort of impulse control and to simply function as a wild animal; albeit one that controls the most destructive technology yet devised by humanity and that can kill thousands at a time by a single thought.
What's the purpose of your quest for truth and understanding of the capsuleer "nature" then Captain Jenneth? Is it to change? To become less animistic and more human? Is it to provide flimsy justifications for your dark impulses? Or is it in the end no more than a case of mental "self-pleasuring"?

Hello, Mr. Bete. It's good to see you.
You've got the gist of a lot of my work, but you miss the central point. The point is not to toot my own horn, or, as the case may be, advertise my own depravity. It's that I am not unique, or even unusual.
I am what we generally seem to be. I'm maybe just a little more introspective about it, and wish to inspire thought in others.

You don't expect a slave-dog to wear pants, do you?
That said, of course I can note a human corpse with sadness. A human can do the same with a dead bird.
That last comment will tend to suggest that I place the infomorph capsuleer "above" humans. This is not the case. We are simply different.
Quote: I think this is a sham argument....
... to let me claim moral validation for being a horrible person. Yes, I know. And yet, trying to be otherwise nearly drove me insane, so perhaps I'm just naturally evil, yes?
Of course, capsuleer-kind tends to resemble me a lot, so that would seem to mean that most of us are similarly twisted creatures. Does that mean that we are all naturally evil-- that somehow the capsule technology tends to work best for horrible people? Does it mean that the technology drives us mad? Or does it mean that our place in the scheme of things has changed, that we not only do not, but can not live as humans any longer?

It's ultimately about understanding my place in things, Mr. Bete. Our place. It's a matter of understanding the universe, and our part in it.
The whole cannot be seen without the part, and vice versa.
You see, Mr. Bete, I don't exist. Neither do you. We are both illusions; our separateness from the Totality is a fiction conjured by our minds. Thus, the proper, "right" place for me is simply to be whatever it is I am, to serve my role. Unable to be a good human, I instead seek to be a good infomorph capsuleer. We have some sense of what that means, already, but the picture is by no means finished.
Unable to follow my old path, I instead seek the wisdom to establish a new one. If that path makes me a monster, as you accuse me of being, then so be it.
However, if that is so, I think you will find that uncomfortably few of us are not. |

The Disciples of Ston offer a free service which returns any corpses we find or corpses that donated to us back to the original owner. This is, of course a service we offer when the corpse is identified by a scanner tag indicating its owner. We believe that if we are able to bring a little dignity back to death, perhaps there will be less death. Please keep your biomass filter active on your scanners and take time to collect corpses you find. Donate them to us, and we will do our best to get them back to family or the clone owner for proper rites.
The Disciples of Ston bid you peace. |

Oh sorry. I just meant another layer of education, specific to capsuleers. But we are pioneers, so that task will eventually lies with us. |
