Has anyone Suggest anything about Taking Abanddoned Control Towers? like dead corps' with no fuel/power, ive found numerous in the last few days I could guess why butt W/e. I think if a POS is Does not Receive fuel AND reactivation after 30days it should automatically allow Other players (from outside) that find it to Claim/repackage it...
Anyone else think this would be some thing to look into. |

It's fun to blow them up. If you find one and it bothers you, war dec the corp that owns it, grab some friends and and have at it. |

You can't wardec a disbanded corp with no members, the only way to get rid of these towers in highsec is to petition, or less sensibly launch the mother of all suicide ganks. |

Edited by: Crazy KSK on 10/07/2011 12:07:18 I think that issue can have a much more fun (imo) solution make it possible to hack poses maybe make a special ship for it or just use the existing code breaker for it you got to a off line tower activate your hacker which injects a virus the tower will get a timer for like one day and the owner a notification if he doesn't show up to remove the virus the tower will be yours at the end of the timer
would also be a nice solution for all those thousands of off line wh towers |

I completely agree abandoned POS towers should be able to be taken by anyone who finds them it takes up server resources just for them to be up and not in use. The virus with a timer idea is a good one as well.

I agree. look at wormhole space for once -> so many sticks are just left behind and people are too bored to clean them up. Even some are used to hold moon coverage to keep others from setting up a tower. This is totaly easy way to build a castle system. POSes should be either keept alive or being easely removed when just idling around for ages!
However wether it's abandoning or whatever way to avoid idling towers would improve w-space gameplay. Things i can think of: - tower gets damage after days of being offline (making it easier to kill) - self destruct option - unanchors itself after being offline a few days or weeks - can be claimed by others (avoid instantly but make it possible to claim/invade an offline tower within hours or days).
i think there a lot of ways, lazy and easy to do ways too, to improve this.

How about if a POS has been unfueled for 60 days, it unanchors and drifts off at 1m/s in a random direction. When the tower is in this state it can be scooped up by anyone, including the original owner and re-anchored elsewhere. The same would happen to the modules. Once it has drifted for a further 60 days it gradually loses HP until it is destroyed. |

I've been supporting a change like this for a while. I'd have no problem if the limit were a bit higher, say 60-90 days, as opposed to the currently 30 day limit on untouched, anchored cans.
For WH space, maybe the Sleepers can just blow up the towers that go offline

Why not mirror the real life a bit here?, and use something like the LLoyds Open Form : LLoyds Open Form. In Eve the value of any salvaged POS/POS modules would be determined by Jita market?. Maybe a new contract type aka "EvE Open Form", where any POS/POS module salvaged is entered and prices would be checked against Jita market.
Entering the dead POS/POS modules into an "EvE Open Form" an evemail from "Pending Insurance?" is being sent out to the owner corp, members stating what is going to be salvaged and with a link to the contract itself. Owner corp members with proper rights could then either accept the contract or abandon the ownership to said equipment where all of the equipment goes to the salvaging party.
For the actual salvage of a dead POS/POS modules probably a right click option to "Enter this into an EvE Open Form-contract?" could work. Also to be able to enter any modules into the contract the salvager has to be at looting distance from the module itself (2500m).
By entering the POS/POS modules into the "EvE Open Form" they lose all their functioanlity and are locked into the contract unil the owner corp has responded to the "Eve Open Form-mail" and contract
The salvager would then be free to scope the POS/POS modules and haul it off to any station best suited for him. If the contract is accepted all modules, should be available in one station only as with any normal contract now. If it's not accepted the contract expires and the salvager gets access to the modules and are free to do whatever he likes with it.
Duration time for the contract needs to be?, maxed out?
This is just a quickly put together suggestion, it needs to be tweaked here and there but could be a start at least.

It would be nice to see the clutter of abandoned pos's and towers gone. One of the ways to do this would be to declare then abandoned after being off line for 30 days. After that a ship that is fitted with a hacking module should be able to come along to hack into the anchoring mechanize and then take the tower as well as any other structures that are present. This could turn in to a lucrative career as there are a ton of them out there. Be the kind of man that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up!"

I like the second option as it would be a boom for salvagers Be the kind of man that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up!"

I like the creativity of the thought. But we need to expand on the hacking skills. Be the kind of man that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up!"
